Did they ever know?
Do people in America know who Patsy Kensit is?
by Anonymous | reply 67 | June 15, 2019 9:32 AM |
She played Mia Farrow, that is how America knows her.
Has she weighed in with her opinion?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 5, 2014 11:53 PM |
[quote]Has she weighed in with her opinion?
No...lol.
There's been a bit of a scandal here in England about her, when she appeared on TV slurring her words, when she was promoting her book....
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 5, 2014 11:56 PM |
no, they don't know her
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 5, 2014 11:56 PM |
[quote]no, they don't know her
Are you sure? She was in Lethal Weapon 2.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 6, 2014 12:02 AM |
Was she once married to the lead singer of Simple Minds?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 6, 2014 12:23 AM |
She did some films back in the eighties. I remember "Absolute Beginners", it was pretty good.
Who are you, OP? Patsy Kensit?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 6, 2014 12:25 AM |
All I know of her is the dodgy South African accent in Lethal Weapon and the fact she was married to a Gallagher.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 6, 2014 12:26 AM |
The only knowledge I have of Patsy Kensit is her role in one of the Lethal Weapons movies with Mel Gibson.
She played an employee of the South African consulate in LA & ended up in a brief affair with Gibson's character. She got iced in the movie, for passing secrets to Gibson.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 6, 2014 12:27 AM |
Does anybody really know who she is?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 6, 2014 12:29 AM |
Of course the US does: US movie career started in big US movie; then started f*cking & divorcing in order to help her career; got a sh*tty boob job; and got super fat.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 6, 2014 12:35 AM |
[quote] I remember "Absolute Beginners", it was pretty good.
It was fucking awful, but it apparently now has a cult following with Brooklyn hipsters.
Are you a Brooklyn Hipster, R6?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 6, 2014 12:35 AM |
To keep this thread topical and give it some weight, while it continues to heat up....
Patsy played Mia's little girl in The Great Gatsby.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 6, 2014 12:44 AM |
R12 she played Mia Farrow
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 6, 2014 12:47 AM |
She was the lead child actress in the craptastic George Cukor US/USSR film "The Blue Bird" with Elizabeth Taylor, Cicely Tyson, Ava Gardner and James Coco.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 6, 2014 12:54 AM |
What about "Angels and Insects" - seems like a DL-type of movie.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 6, 2014 1:12 AM |
Married 4 times by her early 40s. I'll never understand why some people do these serial marriage/divorces.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 6, 2014 1:16 AM |
Have her agent send a headshot.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 6, 2014 1:21 AM |
R15, wow, what a blast from the past! I'd forgotten that song but now hearing it after 25 years I remember it and that I liked it a lot. But then again I'm European.
And like I remembered the song was written and produced by Pet Shop Boys.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 6, 2014 1:30 AM |
Yes, I used to get Smash Hits magazine in the 80s and knew she was in a group called Eighth Wonder. Apart from that I knew she fucked and married several other musicians. Can't say I've ever actually heard her music or watched her films.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 6, 2014 1:32 AM |
gosh she was gorgeous in the 80s. Absolute beginners was how I came to know of her and that pop band with her brother that I can't remember the name of.
Married to: Jim Kerr Simple Minds & Liam Gallagher of Oasis & someone else I can;t recall.
Angels & Insects was Bizarre but compelling.
Getting old sucks
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 6, 2014 1:36 AM |
Didn't she have that hit song "Crazy" and die in a plane crash? I think the lady from that American Horror show played her in the movie.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 6, 2014 1:38 AM |
I know she was married to Dan Donovan from Big Audio Dynamite.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 6, 2014 1:40 AM |
Jim Kerr was cute when he was young
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 6, 2014 4:00 AM |
This was the first time I ever heard of her. I was in junior high and the girls I knew were still doing the big hair thing. I thought she was super cool.
This was from some special on cable--concert in Europe. It also featured acts my little sheltered self had never seen before--Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode and others I wish I could remember. It started me on my path of being the "weird" kid who listened to alternative music while everyone else was into Top 40 crap and wearing vintage clothes instead of the preppy shit.
She wasn't very talented, but in this clip, she is absolutely stunning.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 6, 2014 4:18 AM |
I've know who she is ever since the Lethal Weapon 2 movie, but I remember her in a movie about werewolves, where she had a hot sex scene with Mario Van Peebles (I was watching him, not her).
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 6, 2014 4:33 AM |
PATSY WHO?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 6, 2014 4:49 AM |
I know her only from the movie Kill Cruise with Liz Hurley. Lovely ladies, bleak movie that I saw on HBO or Encore like 20 years ago as a teenager.
She is dreadfully slurry and plastic-surgeried in that This Morning interview. Couldn't get through it. Yikes.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 6, 2014 4:50 AM |
she's fantastic for all the reasons above. The video of her on that morning talk show was fine. She didn't seem out of it at all.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 6, 2014 10:57 AM |
I thought I did but I was mixing her up with Greta Scacchi.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 6, 2014 11:26 AM |
Jim Kerr has a lovely accent.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 6, 2014 11:29 AM |
R34 I was going to say that she resembled Scacchi. I like her in GRACE OF MY HEART and ANGELS & INSECTS is an interesting, beautiful film. She's been kicking around forever.
Not only did she play Mia Farrow but she also played Mia's daughter in THE GREAT GATSBY.

For your nostalgic pleasure, the whole film's on youtube (@ link).
She's says in her new autobiog' which I highly recommend (though I would have liked some more deeply personal dirt, I mean four marriages et al) that when she was making the film she and Liz demanded a better location hotel than they'd been given, which they got. From then on whenever the crew saw them walking in the town (they were filming in Crete) they'd say 'Here come the two bitches'...so they could hear. Made me laugh a lot for some reason.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 6, 2014 11:43 AM |
Grace of my Heart and Four Rooms, right? If that's her, then it's a yes from me.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 6, 2014 11:46 AM |
No mention of her turn as Cynthia Weil in GRACE OF MY HEART?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 6, 2014 11:48 AM |
[What about "Angels and Insects" - seems like a DL-type of movie.]
Oh, yes! I read the book after I saw the movie. I recommend both.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 6, 2014 12:02 PM |
Actually, surprisingly, the film Love & Betrayal: The Mia Farrow Story was pretty good and Patsy carried it off.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 6, 2014 12:08 PM |
No one has mentioned her utter lack of talent yet? Her vacuousness? The fact that even the brainless Liam Gallagher called her "pretty vacant"?
I realized The Pet Shop Boys were gay when, in 1986, they described Kensit as "the best-looking person we've ever met." No straight man would ever use such gender-neutral language describing a beautiful woman.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 6, 2014 12:16 PM |
I HOPE you guys know Jim Kerr. He's lovely, one of those who's oblivious to how funny and approachable he is. His accent's great too, I could listen to him ramble on all day. I think he always got unfair criticism for his outlook on life---I think he has true conviction in what he says, even if it seems idealistic or naive. Liam Gallagher IS hilarious, and I guess his swagger/not giving a shit is attractive, but I would imagine it's easier to be around someone like Jim, who's quiet, thoughtful and doesn't act with the intention of causing a stir. Patsy's love life is an eternal mystery.
Jim's recent work isn't half bad, it's at the end of the interview below:
"Was there any competition between you and Bono?" "Well, he was good at walking on water, I could make five fish seem like a lot more...."
by Anonymous | reply 42 | July 15, 2014 9:58 AM |
R42 Jim's also famously well hung. I remember Julie Burchill's quote - "How does Jim Kerr get his cock to be seven inches? Fold it in half"
by Anonymous | reply 43 | July 15, 2014 6:08 PM |
R8 Just saw this on the Lethal Weapon 2 IMDB Trivia page -
Patsy Kensit described her sex scene with Mel Gibson as having been very uncomfortable to act out. She stated that the reason was that she and Gibson were both married and both Catholics.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | July 15, 2014 6:13 PM |
Will they ever know.....will they ever care.....
by Anonymous | reply 45 | July 15, 2014 7:45 PM |
Of course we know who she is. She's the woman who went to her grave denying she killed Jon-Benet.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 15, 2014 7:55 PM |
Will she have a Joan Collins type comeback? They're of a similar talent level.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | July 15, 2014 7:55 PM |
I also saw her on French and Saunders.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | July 15, 2014 9:28 PM |
The Sharon Tate of her day and age.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | July 15, 2014 9:32 PM |
Fanning myself at R43's post. I never knew!
by Anonymous | reply 50 | July 15, 2014 9:37 PM |
Patsy is lovely but seems to have no self-confidence. Her career seems to have imploded, but she was marvellous on our Strictly Come Dancing, after those movie roles. She was in Cukor's disaster The Bluebird with Taylor, Ava etc. and in the Mia Farrow Great Gatsby, and was in tv commercials when aged 4. She sang with the Pet Shop Boys as Eight Avenue's "I'm not scared".
Perhaps all her marriages have made her a little screwy. She has been doing tv soaps like Emmerdale and Casualty here recently. Lets hope she gets her act together and become fabulous again, when one sees all those talentless bitches like Cheryl Cole back in the limelight.

[post redacted because linking to dailymail.co.uk clearly indicates that the poster is either a troll or an idiot (probably both, honestly.) Our advice is that you just ignore this poster but whatever you do, don't click on any link to this putrid rag.]
by Anonymous | reply 52 | July 15, 2014 9:48 PM |
It wouldn't be surprising if she doesn't have much self confidence. She's been deemed talentless for most of her career.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | July 15, 2014 9:52 PM |
99.9% of America has never heard of Patsy Kensit.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | July 15, 2014 9:57 PM |
And the other 0.01% wishes they hadn't.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | July 15, 2014 10:04 PM |
She is well known in the UK where she lives and works, I don't imagine she is trying to crack America at this stage of her career.
Perhaps her gangster father and her mother dying young and then being a child actress and small time movie star and wife to all those rock stars have left her with problems, but she seems to be coping and bringing up her own children.
Maybe she should get the breaks Amanda Holden did and become a judge on talent shows, but I imagine she is too nice to be nasty to people.
Kylie Minogue is another Patsy type but with better luck.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | July 15, 2014 10:17 PM |
She seems to have completely disappeared off the radar - or am I wrong?
by Anonymous | reply 57 | July 17, 2017 10:25 AM |
Patsy was in a film called '21' in the early '90s that I was obsessed with, it was actually a terrific vehicle for her and starred a very young and handsome Rufus Sewell as her junkie boyfriend. I hesitate to watch it 20 years later, but at the time I thought the film and she were both terrific.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | July 17, 2017 10:35 AM |
She reminds me of Naomi Watts.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | July 17, 2017 10:45 AM |
Who?

I was going to say - Good Luck! finding a copy, but it's on YT.
Be quick, it won't be on there for long.

She was a huge pop star in Italy in the 1980s. She was on TV and the gossip magazines constantly.
She was stunningly beautiful, she couldn't really sing, but the tunes were catchy.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | July 17, 2017 11:32 AM |
Bono was having an affair with her for years including while she was married to Liam. Seem to remember a story that Jim Kerr walked in on them. A UK journalist supposedly caught them out at a hotel too. That was late 90s
by Anonymous | reply 63 | July 17, 2017 11:41 AM |
Any updates on Patsy's career or more marriages since this thread was started?
It seems the last time she was married was to this guy in 2010 and just for a year. She really picks 'em!
