Have we discussed this yet? I did a search and didn't see anything. It/he is pretty damned awesome.
Ballet Dancer Sergei Polunin and "Take Me To Church"
by Anonymous | reply 57 | February 25, 2018 4:23 PM |
Uh, the tats are distracting, and he's short. I like the last 20 seconds of the choreography, and he does have good technique. The jumps are beautiful. I just wished he would not have looked down on 98% of the dance.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 13, 2015 10:03 AM |
There is something about dancers trained in the Russian (he's Ukranian but. . .) ballet style that imparts a unique grace and lightness to their movements.
Pity about his tats. They are a major distraction.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 13, 2015 10:06 AM |
How does he get work with all thos tats?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 13, 2015 10:16 AM |
Makeup or clothing - he's worth the extra effort, r3. I believe he either co-owns a tattoo parlour or wants to be a tattoo artist when he retires?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 13, 2015 10:30 AM |
I don't know why people put a permanent thing on their bodies. Seriously, people change and their likes do over time as well.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 13, 2015 10:40 AM |
He also has these strange cuts on his body, R2. I think it's called Scarification. He seems to be a bit "off". I still really enjoyed the video. The way he moves is mesmerizing.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 13, 2015 1:04 PM |
huNG!
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 13, 2015 5:37 PM |
Quite lovely. I adore ballerinos.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 13, 2015 5:44 PM |
It would help if he could actually keep time to the music. Is he deaf?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 13, 2015 6:28 PM |
The music was likely dubbed in after it was taped.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 13, 2015 6:29 PM |
I think they're missing the other two solid gold dancers, though
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 13, 2015 6:40 PM |
Very pretentious. Tats galore, skin color pants. I just can't.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 13, 2015 6:55 PM |
I can make him a star!
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 13, 2015 6:58 PM |
Song is revolting. Lyrics, Elton John affectation. I can't comment on the dancing except to wonder why this sort of thing is appealing to ANYONE. So queer.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 13, 2015 7:21 PM |
I love it and he is fucking gorgeous (not his tattoos, but I can live with them). I've been a fan of his for a long time. Of course, the basement dwellers of DL have to bitch and complain, as they do about anything and anyone. May your keyboards become so encrusted with dried cum and Cheeto dust that you can no longer type.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 13, 2015 7:54 PM |
I agree with R15, except that I like his tattoos.
When I saw this thread, I knew the typical DL brigade of prune-faced old men would show up to complain. No one is allowed to do anything to his own body without the approval of the DL ancients.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 13, 2015 8:00 PM |
will he be transitioning soon?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 13, 2015 8:01 PM |
I actually assume he is straight, non?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 13, 2015 8:08 PM |
hate tats! ugh!
Otherise it's a good video.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 13, 2015 8:41 PM |
You anti-tat trolls are tiring.

"Ballet Dancer Sergei Polunin and "Take Me To Church""
Well isn't that special. In those tight Satan pants, he looks like a Russian pole dancer.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 13, 2015 11:21 PM |
[quote]Song is revolting. Lyrics, Elton John affectation.
The song is the best thing about the video, and the real video for Take Me to Church, is heart wrenching.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 15, 2015 7:39 AM |
He's... Alright. Nothing any corps dancer couldn't do. I knew I'd regret clicking on this. Anything the Internet fawns over is always so mediocre.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 15, 2015 7:45 AM |
He's OK but his body doesn't begin to compare to Baryshnikov's during his prime.
Misha's thighs were twice this guy's size. Misha's ass was also huge and muscular. Absolutely the best ass I've ever seen.
Does this guy cover up his tats when he does classical roles? That's a lot of shit to cover.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 15, 2015 8:16 AM |
His angle IS the tats. He's the "bad boy of Russian ballet" at the moment - has managed to generate some controversy in classical dance circles.
His technique is perfect, but he doesn't connect to the song at all. Then again, the original video is harrowing and bleak, but it also has nothing to do with the song.
Hozier is a wonderful song writer, but his voice is very weak.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 15, 2015 10:37 AM |
Did he stuff his bulge? That looks like a big sock and nothing like a natural penis shape.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 15, 2015 11:18 AM |
Post a good dancer then, R23. I think his technique is pretty amazing.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 15, 2015 12:33 PM |
The height of pretension. He's gross and since when did David Chapelle become a director? I thought he was still hiding out in Africa from all those horrible producers who want to throw billions at him to return to Comedy Central?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 15, 2015 4:47 PM |
WTF OP?! You think this is "awesome"?! You need to get out and watch more dance performances. geesh.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 15, 2015 5:05 PM |
That was fucking lame. And the point was?????
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 15, 2015 5:23 PM |
Dave Chapelle = Comedian
David LaChapelle = Trashy photographer
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 15, 2015 5:25 PM |
I had no idea so many ballet critics post on DL.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 15, 2015 5:31 PM |
The tattoos are tragic.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 15, 2015 5:35 PM |
The director is David LaChapelle the photographer not the comedian Dave Chapelle.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 15, 2015 5:49 PM |
He's an excellent dancer but the tattoos are awful, and the music is horrible. Like someone said, it's Elton Johnish (shudder). It was probably dubbed after he did this - have no idea who chose it, was it the cinematographer, LaChapelle? If so, he has ZERO taste.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 15, 2015 5:50 PM |
The setting is exactly the same as a PBS special I saw decades ago which was brilliant. A dance troupe re-enacting a cult and the setting is in some barn. I don't remember the title but LaChapelle stole the whole look from it
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 15, 2015 5:53 PM |
I'm #dyingoflaughter at R28
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 15, 2015 6:09 PM |
Thank you, R35!

last night, i watched a few of the youtube videos of sergei polunin dancing and also speaking about his life.
they are worth watching.
he was the youngest principal dancer for the royal ballet in london but then quit after 7 years.
he speaks very eloquently about his art, other people's expectations of him, and the pain of his childhood.
i'll list the links below.
the first is why he quit the royal ballet.

a World Stage 2009/10 behind the scenes --- polunin photoshoot
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 20, 2015 12:18 AM |
i didn't have a chance to watch all of the videos.
i'm not sure if sergei polunin was dancing to Hozier's song and david la chappelle spotted him and filmed him or the other way around--
polunin started performing it after the la chappelle video was shot.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | March 20, 2015 12:21 AM |
now i realize that the tattoo on his right arm is his father figure, igor.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | March 21, 2015 4:02 AM |
Is he a gay?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | March 13, 2017 5:49 PM |
Just saw an interesting documentary about Polunin's life ("Dancer"). I had never heard of him before (I don't follow ballet). He's an enfant terrible with tons of drugs thrown in.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | March 13, 2017 6:25 PM |
The latest collaboration with LaChappelle, for Diesel.
I'm still a big fan, but I roll my eyes every time I see another article referring to him as the "bad boy of ballet."

You KNOW miss gurl can milk a cock like it was a dairy cow.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | March 13, 2017 7:19 PM |
I want to fuck him and feel the pulsations of his ass squeezing my dick
by Anonymous | reply 50 | March 13, 2017 7:33 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 51 | March 13, 2017 8:28 PM |

Speaking of that song by Hoozier, isn’t he dating “Sir Sha” Ronan? And speaking of her film Ladybird, isn’t Timothée Chalamet just fantastic?? Here’s a pic!

You bumped a year-old thread just to add that pearl of wisdom, R55? F&F
