2015 Espy Awards

Is anybody watching?

by Anonymousreply 72September 25, 2020 10:37 PM

What?

by Anonymousreply 1July 16, 2015 12:44 AM

Ms. Jenner is going to be on. WHAT'S SHE GONNA WEAR!?!?

by Anonymousreply 2July 16, 2015 12:46 AM
Is anybody watching?

Not with The Kardashians being on, no thank you

by Anonymousreply 3July 16, 2015 12:47 AM

I'm not watching it, so would someone tell us when Jenner will be on?

by Anonymousreply 4July 16, 2015 12:50 AM

Love Ronda Rousey's comment about Floyd Mayweather

by Anonymousreply 5July 16, 2015 12:53 AM

Not sure what time Caitlyn will be on, so far this is tedious to watch, the Espy's have definitely changed. Even last night's coverage of the All-Star game was better than this.

From today's LA Times:
Is Caitlyn Jenner the wrong honoree for ESPYs' courage award?

Excerpt:
Casting a further shadow on the pick is industry speculation about an alleged deal between the network and Jenner for the Ashe award as a payoff for the exclusive sit-down interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer that aired in April and drew huge ratings.

They just broke for a commercial and before they did, they teased to her award so it may be within the next half hour.

by Anonymousreply 7July 16, 2015 1:20 AM

R6, let's be honest, it's all about ratings and they knew that people who wouldn't normally tune in will be tuning in for this one. The award wasn't about who deserved it, it was about getting attention.

by Anonymousreply 8July 16, 2015 1:27 AM

Affleck doesn't look great, but he looks better than he has been lately.

by Anonymousreply 9July 16, 2015 2:07 AM

Ever since the Body Issue poctures came out, Seguin is really starting to grow on me.

by Anonymousreply 11July 16, 2015 2:11 AM

Caitlyn is up next

by Anonymousreply 12July 16, 2015 2:11 AM

Really milking this to the end.

Who's Aaron's handsome date?

by Anonymousreply 13July 16, 2015 2:11 AM

Can't tell. Whenever they cut to him, there isn't a clear shot of who is sitting next to him.

by Anonymousreply 14July 16, 2015 2:14 AM

Jenner really was gorgeous.

by Anonymousreply 15July 16, 2015 2:21 AM

They're showing Bruce Jenner clips.

I missed the part when a drunk Favre gave Rodgers his award.
Brett Favre gave Aaron Rodgers the ESPY for ‘best NFL player’ and things got awkward.

How ironic TORMENTOR Jon Hamm is the narrator of his story.

Anyway, Derek Jeter still looks very hot.

by Anonymousreply 17July 16, 2015 2:24 AM

Sounds like Jon Hamm is narrating this

by Anonymousreply 18July 16, 2015 2:26 AM

Sorry, R17. Just realized you beat me to it.

by Anonymousreply 19July 16, 2015 2:27 AM

I wonder what the big dumb jocks in the audience are thinking as they watch this. You know they never change. They'll crack jokes together afterward.

by Anonymousreply 20July 16, 2015 2:29 AM

This is seriously lame!!

by Anonymousreply 21July 16, 2015 2:30 AM

You know people are thinking this is fucked up. Chick on stage wearing a suit and a guy in a dress.

by Anonymousreply 22July 16, 2015 2:32 AM

Standing ovation???!!!?!!

by Anonymousreply 23July 16, 2015 2:32 AM

Brett Favre's face was priceless.

by Anonymousreply 24July 16, 2015 2:33 AM

Dude in a dress.

by Anonymousreply 25July 16, 2015 2:33 AM

How many tweets will be "crying for America" because of this moment?

by Anonymousreply 26July 16, 2015 2:34 AM

LOL, R24. You saw that, too?

by Anonymousreply 27July 16, 2015 2:35 AM

Their definition of womanhood is bananas - it's what feminists have been fighting for decades.

by Anonymousreply 28July 16, 2015 2:37 AM

The first thing out of her mouth was abour hair, makeup and shoes.

by Anonymousreply 29July 16, 2015 2:39 AM

OMFG r10 that is a disaster. It looks like the jacket is off the rack, and the pants are way too fitted, he has bow legs in that pic. And the one button? No.

I wonder if he took Freddy, his "room-mate"?

by Anonymousreply 30July 16, 2015 2:40 AM

She didn't say thank you for the award, he said "thank you so much for this [italic]platform[/italic]"

by Anonymousreply 31July 16, 2015 2:44 AM

Wow, what a politician she would make- that was a seriously great speech.

by Anonymousreply 32July 16, 2015 2:44 AM

I wonder how many overtime hours were put in by handlers, publicists and ESPN PR to make sure all the lunkhead athletes were able to comment on her without a shitstorm?

by Anonymousreply 33July 16, 2015 2:47 AM

I was watching and that vet who lost her arm made me cry. I recorded the rest, will watch it later.

I can't believe that A-rod bit. Too long and really not right, esp that small penis comment.

by Anonymousreply 34July 16, 2015 2:53 AM

I only watched Jenner. Could not care less about a bunch of meatheads lauding each other.

by Anonymousreply 35July 16, 2015 2:54 AM

My hat is off to Caitlyn. That was a thoughtful and inspiring speech. I admit to tearing up.

by Anonymousreply 36July 16, 2015 2:55 AM

And I'm sure it went over the heads of most of those drooling idiots.

by Anonymousreply 37July 16, 2015 2:57 AM

Vince Vaughn looks semi human.

by Anonymousreply 38July 16, 2015 2:57 AM

Why would Aspys get awards?

by Anonymousreply 39July 16, 2015 3:10 AM

Yes, R31, the platform to speak for thousands of others. And immediately after she said, "Thank you for this honor." But you were too busy clutching your pearls and typing with one hand to hear it.

by Anonymousreply 40July 16, 2015 3:20 AM

What a freakazoid. All trans people should be ashamed to be associated with that mess. Pure publicity stunt--what else would you expect from a Kartrashian?

by Anonymousreply 41July 16, 2015 3:21 AM

Is anyone else over children with cancer and their famewhore parents? Enough!

by Anonymousreply 42July 16, 2015 3:26 AM

Shut up, R41. You sound bitter. Sorry you never had any attention.

by Anonymousreply 43July 16, 2015 3:49 AM

It's odd to hear Bruce Jenner's voice still...basically entirely unchanged like a grumpy 65 year old man, in a versace silhouette.

by Anonymousreply 44July 16, 2015 4:00 AM

I haven't read through all the comments so I don't know if anyone has already mentioned this, but the word is out that this "award" is a complete fraud. The ESPY committee didn't "give" her anything. Jenner and her people demanded this award in order for the Diane Sawyer interview.

by Anonymousreply 45July 16, 2015 4:08 AM

Forget Caitlyn. Are there any pictures of Aaron with the new boyfriend?

by Anonymousreply 46July 16, 2015 4:08 AM

Are you a sports fan, R40? I have nothing against Jenner, the Arthur Ashe Award is not about having a platform for your cause. Lauren Hill & Devon Still embody the spirit of the award. Even Noah Galloway would have been more appropriate.

by Anonymousreply 47July 16, 2015 4:10 AM

She looked flawless and age appropriate. The dress was a fabulous fit. She looked like a goddess. She just needs to soften her voice but the content of her speech was great. I like how she embraces her past, present and future.

by Anonymousreply 48July 16, 2015 4:10 AM

I've been looking but haven't been able to find any, R46, I want to know who he is too.

by Anonymousreply 49July 16, 2015 4:15 AM

Is Aaron still "dating" Olivia Munn? I noticed that Olivia Munn was sitting next to Common.

by Anonymousreply 50July 16, 2015 4:21 AM

Good eye, R50, I didn't even notice her there. They were at Comic Con together over the weekend, so I guess, yes.

by Anonymousreply 54July 16, 2015 4:27 AM

Thanks R52/53/54, I have no idea who that is, but I love how Jeter, Rodgers & the mystery man all look like they're wearing the same thing.

by Anonymousreply 55July 16, 2015 4:35 AM

Jeter is sitting next to his girlfriend, Hannah. So why couldn't Aaron choose who he sat with?

by Anonymousreply 56July 16, 2015 4:40 AM
My hat is off to Caitlyn. That was a thoughtful and inspiring speech. I admit to tearing up.

Nobody wears a hat today.

by Anonymousreply 57July 16, 2015 4:41 AM

How many times did they show a shot of the Kardashians in the audience, because what else in the world matters? Caitlin must have gone to Liza's dentist. I haven't hear that many ssss's since Liza tried to sing "Le Hot Jasssshhhhhhh" in "Victor/Victoria"

by Anonymousreply 58July 16, 2015 4:44 AM

But she looked beautiful. Streisand and the rest could use her stylist.

by Anonymousreply 59July 16, 2015 5:37 AM

She did look good, unlike some others.

Danica Patrick in a mullet skirt and what seems to be a bandolier under her dress. Maybe she's doing side work with Kurt Busch's ex?

ESPN "writer" Sarah Spain ... if you're going to buy enormous teats, at least learn how to upholster them tastefully.

by Anonymousreply 61July 16, 2015 12:19 PM

I don't know who Cari Champion is but she looked good.

by Anonymousreply 62July 16, 2015 12:22 PM

I thought Ronda Rousey on Mayweather was very funny (and ballsy on a night that was probably full of meaningless cliches) but what is up with that dress?

by Anonymousreply 63July 16, 2015 12:27 PM

So someone who beats people up for a living gets Best Athlete. OK then.

by Anonymousreply 64July 16, 2015 12:30 PM

r45 that award has always been a fraud because the entire ESPY concept is fraudulent. It's just a PR move to heighten visibility and line vanity cases of athletes and their agents.

They gave it to the 9/11 widows, FFS. Seriously. The reasoning at the time was their husbands were athletic. IIRC, old DL fave Lisa Beemer made an appearance to accept it.

by Anonymousreply 65July 16, 2015 1:52 PM

More self-congratulatory nonsense.

by Anonymousreply 66July 16, 2015 1:57 PM

I guess Caitlyn won Drag Race.

by Anonymousreply 67July 16, 2015 2:08 PM

Russell Wilson is BOSS

by Anonymousreply 68July 16, 2015 2:33 PM

I wonder if they lost money again this year?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 69July 19, 2015 2:34 PM

I watched it and it seemed incredibly pointless. There was an award for "Best Moment".

Oh my.

by Anonymousreply 70July 19, 2015 2:47 PM
Caitlin must have gone to Liza's dentist. I haven't hear that many ssss's since Liza tried to sing "Le Hot Jasssshhhhhhh" in "Victor/Victoria"

That's a vocal affectation he started once he became a media person. I think it's his version of a radio DJ voice. Sadly, he's always sounded ridiculous

by Anonymousreply 71July 21, 2015 3:18 AM

R16 Lol, what a trainwreck.
