Rock Hudson screen test from 1949

He was 24 years old and SO HOT

Never liked him, always seemed very '50s plastic and fake...and in his later years bloated from alcohol. The 70s had a lot of double-chinned, scotch and steak puffed-up leading men (Lee Majors, James Garner) and he was one of them.

Damn, r1: You are naming off my all-time jerk-off fantasies.

We have very different tastes in TV men.

Hudson was never a great actor, but he was a walking definition of hunk.

by Anonymousreply 3July 27, 2015 2:12 AM

R1 has weird taste

by Anonymousreply 4July 27, 2015 6:56 PM

James Garner was handsome and had a certain kind of charm

Men were better looking back then, IMO. They were much better dress and seemed more charming and macho. Plus, no gross tatts.

by Anonymousreply 6June 5, 2020 11:47 PM

That's an old looking 24. Why did people look so much older back then?

by Anonymousreply 7June 5, 2020 11:48 PM

His body language gives him away. He backs-up instead of leaning-in.

by Anonymousreply 8June 5, 2020 11:50 PM

Sexy as fuck. But thats a rough 24. He looks 36. I'm guessing white people didn't use sunblock back then.

by Anonymousreply 9June 5, 2020 11:51 PM

Rock was a truck driver who probably didn’t get any beauty sleep.

by Anonymousreply 10June 6, 2020 12:03 AM

He looks like fat Elvis

by Anonymousreply 11June 6, 2020 12:24 AM

He was gorgeous! Those lips! That wavy hair! Those broad shoulders!

Everyone looked older back then. The actress in the screen test was only 21 at the time and she looked like she was about 30. I think it had a lot to do with how they were coiffed and made up and the more "classic" acting style they were all trained in that made them look and sound more mature.

by Anonymousreply 12June 6, 2020 1:04 AM

Nope.

by Anonymousreply 13June 6, 2020 1:05 AM

Did he lie about his age? He looks five years older.

by Anonymousreply 14June 6, 2020 2:52 AM

I've always loved Rock and his looks.

by Anonymousreply 15June 6, 2020 2:58 AM

He always seemed a little Blank Frank to me.

by Anonymousreply 16June 6, 2020 3:03 AM

He is immensely faceable in that clip

by Anonymousreply 17June 6, 2020 11:25 PM

FUCKABLE. Goddam autocorrect

by Anonymousreply 18June 6, 2020 11:25 PM

Weak chin and quite femme.

by Anonymousreply 19June 6, 2020 11:28 PM

XD r17/r17.

by Anonymousreply 20June 6, 2020 11:28 PM

What 24-year-old has eye bags like that?

by Anonymousreply 21June 6, 2020 11:29 PM

"The 70s had a lot of double-chinned, scotch and steak puffed-up leading men (Lee Majors, James Garner) and he was one of them"

You're nuts. Garner was distinguished-looking up through the 1980s. And Majors had a hunky $6 million dollar body/face.

Weak chin? Um, no.

by Anonymousreply 23June 6, 2020 11:43 PM

My ma was a BIG Rock Hudson fan! She had all his movies and was very depressed when he died. It really pissed-off my dad! He would say - "you're sad about a pouf actor when you have me here to love and take care of all of youse". Turns out his son is a pouf too. Memories..

by Anonymousreply 24June 6, 2020 11:48 PM

A life long closet case. And I never heard anywhere that he was a particularly likeable human being, although Doris Day liked him. I remember that tv show he was on (Dynasty?); he had AIDS by then and was if course keeping it a secret. He had a love scene with Linda Evan; for some reason he thought it would be fun to give her a tongue kiss. He later said "I gave her a big wet one!" And he knew he had AIDS. What an asshole.

by Anonymousreply 25June 6, 2020 11:55 PM

r25 you do know AIDS isn't spread by saliva don't you?

by Anonymousreply 26June 7, 2020 12:01 AM

You're a poof, R24.

This is a pouf:

They didn't know it at the time, and that's not what happened, anyway.

So are there any threads from 2015 that haven't been bumped yet? I would hate to miss any.

by Anonymousreply 29June 7, 2020 12:17 AM

"You do know AIDS isn't spread by saliva don't you?" ' I know that what he didn't wasn't exactly nice.

by Anonymousreply 30June 7, 2020 12:22 AM

R27: True! But they spelled it "pouf" (along with "youse") when I was a kid in South Philly.

by Anonymousreply 31June 7, 2020 12:31 AM

R25, a lot of his costars liked him, not just Doris. Even right-wing John Wayne got along with him.

by Anonymousreply 32June 7, 2020 12:50 AM

Everyone wanted a piece of his big thick 8" of uncut man meat!

by Anonymousreply 33June 7, 2020 12:53 AM

R33 That would have been right up my alley. RIP.
