...JIF or SKIPPY?

Creamy or Chunky?

by Anonymousreply 81April 30, 2020 1:09 AM

Jif Natural Chunky. For some reason, the taste has always been better, more "peanutty" andand less sweet. Like comparing Coke and Pepsi, I think. My peanut butter, when I actually eat any, has to be chunky.

by Anonymousreply 1September 29, 2015 2:32 PM

Jiff smooth, because...never mind.

by Anonymousreply 2September 29, 2015 2:35 PM

Skippy, chunky and -- best ever! -- Honey Nut flavor.

Sadly, I've recently only been able to find the Honey Nut (if at all) in the creamy version.

Bring back crunchy Honey Nut!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 3September 29, 2015 2:36 PM

Skippy Super Crunch!

by Anonymousreply 4September 29, 2015 3:00 PM

Jif creamy

by Anonymousreply 5September 29, 2015 3:07 PM

It's good on baloney sandwiches.

by Anonymousreply 6September 29, 2015 3:14 PM

Skippy Chunky.... this really should be a poll

by Anonymousreply 7September 29, 2015 3:20 PM

I like jiff smoothe. Peter Pan is good too!

by Anonymousreply 8September 29, 2015 3:22 PM

I used to be a huge fan of Jif natural chunky. Even before that, for years both chunky Jif and creamy Jif were staples in our house. But after I tried a jar of Trader Joe's all natural chunky, I can't eat anything else. The difference is so huge it's unbelieveable. Now I'm no Trader Joe's fanatic not at all. I don't often find things I like there even though I know people who would never go anywhere else. I'm not like that. But their peanut butter and their Ginger Carrot muffins are to die for.

by Anonymousreply 9September 29, 2015 3:24 PM

Peanut Butter should be chunky. You should be able to tell it came from peanuts.

Trader Joes chunky peanut butter with chia and flax seeds is the best shit ever though.

by Anonymousreply 10September 29, 2015 3:25 PM

Jif smooth with raspberry jam on Wonder Bread. Haven't had one a years.

by Anonymousreply 11September 29, 2015 3:35 PM

Jif creamy. It's a no brainer. The roasted peanut taste is superior to Skrimbleshanks in every way.

If you like Skippy better than Jif you haven't tasted them side by side.

It's that simple.

by Anonymousreply 12September 29, 2015 3:37 PM

Jif creamy is so good it can be used as a sexual lubricant and doubly so if you enjoy a creamy peanutty felch...

by Anonymousreply 13September 29, 2015 6:30 PM

I remember when I preferred "creamy" peanut butter. I was a child at summer camp.

Then I learned better, as you think any adult would.

by Anonymousreply 14September 29, 2015 6:38 PM

You all type fat.

by Anonymousreply 15September 29, 2015 6:42 PM

I've never tried the one with flax seeds. My TJ's peanut butter is just peanuts. Chunky. Next time I need to re-supply I'll look for the one with Flax seeds.

by Anonymousreply 16September 29, 2015 7:15 PM

both infested with chemicals for longer shelf life

by Anonymousreply 17September 29, 2015 7:20 PM

r17, I believe it will take some time but that the source of American longevity into the 90s and 100s will ultimately to be found to be the preservatives in our foods.

by Anonymousreply 18September 29, 2015 7:29 PM

The shit troll strikes again only you all fell for it.

by Anonymousreply 19September 29, 2015 7:51 PM

Whichever one is on sale.

r19, go away.

by Anonymousreply 23September 29, 2015 8:14 PM

My dogs go ape shit for peanut butter, I put just a tiny dot on their cookies.

Just get in your Prius and drive off a cliff, please.

Jif Chunky!

by Anonymousreply 26September 29, 2015 9:15 PM

[quote]My dogs go ape shit for peanut butter, I put just a tiny dot on their cookies.

And do you put it on your "cookies" too, so the dogs can lick it off you?

JIF Creamy

by Anonymousreply 28April 26, 2020 1:09 AM

JIF creamy

by Anonymousreply 29April 26, 2020 1:11 AM

Another yes for JIF Creamy. Which I had stuffed in celery sticks topped with raisins tonight for dinner.

by Anonymousreply 30April 26, 2020 1:19 AM

I like either brand but it has to be creamy (or smooth).

I used to eat the chunky kind until one day I shit a Snickers bar.

No more. Peanuts don’t digest.

by Anonymousreply 31April 26, 2020 1:23 AM

Laura Scudder's Smooth.

by Anonymousreply 38April 26, 2020 2:07 AM

We make our own peanut butter out of our own peanuts. We keep just a couple acres but it's enough for our own supplies, and the difference in quality really makes all the difference. We use about 40% of our crop on butter - it takes well over 500 peanuts per our 10 oz. jars (smaller jars make it easier to keep fresh).

Sorry you're reduced to Jif and Skippy (and Peter Pan). It's generally known among makers that if you have to use a popular commercial brand, Jif Creamy is the best of a rather bad lot.

by Anonymousreply 39April 26, 2020 2:09 AM

R6 Really, on bologna sandwiches? I'm gonna try it. I love grape jelly on lunch meat so am eager to try this. Maybe a PB&J with lunch meat in the middle?

by Anonymousreply 40April 26, 2020 2:10 AM

r39, what is your sugar ratio?

by Anonymousreply 41April 26, 2020 2:11 AM

Simply Jif (with less carbs), creamy.

by Anonymousreply 44April 26, 2020 2:30 AM

Skippy Creamy (and not that low-fat version)—Jiffy, please gurl, bye... :D

by Anonymousreply 45April 26, 2020 2:48 AM

In New England, there is peanut butter brand named Teddys that is the best by a wide margin to me. Just beanies and some salt. Delicious!

by Anonymousreply 46April 26, 2020 2:53 AM

Any peanut butter you have to stir is for yuppies.

by Anonymousreply 47April 26, 2020 2:59 AM

SKIPPY- super chunk - My grocery was all out this week in any size. They had JIF, but I hate it.

by Anonymousreply 48April 26, 2020 3:34 AM

R41, I use raw honey (we have hives) at 2 Tbs honey per 1000 grams of ground peanuts for sweeter (people getting gifts seem to like it sweeter) and 1 Tbs for home use, or none for our baking supply. For some I keep skins on, for some off. I do smooth and "crunchy," the former less smooth than commercial - my preference - and the latter just has added chopped peanuts. A small bit of salt gives a better flavor but I don't add any for the baking supply. A bit of peanut oil (purchased) sometimes is needed because of dryer nuts (Mary!).

No you know more than you probably wanted to know.

by Anonymousreply 49April 26, 2020 3:59 AM

Skippy Creamy. Everytime I use Jif, there's a disgusting layer of oil on the peanut butter. Which is why, I say, choosy dads choose Skippy.

by Anonymousreply 50April 26, 2020 6:11 AM

Why is chunky pb so hard to find these days? I noticed this even a few months prior to the whole lockdown thing.

by Anonymousreply 51April 26, 2020 6:15 AM

Peter Pan creamy

by Anonymousreply 52April 26, 2020 6:57 AM

I like Skippy creamy.

by Anonymousreply 53April 26, 2020 6:59 AM

I’m drinking a Pepsi Zero Sugar. Hee hee!

by Anonymousreply 54April 27, 2020 9:09 PM

Adams. No salt. Chunky.

by Anonymousreply 55April 27, 2020 9:27 PM

Has anyone ever tried the peanut butter at Hell's Kitchen in downtown Minneapolis? They use Spanish peanuts, salt, sugar, and honey so it's pretty sweet but delicious.

I've always been a creamy Jif fan but lately have been getting the "all natural" to skip the sugar, either Smucker's or the store brand. I will try Trader Joe's the next time I'm there.

Peter Pan smooth. Jif will do as a substitute, but it must be smooth.

People who claim that "natural" organic, homemade, low-sugar or low-salt tastes more like peanuts completely miss the point. If I want peanuts, I'll eat peanuts. Peanut butter is supposed to taste like peanut butter. Peanut butter should taste like the kind you ate as a kid, which for children with normal upbringings was mass-market PB. Salty, sweet, oily, peanut-y, in that order.

Otherwise, why bother?

by Anonymousreply 57April 27, 2020 10:01 PM

I buy cashew butter

by Anonymousreply 58April 28, 2020 12:29 AM

Jif chunky

by Anonymousreply 59April 28, 2020 12:30 AM

r58

Your type always does.

by Anonymousreply 60April 28, 2020 1:04 AM

[quote] In New England, there is peanut butter brand named Teddys that is the best by a wide margin to me. Just beanies and some salt

You can buy Teddie's with or w/o salt, chunky or smooth, and it contains no hydrogenated oils, no added sugar, mono and diglycerides or any other additives. I like the sans salt chunky version and have been using it for many years.

by Anonymousreply 61April 28, 2020 1:31 AM

No love for Peter Pan?

by Anonymousreply 62April 28, 2020 2:02 PM

I love Peter Pan (and Alan Sues, his 70s spokesperson).

JIF Creamy or DIAGF

by Anonymousreply 64April 28, 2020 2:23 PM

Peter Pan creamy

by Anonymousreply 65April 28, 2020 4:33 PM

Jif -- it has honey added and is therefore a little sweeter than other brands. I used to prefer chunky to smooth but then the chunky version was replaced by extra chunky, which is too dry. So I switched to smooth, which took some getting used to but it's OK now. I don't remember what brand my mother bought when I was a kid, probably the cheapest. I do remember Annette Funicello being the spokesperson for one brand, but not which one -- I see on Wikipedia that her brand was Skippy.

by Anonymousreply 66April 28, 2020 4:37 PM

Neither. I go to the health food store where they have a peanut grinder loaded with peanuts above. There's nothing better than fresh peanut butter with no preservatives or added sugar.

by Anonymousreply 67April 28, 2020 4:41 PM

One would think so, R67, but JIF is still better.

by Anonymousreply 68April 28, 2020 4:59 PM

Jif Creamy

by Anonymousreply 69April 28, 2020 5:06 PM

Smell her at r67!

by Anonymousreply 70April 28, 2020 5:22 PM

Jiff Creamy to make the perfect peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwich.

by Anonymousreply 71April 28, 2020 5:26 PM

r68 Jif (at least the regular kind) does not contain any honey.

by Anonymousreply 72April 28, 2020 6:14 PM

Butter is not to be "chunky" . It's butter, therefore it is smooth.

by Anonymousreply 73April 28, 2020 6:39 PM

Jif only! Love their honey infused version, either creamy or crunchy

by Anonymousreply 74April 28, 2020 7:15 PM

R72, you may be right that regular Jif doesn't contain honey (I assume you've read the ingredients list on the label, which I haven't done), but my husband believed that honey had been added and that Jif was therefore sweeter than any other peanut butter. I never saw any reason to doubt him or argue about it, so that's the brand we always bought and I do like it. Now that he's gone, I still buy Jif out of habit and I might feel as if I were dishonoring his memory to use anything else.

by Anonymousreply 76April 29, 2020 3:53 AM

Jif creamy! Chunky is just wrong. Chunky makes no sense- Why eat peanut butter if you really want chunky peanuts!

by Anonymousreply 77April 29, 2020 4:01 AM

I love all kinds of Peanut Butter. Now can we talk about jam? Cos I love jam. Every flavor of jam. And oh yeah! Jelly, too. Mmmmmm

by Anonymousreply 78April 29, 2020 4:01 AM

Skippy, creamy.

The consistency of Jif is all wrong.

by Anonymousreply 79April 29, 2020 4:03 AM

Anyone ever have a PB & J with Marshmallow Fluff sandwich? I used to make them when I was in my late teens.

by Anonymousreply 80April 29, 2020 5:52 PM

Without the J, the Fluffernutter is a classic unto itself.
