A successor must be someone up and coming--not someone who's been around for basically the same amount of time appealing to the same audience. Don't forget, Jonas was a pre-teeny-bopper idol. His day in the sun as a "successor to the throne" has passed. And I'm not so sure that Bieber is still on the throne.

Bieber was a BOY star, as was Jonas. Why don't they have separate but comparable "thrones"?

It'll be a while before another teen pop idol takes hold of the hearts of teen/tween/preteen girls like Bieber or One Direction have. Disney keeps trying though.

I liked Nick's first solo album but it seems the one hit was a fluke. He can't hits on his own. cutie for a shorty, though.

Justin Bieber sings rings around nasal Nick Jonas. Bieber also has an authentic connection to R&B hip/hop music styles whereas Jonas and his bros grift onto whatever is popular at the moment as evidenced by their constant genre hopping ever since they debuted. If Alternative Latin Dubstep was all the rage this year, Jonas would be performing it.

It is rather funny that Nick was thought of as the religious one but it is Bieber who is now singing songs about religion.

He and they are still immensely popular.
