Allison Williams Defends Her Father Brian Williams

"Girls" star Allison Williams is defending her father, news anchor Brian Williams, who was suspended without pay last week from NBC after he admitted he fabricated a story about his time covering the war in Iraq in 2003.

In an interview with Seth Meyers at the 92nd Street Y on Wednesday night, the 26-year-old actress addressed her father's scandal for the first time.

of course she would-only natural since it's her father.

That said, it doesn't change my opinion of him. I don't care what his relationship is like with her.

I only care about the FACT that he was caught lying several times, and often times about the same lie.

I'm sick of other celebs trying to make us feel bad for a celeb involved in a scandal. Whenever a non-famous person makes the news for something like this, everyone piles on that individual and says how awful he/she is and that he/she should be fired. The standards shouldn't be different simply due to fame.

I don't know why reading the news teleprompter requires credibility. This is all so overblown.

by Anonymousreply 4February 19, 2015 10:26 PM

R2, I think it's a safe bet since half the people watching "Girls" were probably wondering when Brian grew his hair out and enjoyed getting his ass eaten.

by Anonymousreply 5February 19, 2015 10:27 PM

We know. Do a search.

by Anonymousreply 6February 19, 2015 10:30 PM

R4, because he also goes out to do stories and if he's lying about his own experiences, why should anyone believe him when he's reporting? He also lied when he claimed Hezbollah shot at his plane. These kinds of myths are dangerous and exploitative. You can't take these things lightly. He was part of spreading the lies that even got us into war.

The guy is a lying asshole who forgets that a journalist isn't supposed to be the news story, but he's such a whore for attention that not only did he fail as a journalist, but he turned out to be a self-absorbed, attention-whoring propagandist.

I don't get it either. But, I never watch tv news. I'm actually surprised TV news isn't dead...as many newspapers have gone BK in the last 10 years.

R7.. WELL SAID!

I can't understand why Alison Williams would be giving an interview at the 92nd St Y but the story she told about the father-daughter dance is taking on a life of its own.

by Anonymousreply 10February 19, 2015 10:49 PM

Of course, she has to defend her daddy. He is the reason she gets work.

I understand her standing by Daddy, but she lost me when she referred to him as "honest" and "truthful."

[quote]"It's been tough, though. Obviously, toughest on my dad, who bears the full burden of responsibility for it, but one thing the experience has not done is shake my trust and belief in him as a man," she told Meyers. "He's a really good man. He's an honest man. He's a truthful man. He has so much integrity. He cares so much about journalism. And yes, he's a really good dad. I know you can trust him because, as any good daughter does, I've tested him on that."

Nah, she "Brown Bunny"-ed herself with that instantly-infamous ass-eating scene. Dad's downfall completes her collapse.

NO, he DOESN'T.

Fuck NYC media elite and their enabling, excusing, rehabbing and ridiculous feelings of persecution (from the truth!)
