According to The Hollywood Reporter Stromos are the flip side of gay actors who want to read straight for their careers: They are straight actors striving to read gayish to optimize their appeal — and maximize the number of butts, gym-molded or otherwise, in movie theater seats.” Examples of Stromos are Channing Tatum and Nick Jonas according to THR.

Not new… we used to be known as D-List star fuckers

So far they haven't identified any.
I think Harry Hamlin was the first, and for a long time the only one.

As long as they indulge in the "sexual" part, not just the "homo" part, I'm all for it.

Insincere pandering for cash, no better than gay 4 pay porn whores.

R6. Agree. It's just on a different level than 'gay for pay.' Or porn performers or Chaturbate broadcasters saying they are 'bi,' It supposedly widens their appeal to make money when in fact they are simply gay.

I think it's unfair to include Hamlin in this category. His involvement in Making Love was really quite brave, and I think he approached it as a part of his craft over cultivating gay appeal. It was a more of a detriment to his career as opposed to Franco or Tatum who are living in a time when they can benefit from homo-ambiguity. Why shouldn't straight actors be able to play gay? I don't want to hear any of you queens attack me either for calling a straight man brave for playing a gay role. I'm not blindly worshipping because he's straight, as so many of you would believe.

When did Tatum play gay? Missed that movie.

Besides Harry Hamlin, I believe the correct term for all the gentlemen listed thus far is "bisexual".
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 28, 2015 9:28 PM |
Actually, I believe the term is "Gay Tease."

None of those guys ever claimed to be gay or even bi. They date/marry women and claim to be straight. How is that the same as actors who lie and claim to be straight when they are really gay?

Channing has his true Stromo moment in "This is the End" when he is decked out in leather ala The Gimp, on his knees and professing his love to Danny McBride while it's being discussed how he's his sex slave. A funny cameo but also true to this thread.
Personally, with all the gay Subtext going on in "Foxcatcher", I can't believe it was an invention and ultimately not part of the story/downfall.

Tatum has played too loosely with homo innuendo to be gay (or bi). You won't see a closeted gay actor involved in an on-screen gag where he's someone's butt slave.

Tatum has already come out as bi. Call me a fool, bu I believe him.

Channing Tatum is the most successful cross over G4P whore. He's my role model. I want his career.

Tatum is not a stromo. He's a half homo. In other words Bisexual. Nick Jonas is a troll, his orientation doesn't matter.
