Yes r65. Though in his youth he was a very trained musician/singer (and quite a hottie), he eventually was picked up by the likes of Brian De Palma et al, and became a score composer and did a ton of Hollywood films.
I guess they were attracted to the dramatic, violin-swirling style of his music.

Incredible performer, phenomenal life story, song about "leaving your heart buried", enormously poignant to all exiles, made moreso by the fact that she died in exile, ignored by the Castro monarchy.
More talent, more entertainment, more sheer, exhuberant fun in her little finger than Beyonce, Janet Jackson or Madonna combined, but ignored in the US.
A lovely, down-to-Earth, gregarious woman. Sorely missed. But this song and perfomance will live forever.
