Guardian piece on why Hillary Clinton should bow out gracefully while she still has her dignity.

Really great article and I hope it's being read and considered by those who are advising Hillary Clinton.

OP is the anti-Hillary troll. Go back to freerepublic, moron.

by Anonymousreply 1August 23, 2015 4:38 PM

Wow, r1. No words.

by Anonymousreply 2August 23, 2015 4:48 PM

The Guardian article was rather lacklustre in its reasoning and argument. What was far more compelling were the Reader Comments, some of which were quite informative, stating reasonably and clearly why Clinton should bow out.

by Anonymousreply 3August 23, 2015 4:49 PM

Yes, I'm sure the people advising the front runner will tell her to drop out. That makes perfect sense.

by Anonymousreply 4August 23, 2015 4:49 PM

[quote]Yes, I'm sure the people advising the front runner will tell her to drop out.

Front runner NOW. Will Clinton still be the front runner in another year closer to elections is what you should be concerned about.

by Anonymousreply 5August 23, 2015 4:52 PM

You have to be a huge liar to pretend to be a "fan" and then tell her to drop out. Would you really prefer Jeb Bush as president? What the hell is wrong with you?

r2 is pissed at getting called out

by Anonymousreply 6August 23, 2015 5:00 PM

Recall she had pretty much the same money pot in 2008 and was usurped by President Obama. And don't count out Bernie Sanders as his message resonates just like that of candidate Obama back in 2007/2008.

by Anonymousreply 7August 23, 2015 5:11 PM

Freepers... Freepers....

by Anonymousreply 8August 23, 2015 5:20 PM

Why is one a freeper for not liking Clinton. Clinton is a war hawk and conservative democrat. If you are a real liberal you should vote for Bernie Sanders or even O'malley.

by Anonymousreply 9August 23, 2015 5:35 PM

Clinton fangirls do not like dissent. Hillary polls under 50% now. Her poll numbers are worse at this time then they were in 2008.

by Anonymousreply 10August 23, 2015 5:39 PM

F & f op. Seriously fUCK the evil and cynical divide and conquer tatics of the right. REPUBLICANS OPENLY Appealing to racism of the ignorant masses. Trying to instill dischord among.blacks and Latibs. among Gays and Blacks,. Not having one idea about how to he,lp people Fuck u OP

by Anonymousreply 11August 23, 2015 5:40 PM

I'll be elected President before Bernie Sanders. He hasn't got a hope in hell and all the alleged Democrats trying to "discourage" Hillary supporters are just Tea Partiers who are scared shitless of the Clintons.

by Anonymousreply 12August 23, 2015 5:43 PM

Is the argument she should get out because she is going to lose? Shouldn't someone tell about a dozen Republican candidates that first?

by Anonymousreply 13August 23, 2015 5:43 PM

Joe Biden just met with E Warren. Offered her the VP slot. IF she says yes... goodbye Hillary.

by Anonymousreply 14August 23, 2015 5:46 PM

r14 I was surprised about that. You would think Biden would be loyal to Clinton. Strange. This will be an interesting election.

by Anonymousreply 15August 23, 2015 5:48 PM

Biden can't be elected. He's such a klutz and clueless. And Warren isn't stupid enough to go along with him. She doesn't want Veep. Veep's crap. She wants Dept of the Treasury and Clinton will give it to her.

Clinton would not give her Treasury. She'll give it to a Wall Street tool.

by Anonymousreply 18August 23, 2015 6:01 PM

Why yes, yes, YES! Hillary will win the nom, win the election, and be the first female president... but should drop out because she has "isshoos!" and won't be effective. No, not like that Jeb! who'll just sail into office and start another war in the Middle East, or Trump, who'll instigate the biggest forced mass migration in the history of the planet, or Walker, who will complete the nightmarish vision of Reagan, leaving us with an oligarchy and hordes of people so poor they can't afford to retire, let alone live with any dignity...

Yeah, drop out Hills, because we can all see how a president faced with unprecedented obstruction just can't get a damn thing done.

by Anonymousreply 19August 23, 2015 6:07 PM

At this point in the election cycle I would rather have it be a Biden versus Trump election ... than Trump versus the Hillary. Biden may have foot in mouth disease however in our current selfie culture this is now a plus. Biden: Plain speaking just like Truman, populist (in appearance) but not too 'out there' like Bernie. Not an insider.. .. (in appearance) like the Hill.

by Anonymousreply 20August 23, 2015 6:09 PM

[quote]Front runner NOW. Will Clinton still be the front runner in another year closer to elections is what you should be concerned about.

So, she should drop out of the race as the frontrunner because she may not be the frontrunner in a year? That's not exactly sound advice. In fact, it makes no sense at all.

by Anonymousreply 21August 23, 2015 6:12 PM

Biden does not have Hill's negatives. Plus tragic 1st wife's death, son's military career and death, can do the good ole boy thing. Easily digestible and un-threatening story line. I don't think Hill's should drop out... Dem's simply need electable options.

by Anonymousreply 22August 23, 2015 6:24 PM

President Hillary Rodham Clinton, the 45th President of the United States of America.

by Anonymousreply 23August 23, 2015 6:31 PM

[quote]Biden may have foot in mouth disease however in our current selfie culture this is now a plus

If it was honorable, the Obama administration wouldn't have had to muzzle him for the last four years.

Biden's going to tout the accomplishments of the Obama administration, and the opposition will drag out every time he spoke out against the President in return.

by Anonymousreply 24August 23, 2015 6:33 PM

Hillary has no integrity. She certainly doesn't care about dignity. She just wants power and money and she doesn't give a rats ass how she gets it.

by Anonymousreply 25August 23, 2015 6:35 PM

[quote] Biden does not have Hill's negatives.

Not even Hillary has Hillary's negatives. What she does have is a Republican attach machine that will never stop manufacturing scandal. Biden hasn't been scrutinized for decades, in the same manner that Hillary has. Which means new scandals to create and exploit.

by Anonymousreply 26August 23, 2015 6:37 PM

To be honest, I don't care if she is effective as president. I want her to run and win so that she will be the first. And I have no problem saying that.

by Anonymousreply 27August 23, 2015 6:37 PM

correction:

republican attack

by Anonymousreply 28August 23, 2015 6:38 PM

Really, R25? Hillary's only path to power and money leads through the Oval?

by Anonymousreply 29August 23, 2015 6:38 PM

The author looks like the spinster lesbian locked up in Downton Abbey's attic.

by Anonymousreply 30August 23, 2015 6:41 PM

Yawn. Remember all the concern troll posts last 2 elections about how Obama was sure to lose? Same concern trolls doing the same old thing. Really not worth getting worked up about it.

by Anonymousreply 31August 23, 2015 6:54 PM

Why, r27, is being the first any excuse to vote for someone. This isn't a popularity contest, it is a presidential election.

by Anonymousreply 32August 23, 2015 6:57 PM

[quote]Recall she had pretty much the same money pot in 2008 and was usurped by President Obama. And don't count out Bernie Sanders as his message resonates just like that of candidate Obama back in 2007/2008.

It's a ridiculous comparison. Obama was a young, well-spoken political rising star in the Democratic party with a (semi) glamorous wife and two young daughters running at the end of the Bush administration, which had left the country depressed, near ruin, and primed for his brilliant "Hope and Change" message. Sanders is an elderly Jewish socialist with no major party affiliation who comes off like a crank the second he wanders off message (and sometimes even when he's on message). It's never going to happen.

by Anonymousreply 33August 23, 2015 7:02 PM

I'd prefer our first female president not be the wife of another president but somebody who made it on her own. But that's just me.

by Anonymousreply 34August 23, 2015 7:04 PM

R11, this from the fucking GUARDIAN!!!!

If you are going to call everyone who does not like or plan to vote for Hillary a Freeper then it's going to be a long fucking election.

I do not like her and do not want to vote for her but if she is the nominee I may have to hold my nose as I consider the Supreme Court too important.

You do her no favors by screeching "Freeper" at those who question the strength of her candidacy.

by Anonymousreply 35August 23, 2015 7:29 PM

Oops. You actually never called me a Freeper, r11, so I apologize BUT your message is essentially the same.

by Anonymousreply 36August 23, 2015 7:31 PM

Biden is Obama's puppet, the tool he will use to get an unofficial 3rd term.

--I've heard that 3 times this week from talk radio conservatives. They're ready and waiting for him to jump in.

by Anonymousreply 37August 23, 2015 7:37 PM

One does wonder why the Guardian would run such a hit piece. I'm guessing they'd strongly prefer Bernie or Eliz. Warren.

But the endless Hillary hit pieces on DL reek of GOP operatives.

by Anonymousreply 38August 23, 2015 7:41 PM

Biden would slide out from under whatever negatives attach to Obama...which frankly have to do with race more than anything else. With E Warren as an active VP we set up 8 more liberal-ish years easily. r38 I'm a concerned democrat who will hold my nose regardless to stave off the right wing. We need to be able to win and I'm not seeing anything from Hill's world that inspires any confidence. Simply more crony big money politics.

by Anonymousreply 39August 23, 2015 7:46 PM

Oh yes, by all means let's give talk radio conservatives and Fixed News assholes exactly what they want - anyone but Hillary. Hillary will kick their asses. Hillary doesn't give a flying fuck what they want. Hillary's been dealing with their bullshit for 25 years, it doesn't even phase her now. Hillary will win - so of course they want to get rid of her. Their fake "scandals" aren't sticking and they're freaking out.

Then we have the socialist/occupy datalounge/extremist lefties who agree with the right wing assholes. Nice friends you're working with there. No one who is liberal enough to satisfy you will win the next presidential election - period. Grow up and get over it.

Both sets of pain in the ass whiners - Stop trying to make Biden/Sanders happen. It's not going to happen.

by Anonymousreply 40August 23, 2015 7:48 PM

Biden = Al Gore redux.

He'll lose.

by Anonymousreply 41August 23, 2015 7:51 PM

[quote] Simply more crony big money politics.

You're welcome!

by Anonymousreply 42August 23, 2015 7:54 PM

Yeah, the overwhelming favorite and leader always "bows out gracefully"! Idiot.

by Anonymousreply 43August 23, 2015 8:54 PM

Why isn't right wing money attacking Trump in the same manner as Clinton? Even Fox seems to have deferred to Trump.

by Anonymousreply 44August 23, 2015 9:06 PM

OP it too arrogant to to anything gracefully.

by Anonymousreply 45August 23, 2015 9:34 PM

No need to bow out, the Obama machine will see to it that she's kicked to the curb, just like her last attempt at being Madam President.

by Anonymousreply 46August 23, 2015 9:36 PM

Hillary drowning her sorrows checks in at R45

by Anonymousreply 47August 23, 2015 9:47 PM

Wasn't Joe Biden's voting record in the senate far more conservative than Hillary's (she was 11th most liberal)? I'll help you out. It was. He also voted to give DWB the authorization to go to war if that was his choice....so there's that Hillary Haterbots!

by Anonymousreply 48August 23, 2015 10:29 PM

GWB, not DWB, sorry about the typo.

by Anonymousreply 49August 23, 2015 10:30 PM

For those who unconditionally support Hillary, I recommend you do a thorough vetting one weekend (or two since there's a lot) of the baggage that this writer and many other writers talk about from across political spectrums. The image that has been carefully (or carelessly) crafted is not the whole picture when you look at the totality of how Clinton got to where she is and who and what she had to sacrifice to get there.

by Anonymousreply 50August 24, 2015 12:19 AM

And while you're at it OP, you might compare your pseudo-bipartisan "vetting" against the 65 gigatons of manufactured "scandals" funded by Scaife and excreted by the GOP over the last 25 years.

I would bet there's considerable overlap.

by Anonymousreply 51August 24, 2015 12:31 AM

Sure, r51. But I know that much of it is valid.

by Anonymousreply 52August 24, 2015 12:43 AM

Blah blah blahblah blah blah blah HILLARY! blah blah blah blah EVIL! blah blah blah BILL blah blah BLOWJOB blah blah blah BENGHAZI blah blah blahblahblah blah EMAIL blah blah blah TRUMPTRUMPTRUMP blahblah.

OP/DUMBvida, are you laboring (oh how you labor) under the impression that we have collectively been in a coma for 25 years? Are the voices in your head telling you that we have amnesia?

Do you think we've forgotten Bill's first run for president and Hillary's vetting then?

Or his second run for president and Hillary's vetting then?

Or the endless investigations and vetting of Hillary that went on while Bill was in office?

Or the vetting when she ran for Senator the first time?

Or the vetting when she ran for Senator again?

Or the vetting when she spend TWO YEARS running for president the last time?

Or the vetting when she was nominated for Secretary of State?

Or the vetting during her tenure as Secretary of State?

We have never had a presidential candidate who has been constantly vetted for 25 years the way that Hillary Clinton has been vetted.

OP/DUMBvida you are - as always - 100% wrong. Just shut the fuck up you useless, brainless, pointless cunt.

by Anonymousreply 53August 24, 2015 12:47 AM

Hillary Clinton is the most vetted Presidential candidate in history. We know more about her politics, associates, land holdings, finances, career highs and lows, and even marital difficulties than anyone else who ever came within spitting distance of the Oval Office.

by Anonymousreply 54August 24, 2015 1:15 AM

That's all well and fine but she voted for Iraq war. Her "accomplishments" as Secretary of State are nil. She just climbed that ladder rung by painful rung and put up (lied?) about Bill's shenanigans. She looks exhausted on the campaign trail, no steam at all, just the same old same old. You know she's just putting on that 'game face.' It is exhausting just looking at her trying to look excited and knowing right under that pancake make-up is a thinly - disguised layer of desperation. Not buyin' it, sorry.

by Anonymousreply 55August 24, 2015 1:43 AM

You think she looks tired, that's the best you've got?

Okay, twat, you just keep whining and we'll vote for the next President of the United States, Hillary Clinton.

by Anonymousreply 56August 24, 2015 1:53 AM

Biden's negative is that no one is excited to have Biden running. It'll be John Kerry redux.

On the other hand lots of people are very excited that we may have the first female president. Many also love Hillary herself.

Warren for VP would only excite the left wing. Righties have no idea who she is

by Anonymousreply 57August 24, 2015 1:59 AM

R55, Hillary DID NOT vote for war. She voted to allow Bush to have all options without returning to the Senate for another vote. Bush promised war would be the last option but, instead, soon after the Senate vote, he declared war.

As for when she was Secretary of State, Hillary spent all her time repairing the damage Bush had done to our relationships with our allies. She flew to a record number of countries as Secretary

by Anonymousreply 58August 24, 2015 2:02 AM

I feel like I'm having a nightmare every time I see Trump's name in association with being POTUS.

by Anonymousreply 59August 24, 2015 2:04 AM

R50, the reason we love Hillary is because we've have over 20 years of thorough vetting.

We also know that everything the GOP tries to manufacture about her is a complete lie

by Anonymousreply 60August 24, 2015 2:04 AM

R53 exactly. No candidate in history has ever had to put up with the mudslinging Hillary has. She can take it. Give up OP. You're a dumb asshole freeper.

The media hate the Clintons. Always have. The Clintons never sucked up to the media like others have (notably Obama), never granted them extraordinary access. And the media just hates that. Fuck them. Hillary's going to be the next President.

by Anonymousreply 61August 24, 2015 2:22 AM

Has it not occurred to anyone that Biden was doing Hillary a favor by drawing attention away this weekend, while letting the republicans implode over Trump? Biden has not mentioned running, has no operation in any of the early voting states, and didn't attend the Ohio Fair, which every other candidate did, not to mention the whole money factor, where he's starting from zero. Biden baited the media with Warren's assistance, and every Sunday morning pundit fell for it. It was the friggin' lead on Snuffleuupugus' hour, and the entire B block on MTP, pushing the email non-scandal to the bottom of the hour. Fox couldn't contain their glee reporting the "secret meeting."

Meanwhile, Trump couldn't answer basic questions, the republican establishment is freaking out, the email non-scandal isn't sticking, and Walker has become the manager of the National House of Waffling, unable to give a straight answer on whether or not he supports the Constitutiton, and where's Jeb!?

This is what I love about the Clintons. They play chess while republicans struggle with checkers.

by Anonymousreply 62August 24, 2015 6:26 AM

Solve the problem. Draft Howard Dean.

by Anonymousreply 63August 24, 2015 8:28 AM

Bill Clinton is - bar none - the greatest politician of the 20th century. The guy is brilliant, charismatic and efficient. If Hillary can manage to rope in just 50% of his talents, she's home free.

People who lived and worked through the Clinton years have nothing but good memories despite all the harassment from the GOP (and the harassment of Obama is nothing compared to how much the GOP hated Clinton). He soldiered through the most brutal attempt at a coup d'etat in history. Clinton's a winner and people know that.

by Anonymousreply 64August 24, 2015 6:10 PM

Why would Hillary have any political prowess because of her husband?

by Anonymousreply 65August 24, 2015 6:13 PM

R65 how dumb are you? Just like Bill Clinton told us when he was elected, we've got 2 for the price of 1.

by Anonymousreply 66August 24, 2015 6:39 PM

Actually, r66, how dumb are you?

by Anonymousreply 67August 24, 2015 6:40 PM

[quote]Why would Hillary have any political prowess because of her husband?

She has plenty of political prowess on her own, having won two senate races and gone further than any woman ever has as a potential major party candidate for president. Because of her connections to her husband, she's also been at the forefront of two successful Gubernatorial campaigns and two successful campaigns for the presidency.

by Anonymousreply 68August 24, 2015 8:07 PM

Does that mean Bill lost in 2008 too?

by Anonymousreply 69August 24, 2015 10:12 PM

Bye bye Hillary

by Anonymousreply 70August 24, 2015 11:26 PM

If Obama is supporting Biden that means he wants the Democrats to lose. Which really is sort of in Obama's character. He's incredibly narcissistic and picked Biden as VP because he knew he was no competition for him and had no star quality. Obama can be the only star in the room.

Really shitty of him if he wants the Democrats to lose.

by Anonymousreply 71August 25, 2015 12:47 AM

The saint is now the devil. He will do anything to make sure his star is the brightest.

by Anonymousreply 72August 25, 2015 12:52 AM

Please, a President giving his "blessing" (I don't know where they got that term) is standard procedure. Biden is part of the Obama Administration, and this means he'll be absent a great deal of the time. It's tradition that you ask, and it's also tradition that the President says yes.

Let's not read too much into this.

by Anonymousreply 73August 25, 2015 12:57 AM

The Guardian is slamming HRC because she is too right wing for them.

by Anonymousreply 74August 25, 2015 1:05 AM

Whatever, I like Joe Biden but he has no chance. If it fucks with the Republicans, good. If it fucks with Hillary, get the fuck out.

You know, I'm sick to death of hearing "She voted for the Iraq War" and then people going on about how it was just a vote to authorize but not really war and blah blah blah. It was and it wasn't. We all knew the score and you know what? Fuck 'em.

You 're goddamn right she voted to go into Iraq and under the same circumstances with the same intelligence lies from President Bush & Co., she'd do the same thing again as would everyone else. Had President Obama been in the Senate at that time, he'd have voted for it too. It's fine for you and I to sit outside of Washington and say "Oh no, don't vote for that!" or "How could you vote for that?" but we aren't in office and we aren't running for office. It's a whole different ballgame for those people.

It's also easy to say a lot of shit all these years after 9/11 but that's the benefit of hindsight. At the time things were very different than they were/are years later.

by Anonymousreply 75August 25, 2015 1:07 AM

Biden also voted for the Iraq War.
