What gives??!

Why not? If someone wants kids and can afford them by all means have some.

Most people want to have kids. It's really not that surprising.

Actor Tuc Watkins decided to have twins at 47 and is raising them alone. Go figure.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 4, 2015 3:04 AM |
Some people get hit with "the need to breed" later in life.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 4, 2015 3:27 AM |
The worst part is that we can't use "breeders" as a het insult anymore.

Gurrrl you must be dating brothers too. Black men always have some damn kids, even the gay ones have a love child or two.

It's a fad in the gay community, sort of like wearing your jeans rolled up.
Wait until they find out how hard it is to raise kids!
A friend who now raises a kid actually told me (with sadness), "I just don't have time to get fisted any more...."

Social engineering, the irrational belief that one must be just like everyone else without a thought as to whether being just like everyone else is really all that necessary or worthwhile.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 4, 2015 4:01 AM |
R7 -Don't have kids.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 4, 2015 4:05 AM |
Much more sensible to be the funny gay uncle, or the cool lesbian auntie.
Let the siblings have the children. It is never ending worry, and joy, to be a parent, and I'm not so sure that gays and lesbians can get past the cat and dog stage.

It's programming. The trans programming is more harmful, though.

I hate kids, but I imagine some of them feel like it's something that would have been denied to them in the past, so it holds some special allure. Kind of a "rite of passage" like buying porn at 18 (in the pre-internet era), or getting drunk for the first time. Only you're stuck with a kid for 18 years or more. Plenty of heteros don't figure that part out until it's too late, too, of course.
It also seems like a lot of people want a kid as a sort of "do-over" if they had a rotten childhood or abusive parents. I kind of get it, but I'd rather just spoil myself, and perhaps a lover and/or a pet.

Gays have kids the same reason straights do: to keep being busy for at least 18 more years and have someone take care of them in old age
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 4, 2015 4:40 AM |
Gay people/homosexuals have always had kids it's just that now they get to have kids with their same sex partners.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 4, 2015 4:44 AM |
It's gross
by Anonymous | reply 15 | July 4, 2015 4:58 AM |
What happens when some of the kids turn into bratty mean teens and start saying homophobic slurs to these parents? You know that's got to be happening now.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 4, 2015 5:05 AM |
God, you guys! I have one and believe me that is enough and he's grown into a beautiful person.
I have the pleasure of helping with two others, it's so gratifying. I'd need the cash to do private schools and really care for them well at this point. I couldn't handle doing parenting without tool$.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 4, 2015 5:45 AM |
Have you never met teenagers, R16? They will say whatever hurts the most to their parents. Homophobic slurs are just a bonus if they're appropriate.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 4, 2015 5:00 PM |
Teenagers are a pain in the ass. They are also very cool.

Everyone is doing it! Gaybies are the new French bulldog!
Troy and Randy just got one.... totes ADORBS!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 4, 2015 6:59 PM |
I'm kind of with OP on this one.
Didn't being gay mean that, in large part, you got to SET the trends? You know, as opposed to following the herd?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 4, 2015 7:06 PM |
[quot]You know, as opposed to following the herd?
It's partly following trends and partly biology, which is hard to ignore.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 4, 2015 7:24 PM |
R23 we’ve lost that completely. Now the trans make the trends.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 31, 2020 1:58 PM |
R25 - That post from R23 is 5 years old. This is the DL. She's long dead. RIP
