Maybe there's a touch of southern, given her years in Arkansas. And living in New York has had some influence. But really, she basically sounds mid-western where she grew-up. While she tries to relate to African-American church audiences with a dialect that sounds too fake, I recall one black minister saying he 'appreciated she tried'. So give her a "B-" on this at least for effort.
Obama pulls it off very, very well without missing a beat. That's not his normal speech pattern except when he's before black audiences. And he's got the ethnic credentials not to be questioned by it, and it sounds right.
