OP, I wasn't too taken with the chocolate bark. Bissinger's from St. Louis has been sending Bacall a box of that bark every Christmas since she did a radio commercial for them when she was in town in APPLAUSE.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | January 22, 2014 5:41 PM |
It didn't have Flavah?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | January 22, 2014 8:22 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 22, 2014 8:23 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 22, 2014 8:42 PM |

For cheap local candy - See's all day long.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 22, 2014 11:54 PM |
I am sitting here crying from laughing so hard at the one-two punch of "FUCK YOU LAUREN BACALL!" and "It didn't have Flavah?"
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 23, 2014 12:04 AM |
See's? Please.
The OP obviously has had her tongue in a place that has killed her taste.
Bissinger's = The Best.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 23, 2014 12:16 AM |
R9, you must be new here.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 23, 2014 12:22 AM |
Price wise, Bissingers is on par with Sees, bitch. R10. hence my comparison.
I would eat Sees any day over this overpriced shit.
And I have tried every artisan chocolate under the son- John and Kira's, Maison, Richart, some are excellent.
But Bissingers is overpriced when you can have Sees!
Another overpriced crock of shit is Charbonelle et Walker. The queen's favorite!
That old bat can go fuck herself right in the ass too!!
But back to Lauren!

OP- Have you tried Christopher Elbow's chocolates?? He is a local but has a mail order company. The pieces are very pretty, very expensive but strange combinations.... give me a box of See's any old day.
The story goes that Bacall was doing a radio interview when APPLAUSE was in a one week engagement at the St. Louis Muny. Back in the 70's, Broadway shows would shut down for a week and play the outdoor theatre. These included SEESAW,IRENE with Debbie Reynolds, OVER HERE! and pre-Broadway tours like Carol Channing in LORELEI, MACK & MABEL, GIGI and GYPSY with Angela Lansbury. FOLLIES also played a week at the Muny. The show had closed but was on it's way to Los Angeles to open the new Shubert Theatre. Back to Bacall, while doing the interview, the announcer asked if she would do a quick spot of rthe candy company.. this was in her profile in Vanity Fair a few years back. She has been sent a box of their chocolate bark every year at Christmas.

This thread has made me remember that I have a couple of See's gift cards in my wallet. Thank you, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 23, 2014 4:00 PM |
But you can't get a WINTAH TULIP TUMBLAH in a box of candy!
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 23, 2014 4:11 PM |
Your welcome #26!
You can use them at any See's Shoppe or on the interwebs!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | January 23, 2014 4:13 PM |
Panache, another local chocolate shop has some wonderful milk chocolate covered popcorn. They also have dark but the milk is the best. I am no ttalking aobut a drizzle... sheets of chocolate broken up on popcorn. It's heaven!
by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 23, 2014 4:32 PM |
27, That was quit a nice glass! Would someone fill it with melted caramel, dig me up, and bury me with it?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 23, 2014 5:53 PM |
LOL R27! As IF Bacall would ever have collected those 99 cent tumblers for her bar or pantry at the Dakota.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 23, 2014 5:54 PM |
Mary See thinks those tumblers are a DELIGHT.
Fuck that raspy voiced cunt right in the ass. And her shitty taste in mongloid chocolates from Cleveland or where ever the fuck.
Don't fuck with Los Angeles!
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 23, 2014 6:32 PM |
Damn you OP, now I have to buy some candy.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 23, 2014 8:20 PM |
If you order See's by mail, the best time is during the winter. Summer rates are $$$ due to the need for cold packs for mailing. They do have nice catalogues.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 23, 2014 8:25 PM |
Bissinger's is out of St. Louis.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 23, 2014 8:26 PM |
St Louis! I would have suspected St Louis!!!
by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 23, 2014 8:30 PM |
I know that late actress Jill Haworth loved See's. When she lived with Sal Mineo, before he came out gay, Jill would buy See's for their beach house in CA. Mineo avoided eating it but not Jill. I sent Jill some Christopher Elbow chocolates for Christmas one year. I wish I had known she preferred See's. Found out that she loved See's Toffee-ets that come in that round can.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | January 23, 2014 8:40 PM |
I will google her KCGUY.
I am a fan of any gal who loves See's Candy. Or candy, period.
With the exception of Bissinga's.
They can go get fucked.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | January 24, 2014 4:45 PM |
I'm gonna have some Fran's Sea Salt Caramels tonight!
by Anonymous | reply 40 | January 24, 2014 6:19 PM |
I'm having some Godiva Chocolate cheesecake (only a few bites and save the rest) after the symphony tonight..... that is the only reason to go to Cheesecake Factory, late at night for dessert after a concert or the theatre.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | January 24, 2014 8:37 PM |
A friend brought me some Ethel M's dark chocolate sea salt caramels beck from Vegas as a thank you for feeding her cats.
To die for!

Mass market Lindt, bought fresh as possible, tastes better than most boutique chocolate.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | November 19, 2017 3:58 PM |
Lindt is far from the best tasting brand here in Europe. America has horrible chocolate.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | November 19, 2017 4:30 PM |
Bissinger's and See's both buy the chocolates in bulk from Russel Stover and just repackage. Everyone knows this.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | November 19, 2017 4:32 PM |
R46 By "everyone" I gather you mean "just you."

A local brand that I love. They have their own store, although they're also sold in my local Kroger. I've actually toured their factory. A very nice local business.
