Bernie Sanders BEATING Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire
Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders has rocketed past longtime front-runner Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire, a stunning turn in a race once considered a lock for the former secretary of state, a new Franklin Pierce University/Boston Herald poll shows. Sanders leads Clinton 44-37 percent among likely Democratic primary voters, the first time the heavily favored Clinton has trailed in the 2016 primary campaign, according to the poll of 442 Granite-Staters.Vice President Joe Biden got 9 percent support in the test primary match-up. The other announced Democrats in the race, former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee and former Virginia Gov. Jim Webb, barely register at 1 percent or below.

Good. Hillary, like Jeb!, needs to go the fuck away.

by Anonymousreply 1August 12, 2015 11:42 AM

Polls [bold]15 months before[/bold] the Presidential election are meaningless.

by Anonymousreply 2August 12, 2015 11:51 AM

r2 you're not a troll at all! The political melodrama happening at the moment is ratings gold for the media and sales / clickbait gold for publications....but definitely not going to mean much at election time.

That's about the only relevance it has.

That being said, I admit to being curious and interested in the polling now as well - but seriously, it's entertainment at this point. Though, the trump saga is more like a horror film, realizing that 30% of repugs are have the equivalent brain power to The Walking Dead.

by Anonymousreply 3August 12, 2015 12:07 PM

Oh I love when I make grammar mistakes and typos while insulting the intelligence of others...

"30% of repugs are have "

"30% of repugs HAVE"

And also I mean they are just using their basic limbic system driven senses to follow their most gut instincts, i.e., "i'm angry and want someone to yell a lot about things! Mexicans! Megyn Kelly! Rosie O'Donnel! China!!" - and the walking dead just sniff out and hear humans and go for them, with about the equivalent amount of critical thinking.

by Anonymousreply 4August 12, 2015 12:10 PM

R3 I'd much rather have threads about naked gingers than these daily oh oh oh look! Hillary is ahead in the polls in Nevada total irrelevancies.

by Anonymousreply 5August 12, 2015 12:14 PM

If Bernie Sanders wins the nomination, our next pres will be a Republican.

by Anonymousreply 6August 12, 2015 1:34 PM

I agree, R5, I would rather have a hot, muscular GINGER in the White House, than either Hillary or JEB.

by Anonymousreply 7August 12, 2015 1:38 PM

R6 I normally never do this because I know it's not the done thing on DL, but like motherfucking DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 8August 12, 2015 1:39 PM

15 months and winning in NH is not certain at all and he won't win by winning one state.

by Anonymousreply 9August 12, 2015 1:46 PM

Maybe it's her hairstyle.

by Anonymousreply 10August 12, 2015 1:50 PM

Nate Silver says that Bernie can beat Hillary in New Hampshire and then no where else. He says that there is no way of his winning the nomination. Sorry, folks.

by Anonymousreply 11August 12, 2015 1:55 PM

R11, but, but but, he's drawing huge crowds! This is a movement! Look at all the white people at his events! THIS. IS. GONNA. HAPPEN.

by Anonymousreply 12August 12, 2015 2:04 PM

R11 brings sanity to the discussion, based on R5's truth.

by Anonymousreply 13August 12, 2015 2:25 PM

This is insanity. Of course Sanders could beat Hillary in New Hampshire- he's from Vermont.

by Anonymousreply 14August 12, 2015 2:28 PM

wow!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 15August 12, 2015 2:41 PM

Nate Silver isn't Nostradamus. He looks at stats. It's WAY too early to be making those sorts of statistical predictions.

I think Sanders can win the Presidency. I don't think Clinton can.

by Anonymousreply 16August 12, 2015 2:58 PM

Bernie lives in the Northeast. Of course he is going to be the strongest and most well known there. Northeasterners are Bernie's people. The fact that his part of the country happens to be the first primary states is a coincidence. It doesn't mean he will win the entire country.

Hillary's leading in Nevada because its demographics have changed to very slightly Democratic from very deeply Republican, due to Californians priced out of the housing market. The natives are Republicans. It's not true blue, it's a shallow demographic change.

Americans of both parties need to get past this idea that elections are about fan clubs voting for their favorite personality. This is why loons like Donald Trump or Ted Cruz are taken seriously by some.

The candidate that can appeal to the most voters is never going to be hard right or hard left. They have to convince the voters they are moderate, even if they aren't. Remember "compassionate conservativism"? That only lasted until Election Day. Only the stans don't care about moderacy. The rest of the country want it, just like they always have.

Bernie's more fitted to a cabinet appointment in charge of education or health or welfare reform. He's not well rounded enough to do the whole job, just part of it. And low information voters who think only domestic quality of life issues matter, are in for a rude awakening when the next 9/11 happens or some radicalized dictatorship starts acting up.

Who would you rather have when the 3am call comes in? Obama was the calmest voice in the room in 2008, in McCain vs. Obama. Now it's Hillary vs Any Republican Candidate. And that's the Republican's fault. It was theirs to lose.

by Anonymousreply 17August 12, 2015 2:59 PM

If Bernie Sanders wins the US Presidency, I'm going to rush to the window and look for a guy with wings blowing a shofar leading an old geezer on a white donkey. For truly, the Mashiach has come.

by Anonymousreply 18August 12, 2015 3:02 PM
I think Sanders can win the Presidency. I don't think Clinton can.

You're delusional.

by Anonymousreply 19August 12, 2015 3:32 PM

The NH primary is in less than six months, which is the point!

The poll is pretty much spot on (sorry, guy who hates it when Americans say that) - her support is an inch deep. Those folks will vote for him as a message to Hills: "You ain't OWED the job, Sweetie!"

by Anonymousreply 20August 12, 2015 3:37 PM

As bad as the Republican candidates are, the Democrats' shallow bench after 8 years occupying the WH is just as bad and IMO terribly underreported or discussed. Hillary has baggage and plenty of unenthusiastic support (which often translates to staying home Election Day) but I can't see a realistic scenario where a 75-year old self-proclaimed Socialist wins either. The fact that the DNC seems to have been waiting 8 years to coronate Clinton rather than grooming the next generation will, I think, ultimately hurt the party in '16.

by Anonymousreply 21August 12, 2015 3:55 PM

R21 arrives RIGHT ON TIME with his "The Dems are JUST AS BAD!" "no difference between the two parties" gibberish!

Well dear, eight years of GWB and Cheney, 9-11, two spectacularly failed wars, an economic collapse, and Alito & Roberts say otherwise, but good luck with the low-information non-voters like yourself!

by Anonymousreply 22August 12, 2015 4:02 PM

Socialist AND Atheist R21. The Republican spin machine is going to have a field day with him should he get the nomination. The BLM controversy will be a walk in the park.

R22 That's not what is being said at all. The democrats do need to start focusing some of their attention on younger, viable candidates. It's not exactly great when the three biggest names being touted for President are all over 65 years of age.

by Anonymousreply 23August 12, 2015 4:06 PM

NH often votes for mavericks and anti-establishment types. I expect both Sanders and Trump will win NH, but that doesn't mean they'll even win the nomination of their party, let alone the general election.

by Anonymousreply 24August 12, 2015 5:17 PM

First of all, R22, where did I say there's no difference between the parties? I said that the Democrats have not done a good job grooming potential candidates in the last 8 years, so we have one candidate that a not-small portion of the population doesn't like, and another that I don't think the country will be ready to elect next year. I will vote for whichever one is ultimately the candidate but the Democrats have a lot of work to do to replenish the bench.

by Anonymousreply 25August 12, 2015 5:36 PM

Democrats don't have a bench. Outside of the presidency, the Obama years were a disaster for the party. Democrats lost the Senate, the House, most Governorships and most State Legislatures. If I were a young, ambitious politician, I would be a Republican.

by Anonymousreply 26August 12, 2015 5:41 PM

R11 He ended up being kind of right about the Dem primary, but boy, the 2016 Republican primary was a disaster for poor Nate. The general election he did better than most, though still wrong. He has now totally re-tooled his forecast this year. He clearly didn't like being the butt of jokes the last 4 years.

by Anonymousreply 27August 22, 2020 10:30 PM

Fuck Bernie.

by Anonymousreply 28August 22, 2020 10:33 PM

And his followers.
