I LOVED them both, OP!!! I never heard of him or any of the others until I subscribed to this guy's page on YouTube who is located in Portugal. What I like about this series is that I watched how the world united together to watch this story line! If you go to his page "Safelight" and read the many comments under each video.... just amazing! Also, it was this community that did all of the various translations. They can now be seen with (EN.ES.FR.IT.DE.EΛ.SR.中文) subtitles. It just showed the power of social media. Just amazing!

To relax, I go back many times to watch the music video that SafeLight made.

Yes R8 and the network that was running the show with David and Xavier quickly apologized when they cut out a kiss between David and Xavier because viewers complained about something I don't think an American network or show would probably do.

I live in the US, and the only reason I know who he is, is because I watched the Portugese television show "Os Nossos Dia" on youtube.

It's about a Portugese family that moves into an apartment building in Lisbon (I think), and the handsome son (Xavier) falls for this guy in his building (David) who, at the time, was dating a girl. The handsome son David is like a "golden boy" soccer player, and of course that's going to cause problems for his dad, who wants to see him with a girl.

David and Xavier eventually become a couple, but the struggles with the Xavier's coming out and David's character revealing (to his girlfriend) that he's attracted to a man, causes a whole lot of uncomfortable situations and drama.

It's a pretty good show. I wish we had something like it in the US.

R27 There was a kiss but the network had cut it out supposedly because they thought that some viewers may not have wanted to see the kiss. But once the network had got some push back from fans they quickly came out and apologized for editing out the gay kiss.

Like it or not R28 there is still a long way to go before total acceptance. Many people are still very uncomfortable seeing two people of the same sex kiss. Heck! There are those who don't want to see heterosexual couples displays of affection. That doesn't mean that they are against same-sex relationships but most of us have not been reared seeing that. That's why it is going to take time and things introduced delicately.

I suppose what frustrates me about Duarte Gomes, and/or the people who manage him, is that he realizes that he has a very large gay audience which probably made him known throughout the world because of the series "O Beijo do Escorpião" and "Os Nossos Dias"--especially "O Beijo do Escorpião". Anyway, they're all very controlling of his image. Very rarely is he photographed in released images of him with a man or woman. It's as if they want to keep it a mystery if he is gay or not. Someone on YouTube really boosted his notoriety when that person made a serial about the Paulo & Miguel from the "O Beijo do Escorpião" series. I know for a fact that it was noticed by the creators, producers, and network, of that series. I asked the guy who did the editing for the YouTube serial and he informed me that he had been contacted by a lot of people from the production and they really liked the worldwide publicity that he brought to the show. It's one of the reasons that they never hit him with content infringement and forced YouTube to take it down. Now, that's unlike the "Os Nossos Dias" series of which the YouTube guy was told to take the content down. BUT.... it's back up and I believe it is because the people of that series was shown all of the international attention that the gay story line received.

The common denominator between the two novellas? Duarte Gomes

Duarte should be plucked out for international stardom just like Antonio Banderas and Javier Bardem.

Why are they trying to control his image r39? He's a good actor and he had chemistry with both of his male costars/love interest in O Beijo do Escorpião and Os Nossos Dias. Much more so than that American actor who is worshipped here.
