Sex Addiction
Do you know anyone with a sex addiction? A friend of mine has a sex addiction and hooks up every single day with someone. Every time we get together he's always either coming from or going to a hookup. He's poz now but I'm pretty sure he's upfront about his status.
I am sure I'm going to be accused of being wither judgmental or jealous (or both). And maybe I am. But all of this sex is not making him happy.

A close friend of mine has a sex addition. Cannot keep away from the hookers, and cheats on every person he has a relationship with.

I have two friends who are regulars at the local bathhouse ........ not an every day event, but I'd say on average once or twice a week .........one of them lives a block away and may be there more often than he tells me. Both are very open about it. The one friend attended sex addict meetings and was hooking up with other attendees. True story.

Whats the difference between sex addiction and plain ole sluttiness?

I struggled with it for years. Recovery rate is almost zero. It makes giving up booze and pills a walk in the park.

It tore apart an amazing relationship I had. And yes, he wasn't happy either. A lot of shame and guilt and remorse over putting himself in some unpleasant situations. I think he's recovered but I really don't know. The bigger question sometimes is why they have this particular addiction and the answers to that can be devastating.

I'm a sex addict. The only regret I have about it so far is how much time I've wasted cruising. I don't know why I feel compelled to do it, but yeah—the daily conquest thing is real.

Meditative solitude, out of every day and in a potentially public place, is important. Going for a walk in the woods (not to hook up but just alone) is a good break from the constant impulse to orgasm.

I would say my best friend in college had a massive sex addiction. Pursuing it took up all of his non-working waking hours. He died of AIDS in 1989 in San Francisco. RIP Michael Hallahan. Sadly missed.

So can a guy who can't get laid be a sex addict?

Sex Addict is synonymous with gay men. Glory Holes, tons of porn, Grinder, Craig's List, bathhouses, parks,

My addiction is weird. I like to go to spas, cruising places, sex clubs, nude parties and watch other people having sex. For the fear of stds I am Mary! and just watch.

He doesn't do this to 'make himself happy' OP. He does it to feel a fast high and then emotional numbness.

General loneliness and sex addiction go hand in hand. People who constantly go to sex clubs just want to be with other people; they want to be desired, to have friends.
It could easily be replaced with a sport or hobby

R26 the frigid Frau who holds it all together while the wild man runs wild is a classic relationship combo for straights.

Yeah. It was a high for them, and then a craving. It wasn't pretty. Addiction rarely is.
