Chuck Holmes from Falcon ......... none of these other bitches have a documentary ("Seed Money") out about their philanthropic efforts and donations to politicians who took the money and looked the other way about where it came from. And he was involved in the initial start up of HRC (regardless of what it has become) and a lot of AIDS charities.

Alex deRenzy. If it wasn't for him, there would be no mainstream, socially accepted, legal to view porn. Gay or straight.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 3, 2015 3:10 AM |
Al Parker
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 3, 2015 5:01 AM |
That's a trick question! Most people wouldn't know a producer from a director, and the models come and go so fast, they really don't qualify. The most influential individual in gay porn is a straight mob man, and without Stan Loeb, there wouldn't be a Chuck Holmes or a gay porn business, for that matter.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 3, 2015 6:57 AM |
Jeff Stryker, now he's not my favorite, but he was a household name for sure. My parents knew who he was, as well as most of my straight extended family.

Vote to Tom of Finland, but if look far back to the history, we should watch Sparta and Rome.

My vote goes to Hymie Rosenberg. He invented balloon farting and parallel parking while on spring break from medical school.

Stryker had fame that no other one ever did so he gets the Lifetime Achievement Award. Surprised John Waters never jumped on him for a legit role.
William Higgins, Ryan Idol capture the '80s. But who was the first? Back in the day when they could get busted?

Sean Storm has been around forever and had a bit part in The Hurt Locker, as well as one of the Matrix movies.

I think that this question would be better posed as "who are the top 10 most influential men in the history of gay porn?". That would be easier to answer. You have directors, talent and multiple decades to contend with.

The three top stars of early gay porn are Casey Donovan, Al Parker and Jack Wrangler. But to me the most important figure in ALL gay porn is Athletic Model Guild creator Bob Mizer. Almost everything about gay porn springs from that.

The honor should probably be split among several people, and restricted to areas directly related to adult entertainment (so not lawyers and judges who decriminalized pornography)
Chuck Holmes and Jim French: for starting Falcon and Colt respectively Tom of Finland: for introducing the leather aesthetic George Duroy: for making A&F model fantasies come to life with Bel Ami The founder of Badpuppy, one of the first explicit gay commercial website in the mid-90s. Paul Morris: for making barebacking porn its own niche
