WTF? Swinging Richards Miami is moving to Pompano Beach

Pompano is GHETTO, there will be lots of drug dealers and their male prostitutes frequenting the establishment!

I wonder if North Miami Beach is giving them the boot. The current location is doing well, it is packed to capacity most nights and its in a good location.

30 miles north of Miami/Miami Beach! They'll be losing all that tourist trade. The dancers probably won't want to drive up there either.

I thought Miami as a gay tourist destination was over and Ft Lauderdale was the new spot. Pompano is closer to Ft Lauderdale than Miami.

Gay people go to Ft Lauderdale to retire, not to vacation.

Dade county is shit. Broward is barely better. They should move it to Key West.

It's really difficult and expensive to get to Key West. They wouldn't have nearly the crowds or caliber of men.

Does anyone know what the rules about nudity are in that area? I remember years ago that there was full nudity at a club in N. Miami Beach, but at the one in Ft. Lauderdale-- no. But then again there was another one in West Palm Beach (I think -- Cupid's Cabaret?) that did have full nudity.

I'm guessing they are still getting harassed in Miami.

Pompano has a bunch of all nude breeder strip clubs, so it's probably easier to do business there.

Definitely they are going to lose Miami business, but on weekends they sponsor shuttles from the local bars in Fort Lauderdale, so they may start doing that in Miami as well. The new location is just a warehouse district, so it sounds like cheap rent and lots of space.

Cupids! The best on Earth. West Palm finally ran them out of town. My favorite gay strip club on Earth. Just the right mix of "class" and sleaze.

Most of the gay $$$ is in Fort Lauderdale so it makes sense to move the club nearby. What the move would do to the Fort Lauderdale gay bars that only allow guys in their tighty whites is anyone's guess.

Has anyone been to the new location yet? How does it compare to the old?

The new location is AMZING. Trust I was not happy about the move being that I lived walking distance to the one in North Miami, but having gone last weekend it is definitely a step up. Only down side is that right now it closes at 2am. They are applying for an extension till 4am. That will be much better.

Pompano Beach is lovely. the lighthouse is there and Project Runway diva Kenley Collins grew up there. We're there every New year. The next exit on I-95 South after Pompano Beach (Atlantic Ave) is Ft. Lauderdale.

Yes the new location is amazing the boys are better looking because they actually have people who speak English they're hotter boys better location and its closer to my house and most of the gay people that have the money live in Palm Beach and Boca in Coral Springs anyway Miami wasn't making a lot of money cause there's cheap people from Miami Beach who don't want to pay besides Miami Beach is too many old people that a retired you can see them walking around during the day Miami is over

I thought R7 was being ironic saying "Right now, it's a high-class place" but the rest of the reply negated that. She probably thinks Olive Garden is "high-class." High-class and Florida are two words that are diametrically opposed to each other. Maybe the mob just wants to consolidate their strip clubs, gay and straight, in one place.

I'm at the age where I am looking for a place to retire/winter in Florida. Ft Lauderdale? Miami? Tampa? Thoughts?

While I'm not sure how I'd have rated the "new" Swinging Richards had I not been a fan of their former location in Aventura (I gave the old place a solid 5 stars), I'm definitely not as impressed with this new location as I was with the original spot.

As others have mentioned, this place is bigger, but at the same time, everything is seemingly more $$. Just to park and walk in the place you're out $25. The admission price at their old location was more in line with entry fees to most every other gentleman's club in S. Florida. Mixed drinks now come in much smaller glasses vs. the serving size at their former location. Also, gone from their "services" menu are the table dances the other location offered. Prices start at $25 for a "friction dance". Private rooms with a model/dancer start at something like $125 for 15 minutes and rates go up exponentially from there.

Once inside, this club is quite large. There's only 1 long, rectangular stage in the new place, but it takes up the entire middle portion of this building and has 2 brass stripper poles mounted on it. There are well-stocked bars at each end of the room and a third bar up in one of the seating areas. There are plenty of places to stand and get a good view of the stage, they've got tables and seats along the sides of the stage (though not nearly as many as they should have), and a few tiers of booth seating further back as well.

I read another review that claimed the models/dancers weren't as good here and that they didn't offer as much variety as their former location. I'd tend to disagree. IMO, this place has exactly what the other location offered; Different body types, ethnicities and styles to suit nearly anyone's tastes. On the night we were here, they had a set of identical twins dancing; they of course worked right next to each other and were dressed exactly the same (one had a tattoo so one could tell them apart if you wanted to). If you're a 'size queen', you'll love this place, as even most of the smaller framed dancers had impressively sized, um, richards. They usually had at least 5 dancers on stage at any given time, doing 3 songs each...starting out with no shirt and wearing jeans, shorts or workout pants, peeling layers off while dancing and going fully nude during the 3rd song.

While Swinging Richards will most likely be successful here in their new location, especially since it's so close to Pompano Beach, Wilton Manors and Ft. Lauderdale, I do miss many things about their old location. It was more central to both Miami and Lauderdale. Also, it had 2 stages and a bar-mounted dance pole, where this place is one big open building with 1 large stage in the center. This new location also isn't as intimate as the old place, and at times you don't get the chance to greet and chat with the models/dancers you'd like to meet due to the size of this club and the amount of people packed in here. It also really lacks the fun and lively atmosphere that the old place had. I think it's in part due to the lack of seating near the stage. Most patrons are seated back in the booths, at the bars or standing away from the stage just watching the "show", rather than being close to the action and tipping.

I used to live close to the old SR location in Aventura, the parking lot was full every single weekend it was open. Of course North Miami Beach wanted them out so they gave them a hard time, and they decided to move to Pompano. Now old location is Black Diamonds, a mini version of the legendary Kind of Diamonds. It never looks as busy as Swinging Richards was, because why go to a mini KOD when the real KOD is just 20 minutes away?

I've been to both places, and I liked the new location as much as the old one to be honest. And had a great time at both locations.

There was construction around the new location when I went in May that made it difficult to get to... and it was out in the middle of nowhere, unlike the old location, which was on a busy street, across from a shopping center and restaurants.

But it was very busy at the new location, so I can't believe that they closed due to lack of business. Lots of great models and porn stars there too.

So I'd really like to know why they closed. There HAS to be some story or drama there.

I'm going to miss it. It made going to Florida special in a way (something you can't get anywhere else).

Has anyone been to both the Atlanta and Ft Lauderdale or Miami locations recently? Can you compare and contrast?

Is this place still open? What about the one in Atlanta?
