A quick look and search of the FiveThirtyEight web site would show you that Nate Silver had predicted a Conservative Party victory the day before the election (just not as big as it turned out to be) - see article: "What To Expect On Election Night In The U.K." dated May 7th; and on September 3rd of 2014, 538 had the headline: "FiveThirtyEight’s Senate Model Is Back And It Gives Republicans The Edge." No where in August did he say anything about Democrats having an 85% chance of retaining the Senate.
