Well?
Do You Consider The Phrase "Cock Sucker" To Be A Homophobic Slur?
by Anonymous | reply 78 | December 21, 2020 12:48 AM |
depends. obviously it is in certain contexts.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 9, 2015 11:52 PM |
When dad calls me that while I've got my legs on his shoulders....No. Not a slur.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 9, 2015 11:54 PM |
[quote]depends. obviously it is in certain contexts.
That's what they say about "fag" and, "That's so gay."
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 9, 2015 11:56 PM |
I consider it a compliment.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 10, 2015 12:00 AM |
Just depends on who's saying it and the context and intent of it's usage. It's not a good thing from Alec Baldwin. He uses it as a hate term when he's pissed at a dude. He can apologize all he wants but that's what it is with him
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 10, 2015 12:02 AM |
Most of the time, no, I can't be bothered. Sometimes, maybe. . . . .
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 10, 2015 12:18 AM |
I definitely think it's homophobic when someone dismisses another person with 'go suck a dick'
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 10, 2015 12:37 AM |
I was surprised when Jodie Foster said on Inside the Actors Studio that it was her favourite curse word. Since we know she is a lesbian it seemed to be homophobic to gay men.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 10, 2015 1:08 AM |
No because women suck cock too.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 10, 2015 1:11 AM |
Depends on who says it . I tell the hubby all the time he's an amazing cock sucker and he loves it. Smiles and then takes the whole thing down his throat. It's a term of endearment.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 10, 2015 1:18 AM |
I consider it to be a badge of honour.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 10, 2015 1:31 AM |
Yes, because that language is such a personal affront!
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 10, 2015 1:37 AM |
Of COURSE it is?!- duh! The poster who pints out that women give head to I'd entirely missing the point.
How language evolves: for two immediate examples, say, curse words in Scandanavian languages entirely about religious symbolism principally tied in with Satan/Hell and Norse symbolism & bodily functions; curse language in France/ French traditionally tied in with blasphemy of Catholicism & bodily functions...
The English language tradition in curse words has always been primarily concerned with bodily functions, besmirching religion, casting shame on female sexuality and sanctity AND impugning supposed ideals of masculinity.
Hence "cocksucker" sits right beside "motherfucker" as some reflection on anyone's "Manhood". So, yeah, by language definition, I'd say at its core, there's rejection or slur upon M2M relations.
How often do you hear a woman ( as opposed to a general crowd or audience) called out this way?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 10, 2015 2:11 AM |
Any words are all about usage, intent, context and just who's saying them. You can call someone gorgeous and it can be an insult in certain situations. Queer also without exception use to be considered an insult for a guy. That term has since been co opted to me pride for many.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 10, 2015 2:16 AM |
Of course not! The brown word, however...
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 10, 2015 2:22 AM |
People who find "cocksucker and cunteater" not offensive are usually those who hate us mo's or mo's who hate themselves for being gay. Even using these terms jokingly, is derisive.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 10, 2015 4:24 AM |
Honey, it's just a job description.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 10, 2015 4:31 AM |
[quote]Hence "cocksucker" sits right beside "motherfucker" as some reflection on anyone's "Manhood".
Oh really? Hon, any male who fucks a female with children is a motherfucker. Same with cocksucker. Simply a realistic term for what is.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 10, 2015 4:35 AM |
You know the conservatives are not far off sometimes in their criticism that some folks have just gotten too sensitive.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 10, 2015 4:38 AM |
If a fellow DLer says it, then no. If Mike Huckabee says it, then yes. If Rick Santorum says it, then I'm not sure.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 10, 2015 9:32 AM |
When I say "cunt" I don't mean it in a woman-hating misogynistic way. I'm sure some people who say cocksucker are just using it as a general insult without going into the linguistics of it. If a bunch of straight bros call a little queen a "cocksucker" on the street...then duh yes it is. But otherwise, meh. Depends.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 10, 2015 9:53 AM |
Being called a cocksucker isn't personal; it's two nouns joined together to elicit a prescribed response.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | November 12, 2015 11:38 AM |
Yes, I consider it homophobic when Rick Santorum calls me a cocksucker. But then I just call him santorum, and we're even.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 12, 2015 11:51 AM |
As other posters pointed out it depends on the situation and its intention. When your best friend in the world tells it in a light teasing manner it doesn't hurt, but when he says it in a hurtful manner during a heated discussion then it fucking hurts. When a total stranger or your boss scream it in your face it's a very hurtful slur and attack.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | November 12, 2015 11:55 AM |
I like the way the name "Santorum" sounds like "Sanitarium." Truth in advertising, I suppose?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | November 12, 2015 12:16 PM |
If someone uses it to refer to me, I recognize it as the God's truth and take pride in the acknowledgement.
I am happy to offer tips to those attempting to wield an insult.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | November 12, 2015 12:53 PM |
Instead of the common English phrase 'what the fuck are you doing?' Italians say 'che cazzo fai?' - what the dick are you doing?
More than likely the above expression in Italian, like cocksucker in English, were originally meant as homo slurs. They're so ingrained in common usage now that they've lost their original intent.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | November 12, 2015 1:59 PM |
"Cocksucker" is simply an expletive. It's not homophobic. But if you've very touchy about homophobia, I guess one could interpret it as a slut. But it's not. It's just a dirty word. A good one, too.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | November 12, 2015 6:32 PM |
Make that "slur", not "slut." Anyway, I'm not offended by "cocksucker."
by Anonymous | reply 30 | November 12, 2015 6:33 PM |
[quote]No because women suck cock too.
Yeah, but not very well.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 12, 2015 7:25 PM |
I consider it a calling.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | November 12, 2015 7:25 PM |
This may be the funniest thread title in DL history, Bravo, OP!
by Anonymous | reply 33 | November 12, 2015 7:28 PM |
[quote]"cocksucker and cunteater"
I have never heard the latter phrase EVER.
Why must lesbians co-opt everything?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | November 12, 2015 7:30 PM |
If it's a slur, you're doing it wrong OP.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | November 12, 2015 8:06 PM |
I think tap dancin' negro is a compliment
by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 12, 2015 8:16 PM |
If you go by population numbers, this world has many times more straight women who suck cock than gay men period. So by that reckoning the term cocksucker is more sexist than homophobic, yes?
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 12, 2015 8:29 PM |
R37: except that it's an insult usually hurled at men. That's why some see it as homophobic: putting down a man for doing something associated with women. It's code for fag
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 12, 2015 9:12 PM |
I see we have some Rocket Scientists here.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | November 16, 2015 9:39 PM |
You Suck Cock On Hollywood Boulevard!!!
by Anonymous | reply 40 | November 16, 2015 9:40 PM |
Scientists - not Scientologists!
by Anonymous | reply 41 | November 16, 2015 9:42 PM |
R34 - "Carpet muncher" or "rug muncher" would be the lezzie equivalent, no?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | November 16, 2015 10:01 PM |
Ladies, you'd better keep your nether regions shaved, if you don't want your partner to be a "carpet muncher!"
by Anonymous | reply 44 | November 16, 2015 10:04 PM |
[quote]Honey, it's just a job description.
For some of us it's a passion.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | November 16, 2015 10:09 PM |
Suck my cock !! that's insulting.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | December 19, 2015 12:26 AM |
Yes.
It is intended as an insult. It means the user sees sucking cock as a BAD thing, which it isn't. It's also culturally equated with weakness and submission, but it's not necessarily.
And it's no more a submission that the men who want their cocks sucked.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | December 19, 2015 6:54 AM |
R47 nails it
by Anonymous | reply 48 | December 19, 2015 6:59 AM |
R47 Actually the sucker is the one in control, he can bite it off anytime if he wants to.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | December 19, 2015 7:03 AM |
I use all the classic (dumbass) porno patter and faggot slurs in English I know, when I fuck around with guys who don't speak english, and it really really really really turns them on.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | December 19, 2015 10:23 AM |
I consider it 100% true
by Anonymous | reply 52 | December 19, 2015 11:11 AM |
Wrong, r49.
The vast majority of people who say "cocksucker" are not praising the act. They are denigrating it as a negative and shameful thing and they expect everyone else to see it that way.
It is also intended to mean that the subject is underhanded and cowardly — because heterosexuals equate homosexual men with that.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | December 19, 2015 8:33 PM |
FWIW, when I find something miserable or lame, I often say "it sucks," just like everybody else.
Because straight guys find the thought of sucking dick to be miserable and those who suck dick to be pathetic and weak.
But I don't think that sucking sucks! I'm happy to do it and happy to get it ;)
by Anonymous | reply 54 | December 19, 2015 8:38 PM |
Let's read what the heterosexuals think it means, shall we?
[quote]General all-purpose all-american insult used to describe anyone except the person who actually sucks your cock.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | December 19, 2015 8:54 PM |
Pussy licker is a compliment then ?
by Anonymous | reply 56 | December 19, 2015 9:08 PM |
R2 aren’t you a little old for piggyback rides?
by Anonymous | reply 57 | June 5, 2020 2:05 PM |
For me it's descriptive!
by Anonymous | reply 58 | June 5, 2020 2:07 PM |
Oh let’s just all argue and fight amongst ourselves over this for at least 348 posts.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | June 5, 2020 2:10 PM |
r59 Won't the thread get paywalled long before that?
by Anonymous | reply 60 | June 5, 2020 2:20 PM |
Depends on the situation - to be called one in public no, but if I'm polishing a knob I like being called a good cock sucker.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | June 5, 2020 3:11 PM |
It is a slur coming from most people, yes.
Gays ourselves can use it without pejorative connotation and that's okay. But we can also use it as a slur and should have every right to.
Don't let anybody call you a cocksucker unless they're giving you cock.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | June 5, 2020 3:59 PM |
"Yes I am. Are you too? You have cocksucking lips" Or "you should try it you'd like it. Wanna suck mine? "
by Anonymous | reply 63 | June 5, 2020 3:59 PM |
None of your business, OP, you muffdiver.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | June 5, 2020 4:04 PM |
Yes.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | June 5, 2020 4:10 PM |
“Do You Consider The Phrase "Cock Sucker" To Be A Homophobic Slur?”
Not if he says “Swallow” before “Cock Sucker”.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | June 5, 2020 4:14 PM |
I view "Cock Sucker" as a honorific.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | June 5, 2020 4:30 PM |
OK, but what about COCKGOBBLER?
by Anonymous | reply 68 | June 5, 2020 5:31 PM |
It is a synonym for faggot.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | June 5, 2020 5:52 PM |
Another 2015 thread bumped? What's up with that particular year?
by Anonymous | reply 70 | June 5, 2020 5:57 PM |
As a cocksucker, on my most recent annual review my boss gave me "Exceeds Expectations" as my rating.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | June 5, 2020 6:05 PM |
Santorum and family lived across the street from me when he was an up and coming congressman. His wife, when single, lived with my doctor. Just some trivia in the "who knew?" category. His Pennsylvania property was in the same borough that my parents lived. I never liked him.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | June 5, 2020 6:09 PM |
r72 That's not really tea? That's not even lemonade :(
by Anonymous | reply 73 | December 19, 2020 6:51 PM |
It honestly doesn’t bother me. I guess because I think it’s something I’m proud of.😄
by Anonymous | reply 74 | December 19, 2020 6:56 PM |
YES it's a homophobic slur.
It's only used towards men and the implication is men who suck cocks are less than and degenerate and terrible people - that's the insult And what kind of men suck cocks? Gay men.
I get that lots of gay guys aren't bothered by it because it's so old and common but it but it is literally an insult about gayness. And all this "depends on how it's used and by who" crap -- Yeah, no shit. That's how every insult is. Your pal insulting you as a joke is okay, we know this... It's always been okay, that's not some new info you're revealing to everyone just now, genius.
Cocksucker as a slur = homophobic. Always has been, always will be.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | December 19, 2020 11:37 PM |
