I miss wire-rimmed glasses.

As a once glasses fetishist, I really miss seeing wire-rimmed glasses, everywhere. I took them for granted all those years. Then, came the rims-free glasses. Then came the thick-framed "Statement glasses". Now I'm afraid wire-rimmed glasses will never find their way home, again.

Please console me by posting your favorite images of wire-rimmed glasses; ads, stars, random photos, etc.

Thank you, in advance, for you thoughtful contribution.

I assume a return to wire-rimmed glasses will be the next big eyewear fashion. Doesn't fashion go to extremes? Once everyone has bought plastic ones, they will declare wire as the must-have.

R2 I think so, too but they might also just go thicker and more absurd.

by Anonymousreply 4July 28, 2015 11:01 PM

I like them both. Plastic ones don't break as easily.

R5 You're right. Maybe I'm just craving a particular look and don't realize it.

by Anonymousreply 6July 28, 2015 11:06 PM

I never left them.

by Anonymousreply 9July 28, 2015 11:08 PM

I just got new glasses last month. They are wire rimmed. There were a ton of them to choose from. Only problem was that none were in the shape I wanted (oval) so I had to settle for rectangular.

by Anonymousreply 10July 28, 2015 11:08 PM

I was thinking about ordering these. Are you just talking about the round ones? The wider ones are all over.

R6, maybe you are craving the pre-Kardashian world.

by Anonymousreply 13July 28, 2015 11:09 PM

R11 I haven't seen the round ones, in a while. I think they'd feel fresh, now.

by Anonymousreply 14July 28, 2015 11:09 PM

The rounded 90's type at R3 already back. It will just a while for them to filter down.

I think they're more flattering than plastic to facial features...maybe not the huge round ones - but a balanced size. The big chunky rimmed / plastic glasses make people look odd IMO...but they're so popular. It's weird.

Mine look like r15 's link, only in silver (to match my full head of prematurely gray hair that I keep short.)

Have a short silver beard most of the time too.

They've always been around. I like the rounded ones...like back in the 60s. Hippie dippy... They don't look good on me, though. We used to call them "granny glasses". The wire and tortoise combo styles are nice, too.
