Guys and eyebrows-your thoughts on maintaining/styling them?

Regardless of sexual orientation, even eyebrows for guys are a talking point these days. Some guys keep them "au naturel" and don't do anything at all. Others do the bare minimum which would be just cutting/pulling out very long eyebrow hairs. Then you have guys who have little eyebrow brushes and cut their hairs to keep them short. The most extreme men of course are the ones who will shape/thin their eyebrows.

What do you do with yours, if anything? What do you think looks best?

I'm 1 of those guys who only pulls out any very long pieces I find. Other than that, nothing. I don't trim or shape mine at all.

by Anonymousreply 74April 11, 2020 3:27 AM

Just take out the unibrow area...otherwise don't touch... just my opinion.

by Anonymousreply 1August 27, 2015 3:45 AM

I have very thick hair and brows.

When I go to the hairstylist she uses her comb to kinda lift and extend the brow.

Then she lightly buzzes the ends with clippers.

This keeps them from being unruly.

Unibrows have long been considered sexy in the Middle East!

IMMEDIATE turn off if they are sculpted and plucked. the rest of the guy can be great, but all I can think about is this

people think i sculpt my eyebrows but i don't.... they just look that way. should i get unruly eyebrow implants grafted from my pubes or something?

by Anonymousreply 6August 27, 2015 4:00 AM

I recommend threading. Almost painless, fast, thorough, precise.

Just be sure they have a full beauty school education and a stasi issued license.

They will be holding thread near your delicate face, so you'll want to take the necessary safety measures.

Bon chance, brave one.

by Anonymousreply 7August 27, 2015 4:09 AM

It never looks right when men shape their eyebrows. Getting rid of a unibrow, trimming and getting rid of unruly strands is fine.

by Anonymousreply 8August 27, 2015 4:16 AM

Threaded brows make all the diff!

I don't do anything but believe one should do whatever makes one happy. The only people who will notice are those who don't like you and who cares what they think.

Nothing will get you blocked quicker on my grindr than plucked brows. IT NEVER LOOKS GOOD, MEN, SO PLEASE STOP.

by Anonymousreply 13August 27, 2015 5:25 AM

I like thick, neat brows that look natural

by Anonymousreply 14August 27, 2015 5:46 PM

I get mine trimmed at the barber when I get my hair cut. They got out of control at the same time I started losing leg hair--why is that?

by Anonymousreply 15August 27, 2015 5:52 PM

Really, R14?

I trim the ends of the long ones. Some of them grow like fish hooks. I slick them down with a bit of moisturizer every morning.

by Anonymousreply 17August 27, 2015 6:03 PM

Barber trims them. I could never do it myself.

by Anonymousreply 18August 27, 2015 6:14 PM

Davy Jones had great brows;

R1 is right.

I believe plucked and/or trimmed eyebrows ruin a man's looks to roughly the same degree as being 100 pounds overweight.

One of the reasons I prefer men's faces to women's faces are the fuller, thicker eyebrows.

by Anonymousreply 20August 27, 2015 9:37 PM

R16 those don't look neat at all. way too bushy!

by Anonymousreply 26August 27, 2015 10:21 PM

Immediate turnoff. The guy could be otherwise perfect and I'd still pass. Except for getting rid of the unibrow just no.

Unruly, bushy eyebrows add at least 2-5 years to the face. Have a barber neaten them up if needed. No need to over do it, but it can make a nice difference for little money and effort.

Eyebrows make or break the face.

by Anonymousreply 33August 30, 2015 8:24 PM

I follow Carmindy's advice for. NwTW. Brush up and trim what extends over the natural brow line. Unibrow is another story. Bless your unibrow hearts!

by Anonymousreply 34August 30, 2015 8:25 PM

What a PLUCKY little thread!

by Anonymousreply 35August 30, 2015 8:26 PM

What people do should often, or will often, depend on age. Old men must trim their eyebrows to look professional and not like an old geezer. Middle aged men will need to pull out long hairs. Young me it depends on what is naturally there. I had perfect brows from 15-40 I would say and never did anything. Then in my 40s I pulled out long hairs. Then I pulled out the odd gray hair. Then finally there was enough gray hair that it made sense to let it mix in. Now in my fifties the hair is going towards old geezer. Also the EAR HAIR, which I never had, appears. Barf.

by Anonymousreply 36August 30, 2015 8:26 PM

Brezhnev's unibrow looks like a war map for invading neutral countries.

I pluck the white hairs.

by Anonymousreply 51August 30, 2015 11:13 PM

My barber cuts them. This has been the standard practice for ages. I am not much for the plucked look that some guys have. But doing nothing is not a great look either.

by Anonymousreply 52August 30, 2015 11:42 PM

I slap my partner's face until the eyebrow hairs fall out

by Anonymousreply 53September 13, 2015 7:00 PM

I wish mine were thicker, especially towards the ends. Anyone ever put Rogaine or similar on their brows?

by Anonymousreply 54September 13, 2015 7:13 PM

I pluck the white ones and run my clipper over them with the #1 comb. Produces a not really noticeably changed brow. Just cleaner. NO shaping.

I have white hairs growing in the exact center of both brows where my cat used to chew them.

Was she trying to tell me I had eyebrow cancer or did she know they would one day be unfortunate looking?

by Anonymousreply 57September 13, 2015 8:15 PM

You can color those brows when you color your hair r57

by Anonymousreply 58September 13, 2015 8:26 PM

I have no eyebrows! Whaaa!

by Anonymousreply 59September 13, 2015 8:31 PM

I need to start dying my eyebrows. I don't like the gray ones sprouting.

by Anonymousreply 60September 13, 2015 8:38 PM

What is all this about grey or white eyebrows? Are you all 100?

by Anonymousreply 61September 13, 2015 8:41 PM

I use an electric trimmer on them. It works perfectly, I think. I have one white hair I pull or cut to the base. Rarely I shave the spot between them, but I don't really have a unibrow.

Hispanics, especially poor ones, seem to really over do it. I worked with this one Hispanic (but not poor) guy who came to a meeting once with clipped and sculpted eyebrows. I couldn't stop giggling, literally. I completely disrupted the meeting, and couldn't say "Rommel trimmed his eyebrows and just looks adorable".

I don't shape them, I just hack them back so I don't look like an old geezer.

I will also yank any wild super long ones. I have a mild case of trichotillomania, so I just have to watch it or I will absentmindedly pull them all out anyway.

by Anonymousreply 66September 13, 2015 9:19 PM

r64, he totally has them done, but he does not over do it. His barber takes out some in the unibrow area to open up his face some.

by Anonymousreply 73April 11, 2020 2:57 AM

I trim mine same time I cut my hair, buzzcut myself with a trimmer thing. Otherwise they gets unruly

I dont mind plucked trimmed etc eyebrows, but I like fem guys anyways so kinda comes with the territory
