Tasteful friends, what do we think of this 1840's Brooklyn house Norah Jones has just bought?

Me likey.

looks nice

Tasteful friends, this is old news, but did we talk about this house - Andy Samberg and musician Joanna Newsom have purchased Moorcrest, the famed 1920s house where Mary Astor and Charlie Chaplin once lived.

also further down on this page is the Beachwood Canyon's Krotona colony apartments (Krotona discussed on another thread)

She still has millions?

R1, that's awesome!

by Anonymousreply 3September 12, 2015 3:21 PM

I'll just never be a Brooklyn person, but that's so stunning and homey.

by Anonymousreply 4September 22, 2020 10:19 PM

I love EVERYTHING.

by Anonymousreply 5September 22, 2020 10:27 PM

The photos don't show the apt building next door that overlooks all her outdoor space. No privacy, no thanks.

by Anonymousreply 6September 22, 2020 10:30 PM

R6 yeah. That’s NYC. No privacy. If you catch someone staring you tell them to fuck off and you go about your day.

by Anonymousreply 7March 26, 2021 5:14 PM

“Tasteful Friends” back at it!

by Anonymousreply 8March 26, 2021 5:15 PM

R8 just don’t read it then 😘

by Anonymousreply 9March 26, 2021 5:20 PM

R6, that "apt building" is an early 20th c school building, now converted into coops. There aren't a lot of windows on the facade overlooking 172's garden, but the bottom line is that almost no garden space in NYC (whether ground level, terrace or rooftop) is free of other buildings' sitelines.

I'd live in this house in a heartbeat. I know Cobble Hill well (have family a few blocks over on Verandah Pl), and that block of Pacific St is just lovely. There are fantastic old carriage houses dotted around Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens/Bklyn Heights, but they tend to be much smaller than this converted firehouse.

The OCD Queen posts yet another 2015 Daily Fail article

Nora Jones has money? Didn't she win a few Grammys and quickly disappear?

by Anonymousreply 12March 26, 2021 5:49 PM

I dislike it entirely.

by Anonymousreply 13March 26, 2021 5:57 PM

I love it! And her.

by Anonymousreply 14March 26, 2021 6:00 PM

It's handy if you have a flock of birds you want to keep indoors.

[quote] She still has millions?

She's like Sade or Annie Lennox - they may not get much media attention or airplay but her albums sell pretty solid to the easy listening crowd.

by Anonymousreply 16March 26, 2021 6:22 PM

I like her songs. They put me to sleep

by Anonymousreply 17March 26, 2021 6:47 PM

I'm not really familiar with her music.

by Anonymousreply 18July 20, 2021 12:11 AM

WOW, I LOVE it.

by Anonymousreply 19July 20, 2021 12:18 AM

Apparently we have too many tasteful friends threads.

by Anonymousreply 20October 28, 2021 3:43 AM

I don't even know who Nora Jones is. There are thousands of singers/actors/reality "stars" these days and I just don't know the half of them.

by Anonymousreply 21October 28, 2021 3:46 AM

i love this.

by Anonymousreply 22October 28, 2021 3:48 AM

I’d take it in a heartbeat. Budget permitting. Which means never.

by Anonymousreply 23October 28, 2021 4:16 AM

Davida at r20 is bumping old 2015 threads again, I see.
