Mr Hollywood's threads were full of cool Hollywood gossip... I wonder if he is still around...
by Anonymous | reply 7 | June 28, 2015 11:43 AM |
The posts from the guy telling us what happened when Jani Lane woke up were some of the funniest things I've ever read online.
Other gems: Raingirl on the plane, the threads where DLers read the trans to shreds and the homophobic SIL's wedding thread
My fave thread ever though was from the infamous Boston-Philly couple, one of them asked us for advice on his to bill the other for his services as a boyfriend over the years.

The thread about the cyberbeggar Instagram models who set up a GoFundMe page so they could have wedding ceremonies in 4 different countries. The American one was named Eric and his fiance was from South Africa. I wonder if those douchebags are still together.

There was a great one on Cesar Romero where a troll posted a hilarious post production pretending to be Esther Williams, claiming to dive into Romero's pool and it being full of feces because he was into scat. The post was ludicrous but hilarious, but what was even funnier is that there was a response saying that Williams was a known liar. The poor guy thought it was serious. That was one of the first threads I read here, and it made me stick around. This forum is a hoot!

Apparently you weren't around here when a pasta thread went on forever - and earrings and caftans were flying - in which posters argued, among other things, whether the sauce should be mixed into the pasta or ladled on time. (Also argued in that thread: what IS pasta sauce, what's the difference between pasta and macaroni, and what's the difference between noodles and pasta)

One of the threads that I read when I first started coming here was about an altercation between two family member at a holiday event that got somewhat physical and, ended with a pan of peach cobbler flying across the room.
The Original loosing my virginity at a bed and breakfast thread.
A poster who I'm sure was really a gay man started a thread pretending to be some bored demented housewife who hated her kids. She was posting while looking out the window watching her neighbors shirtless teenage son mow the lawn. She kept commenting on his body and making vulgar remarks about what she wanted to do to him. Then she started talking about how she wanted to use her vibrator and get off before her stupid ugly kids got home from school. It was hilarious.
The original TREAD CLOSED thread. The op of a thread got pissed that the thread wasn't going the way she wanted so she had a meltdown and kept typing TREAD CLOSED in a futile attempt to close the thread. Of course her doing this only encouraged people to keep posting even more and to mock her attempts to shut down the thread mercilessly.

I was the one who clubbed the "Fank You!" girl story and brought it back to DL for delectation, so thank you. Or thank the frau in my office who saw fit to broadcast the story far and wide.
Then there's "Famous JonBenets in History... And Their Accomplishments," which brought forth, among many, many others, JonBenet ValjonBenet.

The Whatever Happened to Cristy from Intervention thread had good posts. One in particular was from the sister who threatened litigation if anyone tried to make money off Cristy.
I remember thinking the only way you could make money off her was to pimp her out.

The Lisa Beamer "Let's Roll Cinnamon Rolls" thread had a lot of input from clever people. I have it saved somewhere. I also liked the daily threads we once had about gay history of that day. About 18 years ago there was a journalist (Chris Barillas?) who wrote gay news on the opening DL page. That was always worth reading.

There are so many old gems. A few that just popped into my head:
Jackie On Assistance (the one where auto-correct made a correction to Jackie Onassis and it became a meme that went on and on and on)
Mobility Mary (with links to Youtube videos of that crazy old lady in a mobility scooter who liked to scream at everyone who got in her way)
Tacky Tales (parts 1 through 6 if I recall correctly) - I think the thing about draining spaghetti in a strainer originated here
by Anonymous | reply 81 | May 10, 2019 4:37 AM |
A few before my time:
The one where someone transposed WEHT and it became WHET (what happened ever to.....)
The one where someone misspelled porn and it became pron
by Anonymous | reply 82 | May 10, 2019 4:39 AM |

There are a few I return to repeatedly because they’re so good. The one about Mamie Eisenhower’s awful hairdo was hilarious but also interesting. I learned a lot about some first ladies. Sows at the Trough was so cruel but spot on. Once Around the Garden is still my favorite EST thread, especially when a poster told OP to dress as a shepherdess and use his crook to gently lead away salad bar repeat offenders.
Michfest threads were like a DL holiday. I miss them.
But the queen of best threads is the one about Joan going grocery shopping with Sissy.

The legendary Dan Motherfuck thread. Jani Lane was amazing--I wish I would've saved it.
We had amazing hockey & general sport gossip threads. The hockey ones were a mix of excellent dish and hot pics. We had a least a couple of real insiders who were up on the junior & Euro leagues; I wish they'd come back and post about the newest NHL generation. I'd love to know wtf is really going on in Toronto.
