Some choices for Rose = Dawn Wells, Georgia Engel & my personal fav Dolly Parton who seems to be surprising similar to Rose in many ways:small town stories, perceived innocence & hides her true hair at all times.

Dolly could never play ditzy or dumb.

Joan Collins as Barbara Thorndyke. Because nobody plays "cunty" better than Joan Collins.

The only actress that comes to mind (other than the younger 50's actress that played young Dorothy) is Geena Davis. She has the height, smarts, comedic chops & with her plastic surgery changes to her face I can easily see her sitting home on a Saturday night without a date. She's a perfect name for the role.

Those people are too old! Betty/Bea were 63 when Golden Girls started. Rue was only 51.

Miss Ross does not participate in ensemble projects. Miss Ross is the only star in any movie she appears. For future reference, please do not look directly at Miss Ross when you see her, and when you are dismissed from her presence always bow repeatedly while backing out of the room. Thankyouverymuch!
