LA (West Hollywood) Gay Pride 2015

Too mainstream and vanilla.

Way too many straight women. A sad state of affairs.

Fortunately, the carnival and the bars (where you actually have to pay $$) was almost entirely boys-only.

Which is funny because stupid bitches try to claim Pride parades are too raunchy. I'm always curious wtf they are talking about, because that is never my experience.

I suspect Channing Tatum and Matt Bomer's participation accounted for the straight women this year

We must declare frau war.

One annoying straight frau came up to my friend and I and screamed, "Are you guys gay or straight?!". UGH. So gross and abrasive.

I went for the first time in years. Pride has become increasingly corporate and expensive. $25 to park. $25 to enter the festival.

The parade had plenty of groups, but none had more people than the group advertising "Transparent". Probably over 100 people wearing the same hideous, multi-colored tunic to advertise a TV show. Nothing about the group supported Trans people, their medical needs, hate-crime legislature, or support services. Just people yelling about a TV show.

I will give them props for having tons of bars in the festival, and Wilson Philips sounded fantastic.

Oh, dear.

I have a question/observation: At such events and in clubs I'm sometimes reminded of an article I read by B.E. Ellis. There's a segment of the straight public who wants to embrace the cute, cuddly gay. However, I've noticed that they have stopped dead on their heals when they encounter a real live lesbian at the parade.

Worse is the segment of gays who crave such an embrace -- they are known as Good Gays and are much like Good Blacks.

Too much fucking attention to the "trans" and Caitlyn Jenner... yes, because that murderess is so worthy of all the positive praise he/she's been getting.

Gay Conservative says Gay Pride Parade Gross Distasteful & Reinforces Stereotypes

Saying "Gay hardships have been eradicated', thus gay pride is no longer necessary. Also says "the counter productive part that it seems to reinforce negative stereotypes. So if people are still holding out suspicions that gay people are sort of these licentious, decadent weirdos. Well then you are never going to get more proof of that then watching your average gay pride parade. Which holds itself up as saying this is the essence of the homosexual identity. And I say no it's not."

R11 & R15 are straight women or lesbians.. or the type of gay that brings in his 10 gal-pals to the Eagle.

by Anonymousreply 16June 18, 2015 4:25 AM

OP it's all mainstream now. We gave up everything when we stopped being counter-culture.
