Isn't this the scene Goldie Hawn watches back like a million times in Death Becomes Her? Or am I getting it confused?

This is the film where Pauline Kael wrote that the most exciting thing Streep does in it is to change the part in her hair.

Her worst film? But there are so very many to choose from!

Bitch totally screwed my film, August:Osage county.

Haha, love how Meryl is able to catch her with one arm without going over herself. Such a tired trope.

But I love this movie. I love slow atmospheric movies. When did she say it's the worst one she has ever made?

Sara Botsford would later play Duncan psychotic ex-wife Lilith on As The World Turns.
She killed his current wife Shannon and showed Duncan her shrunken head.

When she was making it, it was known as Stab!

R6 fresh off of Kramer Vs Kramer that director Robert Benton asked her to consider his latest project, a film noir where she would play the Femme fatale
without even reading the script, Meryl signed on the dotted line. After Kramer v Kramer, what could go wrong?
btw the original title of the film was STAB
Flash forward 30 years
Andy Cohen asked to name one bad film she made, Streep replied Still Of The Night.

Not Mamma Mia? Not that lifestyle commercial dreck with Steve Martin? Not that idiotic rafting suspenseria with Kevin Bacon?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 30, 2015 2:37 PM |
What about Hope Springs?

R9 STILL OF THE NIGHT WAS 1982, same year as SOPHIE'S CHOICE; KRAMER VS. KRAMER was 1979; in between she did THE FRENCH LIEUTENANT'S WOMAN.

[quote] STILL OF THE NIGHT WAS 1982,
Yes but it was plagued by problems as it was held back from release, while it was re-edited and scenes re-shot. But to no avail.

WOW

Sara Botsford did a totally unbelievable TV series where two men were fighting for her affections.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 30, 2015 6:51 PM |
Roy Scheider was supposedly impossible to work with.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 30, 2015 6:56 PM |
M doesn't play a femme fatale in the film. Maybe she did originally, but not after the reshoots.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 31, 2015 9:48 AM |
Didn't Jessica Tandy play Meryl's mother?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | March 31, 2015 9:57 AM |
If Gone Girl was released in 1982, Meryl would have been interesting in that role NON?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 31, 2015 10:38 AM |
R19 - No, Jessica T was Roy's mother.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | March 31, 2015 2:32 PM |
shocking!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 11, 2020 8:30 PM |
It's one of those non-thrilling thrillers that's clearly made by someone who had no idea how movies like this work.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 11, 2020 8:49 PM |
DId she forget "One True Thing?"
