Who knew this epic flame war still existed?
Who know what other gems are hidden in the bowels of the DL?

You can somehow dig this thread up, but Frosting Can Dad is gone forever. :(
How'd you find it?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 2, 2015 8:38 PM |
So, apparently is the one from earlier this year about the batshit insane women who claimed to have been behind most of the last 40 years of popular culture.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 2, 2015 8:51 PM |
Attention newbies: the linked thread is REQUIRED READING.
Get to it!
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 2, 2015 8:55 PM |
How did you find these!?! I wish someone would find the original "What's your favorite Helen Lawson show?".
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 2, 2015 10:19 PM |
Amazed that you found these!
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 2, 2015 10:40 PM |
What about the turkey meatballs thread? I thought these were all gone for good!
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 2, 2015 11:01 PM |
The first meltdown in the early 2000s made way for the sows. Notice the thread ended with the Second Meltdown...
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 2, 2015 11:04 PM |
OP thank you for posting these classic threads! I was wondering about one in particular. Years ago there was a parody thread where DL posters took on the personas of disgruntled co-workers sniping at each other in back-and-forth office emails and it was one of the funniest damn things I've ever read. I wonder if it's still around anywhere, I wished I'd saved it.

If gluttony disgusts you avoid Russians on vacation at all costs. Actually, avoiding Russians everywhere makes for a happier life.

Having this new version of DL would be worth it if we could access the archive for old threads like these. I know that I'd love to read the old gossip threads.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 5, 2015 2:33 AM |
170k archive threads consisting of 3.7 million posts were recently imported (2008-2011) It will take google a couple weeks to index it all.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 5, 2015 2:43 AM |
Good news, r20. This will make Datalounge like every other forum I've ever visited online, ever, in my whole life.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 5, 2015 2:57 AM |
GodDAMN you all! I remember the dog-baby one because it was one of the most shocking (and funny) thread titles on DL. And I managed to get up to about 60 responses, just giggling, until I came to "Cesar Millan":
[quote]No, ju must take control! Ju can't let the dog just decides when he gonna fuck the baby! Ju got to be the pack leader and give him PERMISSION! Ju make him sit...and siiiittt...and siiiiitttt. That's a good boy. All right! NOW you can fuck the baby!
THAT'S the Datalounge I remember -- shocking, sick, creative, and very very funny.

Is the frosting dad thread new enough, or bumped into being new enough, that it will be included? What about African Baby Catalog? Red Dragon Cheese? Once Around the Garden?

The crab walk and the guy who thought his landlord was spying on him were good. Also, possums in the drawer.

Two threads I liked: the Mount Everest and the rapist/murderer in California who has never been caught. There was s letter he wrote in 6th grade, his voice has been recorded and he could tie knots well. I liked that posters were trying to solve it.

I will never forget the epic flame war that was "Remove your shoes when you enter my house" or whatever.
Holy crap.
I never knew people could feel so passionate about the topic of removing your shoes... on BOTH sides!
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 10, 2015 10:20 PM |
Some of the Sows thread wasn't as funny as people claimed it was, but the followup reports on holiday foods being brought into the offices were pretty good. The poor guy reporting that, by morning, "an entire box of Ritz Crackers has already vanished" had me in tears.

OMG, I am reading down these threads and am amazed to recognize my own resurrected posts.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 22, 2015 10:34 AM |
Me too, R31 - I laughed at a story then remembered it was mine (the co-worker eating a big hunk of cheese).

"Sows at the Trough." Documentary starring a Hefty Mama and her five kids receiving every public benefit created. Daddies nowhere to be found.

I miss the original Golden Girls Inconsistencies thread.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 22, 2015 2:36 PM |
Damn--I used to have a link to the "Once Around the Garden" thread (which was actually called something like "My partner has made me the enforcer of his restaurant's salad bar policy"), but I just tried it and it was dead. But I did find "'Who Gives A Flying Fuck?' is on TCM right now!"
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 22, 2015 3:38 PM |
Oh--found it! For your pleasure, Once Around the Garden.

OMG - I just read the first 100 replies of Dog Fucks Baby In The Ass! and had to stop.
My co-workers are starting to ask, "What's so funny?"

What about the one where the guy took a video of himself masturbating and accidentally sent it to all his contacts?
Or famous Jon Benets in history?

R44 thank you! I’ve spent the whole evening reading Sows at the Trough (which needs a revival or a new thread of same) and I’m DYING. This topic is eternally relevant.
I’ve done my best to google classic threads and bookmark them since the archives are awol but what I can NOT find are the very original MichFest threads. I have about 15 related threads saved but the very first few? Can’t find them anywhere!
by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 19, 2019 3:07 AM |
R44, we can't do another thread on that topic because the gays only work at places where carbs are forbidden. Vendors don't bring them anymore. A thread on avocado toast and/or kale would be boring. Face it, the modern workplace is nothing to create an epic thread about.

Can anyone find the Jani Lane thread? It was jaw-droppingly funny. My personal fave.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | July 8, 2019 3:08 AM |
brilliant thread, am having happy flashbacks to DL glory days. OP's thread dates back to mid-2006 and the earliest tiemframe of the old archived posts. Did the new upgrade bring in anything from pre-2006 that we can search and view? Agree that would be worth its weight in gold.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | July 8, 2019 3:30 AM |
r49 Nope. I asked Muriel if she'd ever resurrect any more old threads during her brief Q&A and she said there was no point because, "There are so few cuneiform readers out there these days."
by Anonymous | reply 50 | July 8, 2019 3:37 AM |
Sadly the Jani Lane thread was deleted after his death
