Which aspects/icons etc... of past popular culture are the younger generations of today still aware of?
The Beatles, obviously.
Audrey Hepburn.
Swinging '60s London (& many aspects of it) also seems to be very popular with young people.
Anything else? There must be a lot more....'70s America?
(This is a follow up the conversation going on in the Laurel & Hardy thread).

Just waiting for some old queen to type the words "Judy Garland"
I assume An Unmarried Woman is a joke.
It's a quaint notion that things of our generation are remembered by later generations. Few are.

Audrey Hepburn!? I doubt it!
I don't think kids under 30 today can even name the seven castaways on Gilligan's Island, and that hurts me.

Yes, I see Audrey merch everywhere from Barnes and Noble to Wal-Mart. She never goes out of style! Also Marilyn Monroe.

I'm 23 I've noticed some my friends and colleagues really like James Dean, Marlon Brando, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Paul Newman, Elvis and listen to 60s music.

I was twenty three in the 80s and he was very popular with young people then too. His image was all over everything.

R26 I think Madonna is not so well known with Gen Z? "Get Into the Groove" maybe because it sounds so 80s
She wrecked it by staying around too long so she just seems uncool rather than retro.

Kids know The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, Marvin Gaye, The Stones, Elvis, Buddy Holly, and The Supremes.
Kids don't know Rod Stewart, Linda Rondstadt, The Everly Brothers, The Osmonds, Leif Garrett, Annette Funicello, Neil Sedaka, or Barbara Streisand.

They certainly don't know the classic stars like Clark Gable - I know, I asked my nieces and nephews (ages under 25). They didn't even know who Charlie Chaplin was.

How about Andy Warhol? I was in college when he died and mentioned it to my friend and he didn’t know who he was. I thought everyone knew about him back then, but can’t think that kids today would except maybe the really artsy ones.
