Well, they should have published this at the start of the season, not the end.

New York. It would be great if not for its citizens.

by Anonymousreply 2August 21, 2015 11:08 PM

It's all Ads. And Chicago is a great city to visit. Just stay out of the south side and you don't have much to worry about. Ads to appeal to folks scared of crime that isn't likely to affect you in the areas a tourist would ever visit.

[quote]New York. It would be great if not for its citizens.

Lived here my whole life and this kind of remark never fails to mystify me.

Just this morning at 8:50am I saw, on park ave between 47th and 48th, a family of Spanish tourists stretched across most of the east sidewalk, the parents puzzling over a map, the four kids stretched out on both sides of them. I mean they were RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SIDEWALK, at 8:50am. I am pleased to report that the tidal wave of humanity flowing down the sidewalk, rushing to get to work, parted neatly for this family, flowing around them like a river around a boulder. Not one person bumped into them. It was a sight to see.

This kind of thing happens all the time. And the people I see littering most often are tourists and bridge-and-tunnel types, the kind of people who then go home and say how dirty New York is.

Agree R4 it's the TOURISTS that are the annoying one's in NYC. City folks get how to coexist..tourists not so much. But they help keep the taxes lower and bring in a lot of money so you tolerate them. It's huge business in NYC. My fav times in the city were always Jan/Feb which were the low seasons for tourists The summer and the November/December periods are crazy

by Anonymousreply 5August 21, 2015 11:56 PM

Definitely right about Shitcago. The only people who defend are those too poor to move.

by Anonymousreply 6August 22, 2015 12:14 AM

by Anonymousreply 8August 22, 2015 12:46 AM

It's hard to take seriously a click-bait article that talks about crime being "perpetuated."

by Anonymousreply 9August 22, 2015 1:02 AM

The just don't go R8..They won't miss you.

by Anonymousreply 10August 22, 2015 1:24 AM

R7 I grew up in CT and was always told that Meriden was a pit - full of ex cons. Depressing.

New York landlord running for pres. Obama almost too good for this tacky country, so one of our local diseases in human form is toying with the US public. NYC, however, remains a great living history.

Or fistory, if you are talking meatpacking mineshafts.

I find it incredible that anybody loans Trump money

I love New York, best time of my life there, on par with San Franciso, LA and Honolulu. Love them all - great cities and great people.
