Me as Phyllis Hammerow, Miami's answer to Me.

I did it in The Hours, I could do it here too.

by Anonymousreply 3October 5, 2015 12:33 AM

barbra is way too ugly to be Blanche

by Anonymousreply 4October 5, 2015 12:36 AM

Wow, OP. I hVe never felt this much pity for someone.

by Anonymousreply 5October 5, 2015 12:46 AM

r5 = Barbara Thorndyke

by Anonymousreply 6October 5, 2015 12:49 AM

Bradley Cooper as Coco

Tom Cruise as Clayton Hollingsworth

Peter Dinklage as Dr. Jonathan Newman

by Anonymousreply 7October 5, 2015 2:02 AM

Don't forget Patty Duke.

by Anonymousreply 8October 5, 2015 2:05 AM

Alexander Skarsgard as Cousin Sven Rebel Wilson as Becky John Travolta as Big Sal

by Anonymousreply 9October 5, 2015 2:10 AM

Barbara Parkins is in.

by Anonymousreply 10October 5, 2015 2:18 AM

I would love to watch Barbra's interpretation of Blanche. She has done southern before with Hello Dolly! But of course she would only have to sit on the one side of the table. Liza as Trudy would be fantastic, and would end with all the girls doing a fabulous production number at the High School reunion party.

Elton John would make a better Coco.

by Anonymousreply 11October 5, 2015 2:32 AM

Ted Danson as Miles.

by Anonymousreply 12October 5, 2015 2:35 AM

This casting made be clutch my Golden Pearls.

by Anonymousreply 13October 5, 2015 2:59 AM

OP can't be serious. Who are these people?

by Anonymousreply 14October 5, 2015 3:04 AM

Christine Lahti as Dorothy (she's 5'10"!)

Kim Basinger as Blanche

Geena Davis as Rose

by Anonymousreply 15October 5, 2015 12:04 PM

BUMP for more dream casting of the GG movie!

James Wolk as junior cop spying on the next door neighbors.

by Anonymousreply 16October 6, 2015 4:55 PM

I always thought you could stick the First Wives Club or 9 to 5 casts in here pretty easily.

Bette Midler as Dorothy Goldie Hawn as Blanche Diane Keaton as Rose

Or, Lily Tomlin as Dorothy Dolly Parton as Blanche Jane Fonda as Rose (although she could make a great Blanche, too)

And, I don't know, Valerie Harper as Sophia? They were always such sound alikes. Dan Hedaya as Sal. Trying to think of a good Stan - who's a lovable yutz?

by Anonymousreply 17October 6, 2015 5:03 PM

Stanley Tucci as Stan.

by Anonymousreply 18October 6, 2015 5:06 PM

Just take the Hot in Cleveland quartet and give them GG scripts.

Wendie Malick - Blanche

Jane Leeves - Dorothy

Valerie Bertinelli - Rose

Betty White - Sophia

by Anonymousreply 19October 6, 2015 5:38 PM

OT... anyone remember the episode where Blanche's husband's illegitimate son comes to town?

Have we talked about his massive bulge and ass yet?

by Anonymousreply 20October 8, 2015 12:29 AM

Oh, shit. Who knew George's bastard son was Paul Young from Desperate Housewives?

by Anonymousreply 21October 8, 2015 12:31 AM

The bastard son's bulge...hmmm But I digress! I think Midler would be great as Blanche, tarty but on her own terms (that's probably on Midler's calling card!) Haven't seen anyone who could match Bea Arthur's delivery, there was only one Bea! I think Dame Judi could easily pull off Sophia. And for Rose? who cares, she wasn't funny. and Diana Ross?? Common...seriously?!

by Anonymousreply 22October 8, 2015 1:41 AM

Dorothy.....Kate Jackson

Blanche.....Jacklyn Smith

Rose......Cheryl Ladd

Sophia......Joyce Bulifant

by Anonymousreply 23January 3, 2016 6:07 AM

Why are ElderGayz obsessed with this show?

I've seen it in reruns and it's funny but not groundbreaking or anything.

Splain?

by Anonymousreply 24January 3, 2016 6:46 AM

Dorothy - Anjelica Huston

Rose - Goldie Hawn

Blanche - Jessica Lange

Sophia - Olympia Dukakis

by Anonymousreply 25January 3, 2016 1:19 PM

Rose Nylund wouldn't have a biracial daughter in a remake. St. Olaf doesn't allow interracial marriages.

by Anonymousreply 26January 3, 2016 1:50 PM

The only way I'd even acknowledge OP's absurd idea of a reboot is if this were the cast:

Dorothy: Julie Andrews

Sophia: Angela Lansbury

Rose: Helen Reddy

Blanche: Lesley Ann Warren

by Anonymousreply 27January 3, 2016 1:52 PM

Who should play that anti-Semite bitch Barbara Thorndyke in the remake?

by Anonymousreply 28January 3, 2016 2:03 PM

R28: How about Vanessa Redgrave? Won't be a stretch for her.

by Anonymousreply 29January 3, 2016 2:15 PM

Oh please

by Anonymousreply 30January 3, 2016 2:31 PM

Melissa McCarthy or Aidy Bryant could play Blanche's fat daughter in the remake. Also who could play Blanche's slutty niece Lucy? Maybe real life whore Whitney Cummings.

by Anonymousreply 31January 3, 2016 2:34 PM

[quote] Melissa McCarthy or Aidy Bryant could play Blanche's fat daughter in the remake.

And when she becomes a skinny redhead, I'm still available.

by Anonymousreply 32January 3, 2016 2:40 PM

Octavia Spencer as the older black woman that Dorothy's son marries.

by Anonymousreply 33January 3, 2016 2:44 PM

If this was for for stage or television, I think G would be perfect as Dorothy.

by Anonymousreply 34January 3, 2016 2:53 PM

Mary Steenburgen as Blanche's sister Charmaine.

by Anonymousreply 35January 3, 2016 3:00 PM

Kiernan Shipka as the pregnant teen Mary that is taken by the Golden Girls

Rico Rodriguez as the immigrant boy who is also Dorothy's student

Ed Helms as Dorothy's son-in-law aka the podiatrist/cheater

by Anonymousreply 36January 3, 2016 3:12 PM

Can't recreate or improve upon the original. Stop it now.

by Anonymousreply 37January 3, 2016 3:48 PM

If Caitlyn played Dorothy she could use Bea's original wardrobe.

by Anonymousreply 38January 3, 2016 6:28 PM

Some choices for Rose = Dawn Wells, Georgia Engel & my personal fav Dolly Parton who seems to be surprising similar to Rose in many ways:small town stories, perceived innocence & hides her true hair at all times.

by Anonymousreply 39January 3, 2016 7:38 PM

Dolly could never play ditzy or dumb.

by Anonymousreply 40January 3, 2016 7:40 PM

Joan Collins as Barbara Thorndyke. Because nobody plays "cunty" better than Joan Collins.

by Anonymousreply 41January 4, 2016 1:22 PM

The only actress that comes to mind (other than the younger 50's actress that played young Dorothy) is Geena Davis. She has the height, smarts, comedic chops & with her plastic surgery changes to her face I can easily see her sitting home on a Saturday night without a date. She's a perfect name for the role.

by Anonymousreply 42January 4, 2016 9:53 PM

[quote]Maybe real life whore Jennifer Lawrence.

Fixed that for you.

by Anonymousreply 43January 4, 2016 10:52 PM

Allison Janey as Dorothy Katey Sagal as Blanche Linda Grey as Rose Linda Lavin as Sophia

by Anonymousreply 47August 1, 2020 3:56 PM

R31 Excuse me?!?!

by Anonymousreply 48August 1, 2020 4:27 PM

R46 I love the Aussie version!

Rusty Crowe could be Stan.

by Anonymousreply 49August 1, 2020 6:13 PM

I'm available!!

by Anonymousreply 50August 1, 2020 6:15 PM

Those people are too old! Betty/Bea were 63 when Golden Girls started. Rue was only 51.

by Anonymousreply 51August 1, 2020 6:17 PM

Miss Ross does not participate in ensemble projects. Miss Ross is the only star in any movie she appears. For future reference, please do not look directly at Miss Ross when you see her, and when you are dismissed from her presence always bow repeatedly while backing out of the room. Thankyouverymuch!

by Anonymousreply 52August 1, 2020 7:58 PM

Elliot Gould as Stan is a great call. Not so sure about these others.

Maybe Holland Taylor as Barbara Thorndyke?

by Anonymousreply 53August 1, 2020 8:24 PM

R46 R49 Linda Hunt could play Sophia in your Aussie production.

by Anonymousreply 54August 1, 2020 10:51 PM

Ian McKellen as Dorothy

George Takei as Blanche

Derek Jacoby as Rose

Leslie Jordan as Sophia

by Anonymousreply 55August 1, 2020 11:01 PM
