Cliff Richard: "Allegations of sexual abuse of underage boy are completely false"
by Anonymous | reply 72 | January 28, 2020 3:26 AM |
What are they looking for? Did the kid leave his chewing gum on the bedpost?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 15, 2014 12:51 AM |
What IS the statute of limitations on these allegations ?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 15, 2014 12:52 AM |
Totally false He's a well known pussy hound who's poked Connie Francis and Brenda Lee.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 17, 2014 12:33 AM |
Any kind of child porn, I assume.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 17, 2014 12:36 AM |
So they're "widening" the search.
Like his victim's loose prolapsed anus!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 25, 2015 7:35 PM |
What kind of search of a home would be justified based on 40 year old allegation of child abuse? They couldn't possibly have expected to find evidence related to this accusation.

Cliff said he was madly in love with Olivia Newton-John but never had the nerve to tell her. Then he adds, of course everyone loved Olivia.
Well not me.

"Then he adds, of course everyone loved Olivia."
Not me. That costume she wore at the end of Grease was designed for me.

The Brits are now successfully prosecuting underage sexual abuse cases 40 years after they happened.

What an odd coincidence, r6. That song randomly popped into my head yesterday.
He dances like Ellen...

The police resent the strong criticism they got for raiding his house - so will not let this drop.
They use the word 'significant' about the broadening inquiry, which of course raises the stakes, and puts pressure on CR - who protests his absolute innocence.
Quite the face-off.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 26, 2015 4:11 AM |
A perv AND a hypocrite. Serves him right.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 26, 2015 4:14 AM |
They'll sacrifice creepy ol' Cliff to minimize global interest in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 26, 2015 4:30 AM |
Was Cliff Richard molested as a child?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 26, 2015 9:49 AM |
It was last August when they raided his house on the BBC news, then it all seemed to die down. Now they are saying there is more to come. If they could nail Sir Cliff he would be the biggest name they have fished for .... whatever comes up it is his word against theirs, and Cliff may not be fashionable any more, but still has a huge fanbase of devoted fraus and old folk.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 26, 2015 10:01 AM |
Richard's house in England was searched because a man told police he was molested by Richards when he was 16 years old, at a Billy Graham rally in the UK. Cliff was at his home in Portugal at the time.
The police have also been investigating Richards as part of their ongoing Operation Ferndale, which is scoping allegations of CSA at the former Elm Guest House in SW London.
UK police officers were recently discussing Richards on a discussion forum they have, which is moderated by serving officers, and some posted that they had seen or knew colleagues who had seen a dossier detailing Richard's alleged offences against minors. This was reported on Exaro News.
Cliff , whatever else he may or may not be, is a ridiculous closet queen. His 'companion' is American former Catholic priest John McElynn.

So what's the word from the odd high street in Merry Old England?
Is Cliff Richard headed to gaol?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 26, 2015 11:18 AM |
Police have a message board? Blimey.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 26, 2015 11:36 AM |
R27, no word of a lie, guv'nor. They have their own board and they were on there talking about Leon Brittan and all the rest of it.
My British lesbian auntie loves Cliff and will be very unhappy about all this. She insists Cliff is 'the British Elvis'.

He was at a Billy Graham rally. And no one is talking about it. I'd think the DL gang would be all over that.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 26, 2015 11:52 AM |
The police made this new announcement about CR to coincide with the latest report about Savile's routine abuse at the hospital where he 'worked.' They want to link CR generally with that, and increase the pressure on him.
This new portentous statement, and the former high-profile raid on CR's home, shows the police are very confident of their case.
Otherwise, it just looks like threatening, menacing behaviour, and the police wouldn't like to be accused of that in relation to a Knight and 'national treasure' (of sorts). They've raised the stakes.
CR is rich enough to sue, and that threat has I think been floated. Maybe this statement by police also asserts what they think of that legal 'possibility.' Doubtless they also hope that yet more people might come forward. Intriguing situation.
Richard's house in England was searched because a man told police he was molested by Richards when he was 16 years old, at a Billy Graham rally in the UK.
But 16 is legal in the UK now. (Granted, it wasn't back then, but that was just down to a homophobic law). Or is the guy claiming that Richard raped him (in the sense of "rape rape")?

I'm sure there are dozens, if not hundreds, of evangelical figures who are hiding the same kinds of secrets.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 26, 2015 1:41 PM |
What kind of search of a home would be justified based on 40 year old allegation of child abuse?
They're probably looking for other kinds of evidence to use against Richard, like kiddie porn. Not necessarily related to this case, but something ... anything ... to prove he's a perv is better than nothing.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 26, 2015 1:53 PM |
Another closeted homosexual molesting boys. Hardly a surprise.

R32 'But 16 is legal in the UK now. (Granted, it wasn't back then, but that was just down to a homophobic law). Or is the guy claiming that Richard raped him (in the sense of "rape rape")?'
Sorry, what? Are you labouring under the delusion that sexual molestation is legal if the age of the victim coincides with the legal age of consent?
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 26, 2015 2:32 PM |
Cliff Richard was a friend of Lord Boothby and Ronnie Kray. He wrote to Ronnie Kray regularly in prison. What was the relationship between these men?
He was a friend of Tony Blair (aka Anthony Charles Lynton Blair aka Miranda). What was his relationship with Blair?
What WERE the details of the photographs found at a London train station in 1970?
He is on the National Association for Young People in Care’s (NAYPIC) Elm Guest House list. Who IS “Gladys”?
Was he arrested in 1983 by Sutton police for interfering with children?
Did MI5 then tell Sutton police to drop it?

When Cliff sang Daddy's Home, he obviously meant another kind of "daddy" and he is old and overly hirsute.
Sorry, what? Are you labouring under the delusion that sexual molestation is legal if the age of the victim coincides with the legal age of consent?
"Sexual molestation" implies that the victim was underage. Otherwise, it would just be called "rape" or "sexual assault". But I just saw that r25 was talking bullshit anyway, becasue the OP said "a boy [italic]under[/italic] the age of 16".
by Anonymous | reply 45 | February 26, 2015 3:41 PM |
All the shit will come out after his death.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 26, 2015 3:42 PM |
CR takes very good care of himself. Obsessed with his looks and diet. Death is not to be entertained. Admittedly though stress can make its mark.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 26, 2015 4:50 PM |
It was obvious to everyone that Cliff is a homosexual, just like it's obvious he has AIDS. His looks show the AIDS things.
But he will deny it to the end hiding behind fellow closeted Olivia Newton-John of all things. Lucky thing she gave birth to a monster to distract from the rumours surrounding her.

For God's sake, Cliff Richard is a pedophile and a weirdo.
Look at his last hit, abet a minor one was "Daddy's Home." Who did the original? Jermaine Jackson. Who launched Janet Jackson's singing career? Cliff who dueted with her on the hit Two To the Power of Love.
I can't totally blame Cliff as his association with the Jackson's clearly fucked him up.

r51, Jermaine did not do the original version of Daddy's Home. It's an early 60s doo wop song, he just did a cover of it.

by Anonymous | reply 58 | February 28, 2015 7:28 PM |
His attempts at bearding were few and far between and entirely unconvincing. I mean, can YOU imagine Cliff with a *cough* girlfriend? Next: try Morrissey.

The fact he said, "Completely" false makes me believe he is "completely" guilty.

by Anonymous | reply 61 | February 28, 2015 8:43 PM |

Cliff Richard has always seemed creepy. His carefully constructed image of squeaky clean virtue have taken many in. However there seems so much smoke to be no fire too. His links with Savile, Lord Boothby etc are damning imo. All the rumours about him at Elm Tree guest house too. When he finally kicks the bucket I think more will come out. Possibly people will come forward too. If he's guilty he will get away with it because he has friends in very high places.

UK rock icon Cliff Richard awarded $273K after winning BBC privacy case
LONDON — British rock icon Cliff Richard was awarded $273,000 in damages Wednesday after winning a privacy lawsuit against the BBC for its coverage of a police raid at his home.
Richard had sued the broadcaster for its coverage of the 2014 raid when police were investigating alleged sex offenses. The coverage included a helicopter that circled the star’s home as authorities conducted a search.
The 77-year-old singer was never arrested or charged with any crime. Police don’t normally identify people suspected of crimes in Britain until they are charged. His lawsuit claims he suffered “profound” damage to his reputation.
The BBC disputed his claims and editors said the coverage was done in good faith.
BBC Director of News Fran Unsworth said the story was accurate, and that the decision will affect every news media organization in Britain. The broadcaster will consider an appeal.

I loved his 80s comeback "We Don't Talk Anymore" - written & produced by Alan Tarney. I bought his album "Wired for Sound" which has a few more Tarney songs, though none as good. He's got a good pop voice - I always assumed he was gay. He also has a duet on the platinum "Xanadu" soundtrack with ONJ - "Suddenly".

Do Americans know who Cliff Richard is? I was born in the UK in 81 and grew up with Cliff as part of pop culture there, but when the family moved to the US in 90, I don't think I ever saw or heard him again. So, I was surprised to glance at his Wiki and see that he's had severl songs chart in the top 40 in the US in the 70s and 80s.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | January 28, 2020 2:03 AM |
I'm aware of him, having lived in Europe in the 80s. He was never that big across the Channel, in continental Europe, but certainly with a high enough profile in the UK that he would be written about in European music magazines of the time. What I recall is, that he was one of those acts shamed for breaking the anti-apartheid cultural embargo and playing regularly at places such as Sun City. The persistent rumour, even in some magazines, was that he went there to escape the UK tabloids and sleep with barely legal guys. What I also remember is that he was super-religious (pretty unusual for a UK pop act in the 80s) which made the whole thing even more lurid.
