The men are either secret perverts or closeted homosexuals, all the while protesting against and "praying for" those who choose a lifestyle they think is gross, but secretly covet.

It is interesting that he told his parents about what he had done though. How many pervs actually admit it? Problem is that his parents didn't do anything to help (don't know how effective help actually is) him or council him because of their religiosity. Is he fucked up? Yes. But the parents are to blame for not handling the situation in a rational manner that might truly lead to solving his problems.
