tl;dr
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 5, 2014 12:39 PM |
Short version:
Former swimwear model wants to become a serious war correspondent, and uses her sex appeal and courage/bravery/stupidity to achieve a degree of success and recognition.
During her time reporting on the military she develops very sympathetic attitudes towards them (probably fucking a few for good leads) which ultimately presents itself in increasingly right-wing opinions. 60 Minutes - happy to have Rush Limbaugh off their case - eagerly embrace right wing approaches to stories, which pisses off many in CBS (many of whom also can't stand Lara Logan).
After presenting a number of puff pieces, Logan latches onto Benghazi as a story that will get her back focussing on terrorism and allows her to present a right wing account of what happened. She did this by taking as gospel the words of a security officer that any undergraduate journalism student could tell was bogus and thus was sidelined after other news organisations took about 30 seconds to debunk her story, much to the satisfaction of most of the people she has ever worked for.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 5, 2014 12:44 PM |
Contrary to what many believe about her she's not English but South African. She's also half Italian. She had a one night stand with that fugly Aussie reporter Michael Ware. They were both reporting from the ME and either she was horny and grabbed the closest cock next to her or the rest of the crew knew she was a cunt of the highest order.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 5, 2014 12:48 PM |
War reporter is ambitious sociopath.
News at 11.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 5, 2014 1:00 PM |
The article claims that Ware and Logan "had an affair." I've heard for years that it was a booty call/fling/one night stand type of thing. I wonder if the article is whitewashing this hetty hussy's slutty ways? Though the part about catching her in the "heat of the moment" having sex with another man is priceless.....
The author of the article didn't come out and say it directly but many powerful men were beguiled by MS Logan's looks. A hetty guy would do anything for a hot woman even if she was raping his wallet, was a total cunt and didn't have a brain in her head. She was fearless I'll give her that but her looks got her a long way in the business.

by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 5, 2014 1:15 PM |
She was so obnoxious and creepy. In all her interviews, the cameraman would cut from the subject of the interview to long shots of her sitting in her chair, trying to look smoldering and intelligent. Hate the bitch.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 5, 2014 1:19 PM |
R5 pretty much sums it up.
She became a propagandist for the US military and FOX couldn't run fast enough with her bullshit report about "BENGGHHAZI!1!!!1!!"
Dan Rather got fired for less.
Didn't she end up marrying some military contractor? The one who was already married, knocked her up and was the one who fought with Ware over her?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 5, 2014 1:28 PM |
Wasn't she 'raped' in Egypt?
It seems she and her network went quiet about that when people began questioning her story.
Was it ever revealed whether or not she lied or was telling the truth? She got a lot of mileage out of that and it's horrific if so, but I remember the "rape" being challenged as just a lot of shoving her around, etc.
I find her voice irritating to I immediately reach for the remote when the pops up on screen.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 5, 2014 1:30 PM |
But wasn't she raped while on a story? I mean, that's pretty rough.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 5, 2014 2:01 PM |
R14 she probably made that up like all her other "news" stories.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 5, 2014 2:03 PM |
I don't want to sound like Whoopi, but I don't think it was "rape rape." I think she was groped and grabbed and others in the crowd got her out of there. It's still a horrific thing to go through.
It doesn't change the fact that she belongs on FOX with the rest of the lying sacks of shit.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 5, 2014 2:07 PM |
This is the first time I've ever watched her in anything.

by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 5, 2014 2:13 PM |
Not to downplay any kind of sexual assault, but yes, she was groped and crudely touched through her clothing I think. STILL AWFUL.
But given what we know about her, I imagine she was fine with exaggerating it a tad.
Horrible woman.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 5, 2014 2:13 PM |
She said they had ripped all her clothes off (others corroborated this) and were shoving their fingers and hands into her "from the front and the back".
Gawd.

by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 5, 2014 2:15 PM |
The contractor's story about Benghazi seemed so melodramatic and obviously made up. Clearly Lara Logan desperately wanted to believe any fantasist who could make the administration look bad.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 5, 2014 2:22 PM |
If she were a foreign reporter of a darker shade and she was lying about the Bush admin., she would've been deported or in GITMO.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 5, 2014 2:44 PM |
She was a spoiled cunt from the time that she was a young girl. She was blessed with good looks so she rose through the ranks rather easily because of them. She wasn't annoying like that French/British/Iranian Hussy Christiane Amanpour who acted like a know it all. She was annoying because she the gorgeous golden girl who could no wrong. she definitely will end up on Faux News because they prize women on their network who look like high class escorts and porn stars. At this point Lara Logan fits that bill rather perfectly.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 5, 2014 2:52 PM |
She's a fake journalist, playing as if a girl playing 'house'. Not impressed with her, and if I were Bob Simon or Anderson Cooper, I'd be embarrassed to be associated with her amateurish manner.

by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 5, 2014 4:14 PM |
She won't be returning to 60 Minutes. Her days as a serious journalist are over. She will become a propagandist for Faux News, her true calling. We can all have some satisfaction knowing that she will be forever embittered because of this.
This article is exactly what was needed. I was hoping someone would finally print up her dubious and sketchy history.

Thanks R5, that's a great breakdown.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 5, 2014 4:35 PM |
Re: her rape, her colleague backed up the story on her claims that almost all of her clothes were torn off and that Egyptian men finger raped her and fondled here.
Some of the European press attempted to find photos or anyone who would corroborate her story and couldn't find anyone. Instead they found people who said it wasn't true.
Of course, the U.S. media, being the ultra female-leaning institution is is, wouldn't dare look into the story and just let it die, but there is plenty of evidence to suggest she made it up.
Another reason I would trust a French, Dutch or even a reputable British report before I'd trust anything by the U.S. media or press.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 5, 2014 4:43 PM |
Given her history r31, I wouldn't put it past her. They were unable to find anyone else that would back the story up. Claiming something like that is like saying you have cancer. No one can refute it.
So Lara Logan may, or may not, return in the fall season. Either way, the show must go on. Waiting in the wings is a new up-and-comer. Attractive, blonde, fluent in three foreign languages. Everybody is talking about 34-year-old Clarissa Ward. “Jeff’s very high on her,” says a 60 Minutes producer.

Yes, but remember that video of a woman that was wearing pink pants walking through Cairo University (University!) that had this menacing male mob surrounding her. Whatever Logan is, it is quite possible that a woman would be attacked in some way, and this would have been in a crowd that was already angry and she a media and Western person and female and `blonde.`
by Anonymous | reply 36 | May 5, 2014 5:05 PM |
R27, yes...the article states that she was known to say that.
Also, Rush Limbaugh was a fan of her reporting.
She and her current husband were both married to other people when she got pregnant.
She said she wouldn't have had the courage to cover the ME without red wine and Valium.
Would make an interesting bio pic...

Also from nymag:
Logan has spent recent weeks in her house in Washington, D.C., “losing her mind” and “stressing out of her head,” according to one CBS source.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | May 5, 2014 5:36 PM |
I'm only on the third page of the article (haven't read any comments here yet), but what's abundantly clear is that she has sociopathic characteristics. She was so unperturbed by the extreme danger she faced in Afghanistan (the sexual groping incident in Tahir Square actually had a dress rehearsal there) that she recklessly placed herself, colleagues, and support staff in mortal danger.
She reminds me of that neuroscientist someone posted about a few months back -- he had a PET scan that was the same as his experimental groups' which consisted of scans from murderers, criminals, and other sociopaths. He is a successful academician and Logan was a successful "journalist" who used her sexuality and her inability to feel fear, concern or empathy for others to propel herself and her career.
. And Logan often flouted traditional Islamic dress codes: At an Afghan election rally for Hamid Karzai, Logan wore blue jeans and a white T-shirt in the makeshift press cordon, which was surrounded by mobs of men. Her crew became nervous, afraid she was attracting undue attention from the aggressive and all-male crowd. Logan herself seemed oblivious. When Karzai finished his speech and left, most of the security decamped and left Logan and her crew exposed to the crowd’s jeers. According to two people familiar with the incident, Logan’s crew had to surround her and “battle” their way to safety.
Other such incidents followed. After a time, cameramen in the London bureau of CBS News refused to work with her. “The crews in London revolted,” says a CBS executive. “They thought she was dangerous and she was going to get somebody killed.”

For R28 -
Don Hewitt, the founder of 60 Minutes, had told a story of a time when Logan came to him for advice. He recounted that he told her she was not up to 60 Minutes’ standards and needed voice training to get rid of her accent. When she replied that she had been getting training for two years, he said simply, “Then there’s no hope.”
by Anonymous | reply 41 | May 5, 2014 7:35 PM |
I wonder, did any of you read the article? The greatest problem with LL's story on Benghazi, confessed by individuals working in CBS' news division, is that the 60 Minutes team let Logan down.
They didn't vet her sources as they were meant to do. It was a stupid, rushed affair in no way entirely her responsibility but she took the bullet.
I've run into LL in the field. She's no different from any other journalist who has the fever. She wants to be in the thick of it and she wants to distinguish herself by reporting important breaking stories.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | May 5, 2014 9:00 PM |
R41 I think she's a beautiful but annoying cunt BUT lose her accent? She didn't have the gravitas of most of the people on 60 Minutes to begin with so Hewitt was right there. She had to adopt a phony American accent to appease him? He seems to be a cunt as well!

You mean the fever that causes them to go shopping for desert wear rather than actually do their jobs as *journalists* and investigate an administration that planned to lead us into a false war based on lies and cherry-picking info?
The problem with the state of journalism is that the journalists want stories so badly that its veracity takes a backseat.

War correspondents are the biggest drama queens of them all. They're adrenaline junkies. They love to be flying off to this dangerous place and driving over to that dangerous place. They love the sound of shelling and gunfire. They're like compulsive gamblers on steroids. When gamblers lose, they ruin their lives. When war correspondents lies, the lose their lives.
Logan pissed off a lot of people. She told people in war zones who disagreed with her that one call from her would get them fired. She got rid of a trusted security force and replaced them with a group who were chums of her married boyfriend. I was shocked to see her in relatively tight clothes and jeans in Afghanistan with a scarf casually thrown over her hair. You're not supposed to dress sexy in front of the Taliban. It's just common sense. She probably thought the way she was dressed was ok because her tits weren't hanging out.
At any rate, she was acting as an operative, not as a journalist. And CBS was foolish to let her go as far as she did.
The problem with the state of journalism is that the journalists want stories so badly that its veracity takes a backseat
The trouble with journalism is journalists. In today's celebrity culture, they want to be celebrities. It's not about getting the real story, it's about ME getting A story. Any story. Then people will know MY NAME. Like christianne Amanpour, Anderson Cooper, Mick Ware. They want to be known. They want to be the celebrities of war and disaster.
Logan went rushing in to dangerous situations without taking precautions for anyone. She put her team in danger. She went into a crowd of Egyptian men, the people who started The Muslim Brotherhood, with her blonde hair flowing.
You wear a fucking scarf when you wade into a crowd of angry male Muslims. It's a matter of safety. There's no female equality over there; there's no respect for people who are infidels. She waved a red flag in front of a bunch of mindless bulls. It was stupid, not brave. Any woman who has studied the world knows you don't do that. She's a reporter. She should know who she's dealing with and tailored her behavior to the reality of her surroundings.

R34 - i searched for the video and images and didn't see much. I did find this - an account of another journalist who was there and said that he didn't see her naked or raped - pushed and shoved yes, but nothing insane as to what had been reported.
I have to think she lied. I hate to say it - but some of the other stuff doesn't add up. Like jumping back on TV not too shortly after.

[italic]That[/italic] remark made a statement of Lara Logan: She has [italic]never[/italic] been a journalist.
To call her a [italic]war correspondent[/italic] is a false assessment, because what Lara Logan represents is military public relations.
The fact that Lara Logan has had employment in any "news" environment - let alone CBS - says plenty about the sad status of today's news organizations. That they, just like Lara Logan, cannot (and should not) be trusted.
