The Jet Set Life of Karl Lagerfeld’s Favorite Male Model — for Now

One Sunday last spring, Brad Kroenig and his 5-year-old son, Hudson, showed up at a private airport near Paris to meet Karl Lagerfeld, the fashion designer. “Karl will be here 1, 1:30 for takeoff,” announced a Frenchman in a black suit and tie. “O.K., cool,” Brad said. The man in the suit performed something like a bow and retreated. It was 12:45. Brad sank into an armchair by the window and surveyed the tarmac. He pointed out a large gray hawk of a plane that stood off to the side of the slighter, dovelike jets. “It’s the same one that Oprah has,” Brad said. “It’s the biggest one. It flies, like, the longest journey. A lot of private planes have to stop for gas.”

Brad knows what kind of plane Lagerfeld travels on because he has flown on it often. As the most senior and prominent member of a group of male models often referred to as Karl’s Boys, Brad not only works for Chanel and Fendi, the fashion houses where Lagerfeld is the head designer, but also accompanies him on yearly vacations to St. Tropez and work trips and to parties worldwide. He has been photographed with Lagerfeld so often that gossip blogs have mistakenly identified him as the designer’s boyfriend, but their relationship is not romantic. Lagerfeld refers to Brad and the other models that travel with him as his family, albeit a self-selected, genetically ideal one. “I hate ugly people,” Lagerfeld told me. “Very depressing.” If models were show dogs, Brad would be a golden retriever. He has a strong jaw, hazel eyes and thick blond hair that seems perpetually windswept. The scruff on his face is shaped carefully, deliberately, to draw attention to his cheekbones. Unlike other beautiful people whose appeal lies in a distinctive facial quirk, Brad’s features are perfectly proportioned, with no apparent flaws or peculiarities. When he models, he looks like a Roman statue. “His best bit is the curve of his thigh,” Lagerfeld once said. At the airport, Hudson snapped photos on an iPhone while his father modeled for him. An hour went by. The man in the suit reappeared and said there would be “a special cake” for “Mr. Hudson” on the plane. Brad asked if there might be special wine for him. “Might as well, right?” he said, and grinned. Around 2:30, Lagerfeld appeared at the top of the stairs leading to the airport lounge. He was dressed in the manner that has made him the most recognizable designer in the world: a white shirt with a high Edwardian collar, fingerless leather gloves, a strict black blazer and sunglasses. A diamond cat brooch was pinned to his tie, and his tight black pants were covered in a microprint of his own likeness, which ran up and down the leg and, from far away, looked like a thick pinstripe. “Hello!” Lagerfeld said. He glanced at the field of small planes and frowned. “And where is ours? Is it that one?” Brad pointed to the larger jet parked just out of view. “Ah, the big one,” Lagerfeld said. “Good.” Lagerfeld was expected that evening in Dubai, where he would show Chanel’s 2015 resort collection in two days. Typically Brad would model in the show, but in Dubai, only Hudson, who is Lagerfeld’s godson, would walk the runway. (He has been appearing in Chanel shows since he was 2.) Lagerfeld was accompanied on the trip, as he is most places, by his 39-year-old bodyguard, Sébastien Jondeau, a part-time boxer with a sinewy build and an intense stare. (A few days later, he nearly body-checked Brad when he held a cup of coffee a little too close to Lagerfeld’s white blazer). Lagerfeld led the way to the plane. Inside, a wineglass of Diet Coke awaited him at his seat. At the back of the aircraft was a single bed made up with crisp white linens. “But where am I going to sleep?” Hudson asked. “You sleep on your seat, darling,” Lagerfeld replied in his heavy German accent. “I have to arrive fresh, you don’t have to. Don’t be selfish.” Lagerfeld rummaged in one of his many shopping bags and fished out a matching light blue Givenchy tank top and shirt with their tags still attached. “For Dubai,” he said, handing them to Brad. For the plane ride, Brad wor

And Heath Ledger.

by Anonymousreply 7January 17, 2015 10:41 AM

Yeah, I don't think Brad's modeling life has been as peachy as he makes it sound. It's a tough world. Obviously you start to wonder about the casting couch, even for big stars like him.

The article doesn't hide the connection of Lagerfeld becoming Hudson's godfather and Brad getting his job back. Is it creepy like R2 says? I don't know. All models have to face the future and Brad seems to have used his son for that, at least partly. I doubt once his modeling career in Europe is over Lagerfeld will pay him anything anymore, even if he's the kid's godfather. I sincerely don't see Lagerfeld forming deep relationships with anyone.

This part of the article made me smile and at the same time wonder where we are at the Kinsey scale. It also hinted once again about certain homoeroticism Karl and Brad's friendship has.

[italic]At the docks, Brad boarded a boat with twin Palestinian socialites, who recognized Hudson from the show. “Oh, my God, we’re so lucky to be sitting next to you!” one said.

“I’m Brad, Hudson’s father.”

The twins said they were born in Saudi Arabia but now lived in Los Angeles. “So, are you guys identical twins?” Brad asked.

“Yeah.”

“Everywhere?”

Their expressions soured. “What do you mean?”

Brad smiled.[/italic]

He wore his Rolex and added a gold Chrome Hearts medallion around his neck, which he displayed with the shirt open, Scarface-style.

“If I button up, it just looks too business,” he said.

When Brad and Hudson went to get Lagerfeld from his room, the designer took in Brad’s outfit and nodded approvingly.

“It’s chic, huh?” Brad said.

“Yes, perfect for Dubai,” Lagerfeld said.

Should've done a search for the original thread. Oops!

Anyway, I found this article to be pretty damn hilarious due to the ridiculous way in which Karl and his muse were portrayed.

But I also have issues with the way Brad's sons are being pimped out by a father desperate to remain relevant.

by Anonymousreply 29January 17, 2015 4:20 PM

Yes, he's hideous. Horrific, even. Ghastly-looking.

by Anonymousreply 30January 17, 2015 4:21 PM

Yes his looks are very inoffensive, hence the Golden Retriever comparison. One might say it's the perfect face for a model: good looking but forgettable, only there to serve as a sort of faceless model.

In reality he's not that forgettable. He has pleasant face that appeals to me to a point.

by Anonymousreply 31January 17, 2015 4:25 PM

by Anonymousreply 41January 17, 2015 8:12 PM

by Anonymousreply 45January 17, 2015 9:05 PM

He has that Midwestern, blonde, cornfed look that is prized by a certain type of European fag. He certainly leads a bizarre and empty lifestyle. A total horror that he is pimping out his kid for god knows what. There's no question he's put out for that self loathing, repulsive queen Lagerfeld.

Creepy, sad, pathological.

Karl's certainly not keeping him around for the stimulating conversation.

by Anonymousreply 52January 17, 2015 9:53 PM

He's generic looking, good for runway work but he'd never land a campaign if Lagerfeld hadn't glommed onto him.

by Anonymousreply 55January 17, 2015 10:10 PM

He's good looking but not good looking enough to be a supermodel. He isn't in the Sabato or Gandy realm of hotness. Clearly his connections are working for him though. I think he looks older than his age and reminds me a bit of Scott Speedman and Scott Caan. Is he married?

by Anonymousreply 56January 17, 2015 10:17 PM

by Anonymousreply 57January 17, 2015 10:20 PM

That Sears catalog comment is so true. Joseph Banks has better looking models.

I was expecting a young Alain Delon.

by Anonymousreply 58January 17, 2015 10:36 PM

A former male super model lives in my neighborhood, in LIC Queens! Not in the cool part either.

I see him occasionally shopping at Costco and Rite Aid, he's usually with his kids. His name, Alex Lundqvist. I remember he was close friends with Mark Vanderloo and another male model, they were considered the top male models of their era.

I was shocked when I first saw him, I knew he looked familiar. His kids immediately gave him away, they are bi-racial, I remembered he had married a black woman.

I also recognized him because when I was an Art Director, I worked on fashion ads during his years of fame. He was too expensive for the level of ads I was working on. Our Fashion Editor complained she wanted to hire him, but he was "much too expensive".

Now he's living in a rather blah looking house in Queens, He lives about three blocks away from the Costco in LIC.

His house is very nondescript. It looks like one of those homes put up years ago which were subsidized. The catch was the buyer had to remain living in the house and only rent the other unit, you weren't allowed to rent both units. You also have to own for a while before selling.

I'm ot sure of all the details, a friend bought a similar house in LIC. Their house was about $350,000 in the 1990s.

{quote]You make his life sound horrible, [R59].

Seems pretty content to me...

I didn't say his life was horrible, though, you do have to wonder how and why one of the top male models lives on a nondescript dreary block in LIC, in what is essentially a working class area of LIC.

I assumed he'd have bought a downtown loft back in the day, just like many other male and female models bought during the height of their careers. Lofts wee very low priced back then, a friend bought a loft in Soho for around $60,000 in the late 1980s, another for around $35,000 in the late 1970s.

It just seems so odd that he lives in Queens. The times I did see him in Rite Aid, women and men were staring at him, he is that good looking. It seems he didn't move to Queens to avoid people staring at him, they are still looking, no matter where he lives.

And fuck you R63. I don't really care about how Lundqvist lives, it's his business, but anyone who knows how famous he was would be shocked he lives in a working class area of LIC. I grew up in his area of LIC, I can't imagine any wealthy or upper middle class person purposely living in that part of LIC.

It could be that he finds his area perfectly normal, he is Swedish, after all.

by Anonymousreply 68January 18, 2015 12:20 AM
He's Swedish and LIC is an up and coming hood, especially the waterfront.

You seem to know little about Long Island City, it's not all trendy and "up and coming". There are still parts which will not be gentrified anytime in the near future, which is fine by me.

Guess you missed the part of the post where I mentioned the exact part of LIC where Lundqvist lives. He lives nowhere near the trendy glass towers which have been going up on the LIC waterfront over the past 10+ years, he lives at the other end of LIC, which still has factories and old houses on the side streets.

There is the Noguchi museum across the street from Costco, otherwise there is absolutely NOTHING trendy about where he lives. I actually live about six blocks from him. It's definitely not a trendy up and coming part of LIC. It's quiet, still has a ton of original families who have passed on their homes to their family members. It's still blue collar.

There are two sets of old co-op complexes, a housing project, old one and two family homes and apartment buildings. There is very little new construction going up in this part of LIC. One new residential building has gone up by Socrates Park which is next to Costco.

On Lundqvist's side of his block, all the houses are the same, which points to them being subsidized or at least put up by the same contractor. They are blocky nondescript attached houses.

I'm not going to link his house, but it's easy to find. It's not an old dilapidated house, but it's not very attractive either. My friend owns a similar home, the rooms are hardly large, the backyard is also very small. The larger apartment is my friend's two apartment house is a duplex.

by Anonymousreply 81January 18, 2015 3:04 AM

Go fuck yourself. You'd probably be the first person drooling at his doorstep. I have a long term partner, I'm quite happy, Thank You. We have two teen children.

I'm not a stalker at all, I posted that I see him in MY neighborhood all the time. He seems to enjoy being noticed, he was talking to some people while we were waiting on a line at Costco. I never approached him. The workers I'm friendly with at Rite Aid even know who he is as do a few of Costco workers I talk to, the women love him.

I've lived in LIC since I was a kid, I'm hardly a stalker, this is MY neighborhood. I certainly didn't follow this model here.

I kept seeing him around, I recognized him, then wondered why the hell would a formerly famous super model be living in LIC. It's that simple and innocent. Of course, the snarky freaks at DL have to turn it into something sinister. I should have known better, typical bitchy DL responses. Not many famous people live in my area, I thought it would be an interesting story to post.

Personal online info is easily accessible about anyone you are trying to find. Funny how some of you listed his Instagram, I've never seen it, yet you went there immediately.

Just type in a person's name and their info shows up online. I know a few people who became famous, musicians, their residential info easily comes up. I already had their addresses/phone numbers because we are still friends, I did tell them that their addresses were online.

You can even find out how much someone paid for their house or co-op/condo. I can't believe some of you are so naive.

Unfortunately, the denizens of this site are depressing reminders that his brand of vile elitism is still VERY much alive and well.

by Anonymousreply 90January 18, 2015 12:37 PM

The model is one beautiful man

by Anonymousreply 91January 18, 2015 12:51 PM

If his father is named "Christian" R88, why am I thinking he'd probably not Jewish as the site you linked to claims.

by Anonymousreply 92January 18, 2015 1:00 PM

Karl Lagerfeld reminds me of Andy Warhol. What he does for a "living" transcends the definition of job or occupation.

The power & influence he has on global culture seems lost on many of the posters here. As usual. I cannot think of anyone else who lives a day to day existence like KL. I have never heard one single whisper of pedophilia in regard to Lagerfeld. But (typically) the bitter, envious ,swooping seagulls of Datalounge have no problem projecting their disgusting implications into the story.

My impression has always been that he surrounds himself with beautiful young people to keep his creativity fresh. I imagine the "normal" suburban lives of people like Brad & his family must sometimes seem at times quite appealing to him.

There is no other couturier, living or dead who has consistently created the magnitude of quality output of collections & lifestyle branding as Karl Lagerfeld. The Chanel logo is the worlds most recognizable, and that is because of him.

Lastly,it struck me that the articles author was trying very hard to do a hatchet-job on the model Brad, his wife & life as well as Lagerfeld & the world of high fashion itself. Having said that, what I noticed is how little ammunition the subjects gave him to work with.

by Anonymousreply 99January 18, 2015 3:36 PM

R93, a great post. Lagerfeld is very prolific.

I love the beauty of fashion world, the artiness of it, the great photography, beautiful people. Even the clothes themselves to a point even if they don't really mean that much to me.
I can't wait until the aesthete effetes like the vampirous Karl Lagerfeld and their quasi-Nazi eugenecist ideas are long DEAD and buried. Unfortunately, the denizens of this site are depressing reminders that his brand of vile elitism is still VERY much alive and well.

You might need to explain what you mean a bit more. You disagree with Lagerfeld's taste in men or with his designs? Or with the haute couture world? You do realize that there are all kinds forms of fashion out there. KL and other haute couture designers live in a world of their own but if you don't like them no one is forcing you to buy or even see their stuff, even if the designs trickle down to Walmart clothes at some point.

And really, there's all kinds of art, photography and fashion out there. If you have problem with the current beauty ideal you still can find alternative sub-cultures that offer something else easily. It's not like KL is the only one dictating what style and beauty should be like.

I haven't read the article, but isn't that the guy from the Lagerfeld documentary? In it the model is posing nearly naked for a while. Pleasant to watch.

The documentary is good as well (it is on Netflix in Europe), he is an interesting person (for what he is - and he seems to be very well aware of what he is). I do recommend it even if it is not groundbreaking or awe-inspiring.

I am doing some work in Florence, Italy, and this week there has been Pitti Uomo (men's fashion week). Being a small city, it's not too hard to get connected and I have gone to a few of the fashion after-parties, and saw some of the models. What a shock. The women looked the way you'd expect, but the men I saw, all aged 22 or under, looked like 10 year old boys on stilts. I have never seen such narrow shoulders and undeveloped torsos on anyone except, well, 10 year old boys.

Karl is like so many older gay men. They grew up lusting after hetero guys usually the jocks. They only see hetero guys as attractive. Gay men to them are never good-looking enough and more importantly never masculine. Gay men who are masculine are only pretending or are not really masculine, it's something only hetero guys can have. Karl wants to wrap himself around these hetero guys masculinity and beauty. The funny thing is gay men like Karl are ashamed of their effeminacy yet do nothing to be masculine, they don't want that lifestyle.

Can you imagine what gay people's lives would be like if gay people would invest in their intimate relationships like Karl does with these guys?
I own a brownstone a block away from the LIC Costco. I turned down an offer of two million dollars for it last year. Many of those buildings look like nothing on the outside, the inside is a completely different story

There are NO brownstones near Costco, none I recall seeing....just the types of houses I described. There is one block of brownstones at the other end of LIC, near 47th Avenue, that block looks right out of the West Village.

Near Costco, there are lots of very old one and two family brick and shingled homes, a few row houses, one large apartment building on the corner of 34th Avenue, it's on the same avenue as the pink marbled 'Taj Mahal' which is a re-vamped old apartment building owned by an Indian family who transformed the corner, a former parking lot, into a few small apartments. A friend knows the owners.

There have been some high end sales in the Costco area over the years, the friend's brother sold one of his properties to the developers who built the Noguchi museum, he got around a million many years ago. His family owns about five or six of the remaining ten houses in block by the Noguchi, last year he sold one of them.

If you really do live in the neighborhood, please name the housing project as well as the names of the two co-op complexes which are in the vicinity of Costco.

by Anonymousreply 130January 18, 2015 11:46 PM

Sorry to derail this thread into a real estate discussion about LIC.

I finally read the article about this model in today's Times.

The guy sounds really vapid and uneducated. He sounds both overly conceited and 'gee whiz' about his 'fabulous' life. He's not even that interesting looking, he does look a lot like Luke Perry and the others another poster mentioned, that description was spot on.

He quit school? What does he expect to do when his 15 minutes are up, especially as he makes nowhere near the amount of money the female super models earn.

It's also kid of creepy that KL is so interested in his small son Hudson. Does this airhead model think KL will actually remain close friends with him after his modeling days are over? Because KL is Hudson's godfather?! Is he really that dense.

KL has a reputation for discarding most of his friends once they've ceased to be useful to him. KL might be a great fashion designer and a good photographer, but he seems like such a shallow vacuous person who clearly uses others.

What a depressing article.

by Anonymousreply 131January 18, 2015 11:59 PM

His 15 minutes? He's been a top male model for 12+ years and he's supporting his family in a very fancy NYC suburb. He's had a career that probably no other male model has ever had.

Plus, he's no different than an actor who keeps getting cast by the same director or producer. I give him points for keeping his career alive so long.

by Anonymousreply 132January 19, 2015 12:21 AM

Try again, R132. "He's supporting" his family? Where would he be without Karl's money? And I'd hardly call Wyckoff, NJ "a very fancy NYC suburb."

by Anonymousreply 133January 19, 2015 12:34 AM

I must admit I have never heard of this Brad model guy. And yes, he is not all that (he must have been in a kind of platonic relationship with KL in the past of something).

The really gorgeous models of 10-15 years back were Robert Perovich, Ivan de Pineda and others, certainly NOT this guy.

by Anonymousreply 142January 19, 2015 12:56 AM

Yikes, Mark Vanderloo looks 65. Too much Sun, or too much booze.

by Anonymousreply 143January 19, 2015 1:00 AM

He emulates dandies, r136. He details this in his diet book.

by Anonymousreply 144January 19, 2015 1:03 AM

There is so much I can say in this thread from personal experience having worked for Chanel for sometime now and having worked some of the shows the major male models walked in the late 90s.

The amazing thing is Vanderloo's wrinkles were almost that deep 20 years ago, but they just airbrushed the hell out of him for a long time.

Alex is beautiful and does a lot of catalog work. He will be able to model well into his 50s with his bone structure and skin.

You can be "average" looking as a model, but it's all about symmetry and the way the light hits your face. You can have someone who is beautiful in person who doesn't take nearly as good pictures as someone whose face the light loves. Brad might look "everyday," but his features are symmetrical, which is the basis of beauty.

He does have a baby penis. That one surfboard shot, my god.

Karl is a genius and is VERY much in on the joke. He has been the designer for Chanel for over 30 years now. He knows how and when to be provocative. He understands the vapidity of the world he moves in and uses it to his advantage. He says something like he doesn't want poor people to own his bags and his bags become the number one thing for poor women to aspire to own. And it makes wealthy women love him even more for saying the things they would never dare.

The stuff with the kid is simple and innocent. He I am sure cares for him. But hearing he hasn't talked to his own sister for 40 years is all I needed hear about how he views the people in his life.

The hottest male models are in his Dallas show. He used the most in that show including Brad and some really scorching hot newbies.

His shows are quite amazing, btw.

by Anonymousreply 146January 19, 2015 1:23 AM

It's interesting how Brad's defenders can only trot out the tired arguments about people being haters and Karl's genius.

Being a talented artist doesn't make Karl any less of an asshole. And while I used to envy Brad's life, this article made him come across as quite pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 147January 19, 2015 2:09 PM

Interesting, R145. With all the Lagerfeld threads that come up on DL, no one ever mentions his talent. He is kind of a genius, and I think he's funny. But are you sure he's always joking with the "I hate ugly people" and "Adele is too fat" jokes?

by Anonymousreply 148January 19, 2015 2:26 PM

And yet I bet you'd pay money to suck Brad's dick or tag along on Karl's private plane.

by Anonymousreply 149January 19, 2015 2:28 PM

R147? How is it "interesting"?

by Anonymousreply 150January 19, 2015 2:39 PM

I really do not see Karl Lagerfeld having sex right now with anyone. He is a 80 year old man. Not saying he never did, but at this point I am sure he just reflects on what he had in the past and realizes that that life is behind him. They were female socialites. Like Brad, I'm from Missouri and we tend to call 2 or more people "guys" (regardless of gender.)

by Anonymousreply 191January 31, 2015 9:04 PM

R191, shame, it would've been hot if he was talking about cock size to twin bros.

by Anonymousreply 192January 31, 2015 9:18 PM

I suspect that teeny-wenie expands tenfold, a Germanic trait.

by Anonymousreply 193January 31, 2015 10:37 PM

Is the word "socialite" only used in reference to females?

by Anonymousreply 194February 1, 2015 3:22 AM

I'm sure his dick looked tiny on stage because he was naked on a runway with hundreds of people watching, it was probably cold (most fashion shows are) and he was nervous. That's the kind of situation where dicks shrink to their tiniest. My bet is that he is hung just fine.

They're both average looking at best.

by Anonymousreply 201July 27, 2015 2:38 PM

The kid is probably a major brat in the classroom.

by Anonymousreply 202July 27, 2015 3:32 PM

No one in his class is going to think it's cool that he gets to pose for the creepy white-haired man. Assuming Karl doesn't lose interest when the kid is older and that he maintains some semblance of bland looks and thin frame, he might get to continue modeling, and then that's when the other kids are going to beat the shit out of him because he'll act like an entitled little prick.

by Anonymousreply 203July 27, 2015 11:52 PM

Yeah, I'll bet he and Anna Wintour have LOTS to talk about.

by Anonymousreply 204July 28, 2015 5:51 PM

First, I'm not the troll unearthing threads from 2015. I ran across a reference to Karl Largerfeld and model muse Brad Kroenig in the "Luchino Visconti Abused Bjorn Andresen" thread and came upon this article and thread on Google. I missed it altogether back then.

I don't know if the author altogether didn't see Kroenig positioning his son to become one of Largerfeld's heirs because she thought Brad dim or if the editors insisted such a suggestion be left out because it would appear tawdry or come off as an accusation. But here we are five years later and it appears Godson Hudson is in the running with Choupette and others.

When you capitalized Godson I thought at first you were saying that was his literal first name, it was quite confusing. "Godson Hudson" sounds like the name of a peripheral character in Tristram Shandy.

I hope Choupette is living her best life.

R205 was a little creepy the way he positioned himself and his child as the chosen family of Lagerfeld but hey, I’m sure it was no picnic having Lagerfeld for a godfather figure.

by Anonymousreply 207December 25, 2020 10:33 AM

Baby making hips.

by Anonymousreply 208December 25, 2020 1:45 PM

Thanks for the linked update, R205. It looks like it's going to be an intriguing inheritance battle:
Thought to be worth between £178 million and £400 million, the former Chanel creative director's millions have been in dispute for 16 months, with a group of 7 reportedly fighting over who should get the largest share of his will.
From Chanel employees to favoured male models and his beloved grandson, everyone has a reason to think they should take the lion's share. The 7 include Sebastien Jondeau, Lagerfeld's famously handsome bodyguard, who was once a model; Baptiste Giabiconi, one of Lagerfeld's favourite models; Caroline Lebar, one of Lagerfeld's longest serving employees, who worked on his public relations team; Francoise Cacote, his housekeeper and the personal maid of his cat, Choupette; father and son models Brad and Hudson Koenig, the latter of who is Lagerfeld's godson; and finally Jake Davies, a Yorkshire-born model who starred in several campaigns.
Now, it has been reported that the accountant working on the case has 'disappeared' throwing into chaos the financial and legal wranglings that have been going on behind the scenes since the designer's death.

The accountant just ... 'disappeared' this summer? This is turning into an episode of Clue. I bet it was Mr. Bodyguard Jondeau in the library with a candlestick!

by Anonymousreply 209December 25, 2020 8:35 PM
everyone has a reason to think they should take the lion's share [of the inheritance]. The 7 include [...] Francoise Cacote, his housekeeper and the [bold]personal maid of his cat[/bold], Choupette

Oh, sacré bleu, Choupette, you in danger, gurl! First the accountant 'disappeared', maybe you're next on the list!

I wonder if the maid's, Ms. Cacote's, inheritance stake is independent of Choupette or tied to Choupette's stake. If the former, there may be a dangerous conflict of interest.
Tatler: "This news comes after it has been reported in French media that Lagerfeld's fortune was being investigated in 2016. A source connected to France’s Economy and Finance Ministry told the Daily Mail that they suspected tax fraud.
‘There was a raid on one of Mr Lagerfeld’s businesses to seize evidence, and further enquiries have extended around the world,’ he told the paper. ‘The situation has become extremely complicated, and this is why the settling of Mr Lagerfeld’s affairs is far from simple.’
According to the newspaper, the results of the investigation were leaked, and accused Lagerfeld of failing to declare the equivalent of £19 million."

Oh, Mon Dieu!

I find it amusing that that the Daily Fail, of all publications, has a "source" connected to France’s Economy and Finance Ministry.

by Anonymousreply 211December 25, 2020 8:49 PM

"Source" is probably the spokesperson for the Ministry who gave the same response to any media inquiries. The DM, of course, puffed itself up to appear like The Times.

by Anonymousreply 212December 25, 2020 9:37 PM

I remember this thread like it was yesterday and now it turns out it happened 5 years ago. Time goes faster the older you get.

by Anonymousreply 213December 26, 2020 12:12 AM

Sébastien Jondeau just published his book Ça Va, Cher Karl?, claiming to be the favorite by saying that he was the only consort in the know about Karl's prostate cancer, neither Giabiconi nor Kroenig were told of it.

by Anonymousreply 214February 3, 2021 2:34 PM

He's suing for a share of the estate, right?

Did he actually put out for Karl L.?

by Anonymousreply 215February 3, 2021 2:42 PM

Did Largerfeld die? I had no idea.
