I've only seen her in Orange is the New Black (which I loved until the last episodes of the season which took a nosedive). I love the entire cast of the show. Schilling was perfectly cast and her comic timing is exceptional. I'd criticize the Streep comparison, OP, but it also occurred to me based on her personality and look; it's going to take an extensive range and body of work for someone to truly convince me she has a Streep thing going on though, and Schilling has yet to have a chance to deliver anything like that.

I think she's wonderful on OINTB. I grew up in CT and she is so spot-on as a moneyed, entitled CT princess.

I think she snagged a role with rare range and made the absolute most of it. She does ugly and beautiful, feminine and butch, comedy and intense drama, and all equally well. I really think she's someone to watch. (I don't know that she'll ever find a co-star with whom she has more chemistry than Laura Prepon, though!)

Acting talent is not innate. It's about the training, the classes, the ability to learn the nuances of different mediums (film vs. stage), and the preparation/work that an actress does. (On this note, I watched an indie movie last night and thought the acting was terrible...then realized i was watching a bunch of probably talented stage actors who had lots of experience in comedies but didn't learn acting for camera--or didn't have director's guidance to pull back their performances and facial expressions--their faces were acting for an audience 50 feet away when the camera was 2 feet from their face).

Streep will spend up to six months training for a feature role. That's how she nails accents and skills (like learning to play the violin).
