Me likey.
Tasteful friends, what do we think of this 1840's Brooklyn house Norah Jones has just bought?

looks nice
Tasteful friends, this is old news, but did we talk about this house - Andy Samberg and musician Joanna Newsom have purchased Moorcrest, the famed 1920s house where Mary Astor and Charlie Chaplin once lived.
also further down on this page is the Beachwood Canyon's Krotona colony apartments (Krotona discussed on another thread)

R1, that's awesome!

I'll just never be a Brooklyn person, but that's so stunning and homey.

I love EVERYTHING.

The photos don't show the apt building next door that overlooks all her outdoor space. No privacy, no thanks.

R6 yeah. That’s NYC. No privacy. If you catch someone staring you tell them to fuck off and you go about your day.

“Tasteful Friends” back at it!

R8 just don’t read it then 😘

R6, that "apt building" is an early 20th c school building, now converted into coops. There aren't a lot of windows on the facade overlooking 172's garden, but the bottom line is that almost no garden space in NYC (whether ground level, terrace or rooftop) is free of other buildings' sitelines.
I'd live in this house in a heartbeat. I know Cobble Hill well (have family a few blocks over on Verandah Pl), and that block of Pacific St is just lovely. There are fantastic old carriage houses dotted around Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens/Bklyn Heights, but they tend to be much smaller than this converted firehouse.

Nora Jones has money? Didn't she win a few Grammys and quickly disappear?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | March 26, 2021 5:49 PM |
I dislike it entirely.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | March 26, 2021 5:57 PM |
I love it! And her.

It's handy if you have a flock of birds you want to keep indoors.

She's like Sade or Annie Lennox - they may not get much media attention or airplay but her albums sell pretty solid to the easy listening crowd.

I like her songs. They put me to sleep
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 26, 2021 6:47 PM |
I'm not really familiar with her music.

Apparently we have too many tasteful friends threads.

I don't even know who Nora Jones is. There are thousands of singers/actors/reality "stars" these days and I just don't know the half of them.

i love this.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 28, 2021 3:48 AM |
I’d take it in a heartbeat. Budget permitting. Which means never.
