Or "Joe"? He was "Joey" or "Joe" in Gimme a Break, Blossom, Brotherly Love and he's currently "Joey" in that new sitcom with Melissa Joan Hart.
Tony Danza was another one who always played "Tony". What gives?

At a guess, neither of them could be trained to answer to another name.

That shitcom with MJH sucks.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | May 30, 2013 3:13 AM |
r1 nailed it. Thread closed. Btw. wasn't Mary Tyler Moore always a "Mary"?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 30, 2013 3:24 AM |
Didn't OP play Opie on Mayberry too?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 30, 2013 3:26 AM |
Tony looks like a Tony; and Joey looks like a Joey.

[quote]wasn't Mary Tyler Moore always a "Mary"?
Yes, in the sense that she was never a Rhoda, but no - she was Laura on Dick Van Dyke and she was Miss Dorothy in THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 30, 2013 3:32 AM |
Gimme a Break! I loved Nell! Remember when Joey shot her in the foot because she wouldn't shut up?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 30, 2013 3:42 AM |
He is not smart enough to remember being called another name whilst making a sitcom?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | May 30, 2013 5:01 AM |
Lucy was always a Lucy.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 30, 2013 5:03 AM |
Woah!
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 30, 2013 6:18 AM |
OP = Jomophobe.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 30, 2013 6:06 PM |
It's not HIS fault that he's always cast in parts named Joe or Joey. Surely an actor with such range will be cast as Hamlet any day now.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 30, 2013 6:13 PM |
Who cares, with an ass like that the man can do no wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 30, 2013 7:49 PM |
Wished they showed repeats of Gimme a Break.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 30, 2013 7:56 PM |
Rose: If Lucy plays Lucy why does Desi play Ricky.
Blanche: He was too tall for the part, Rose.

"At a guess, neither of them could be trained to answer to another name."
Even I have thought it would be simpler to just change my name to Joey.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 30, 2013 8:02 PM |
I want to know why he's sporting an astroturf toupée at such a young age -- it's like a brown version of what John Travolta tries to pass off as his "hair."
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 30, 2013 8:39 PM |
Does he like blue too?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 30, 2013 11:21 PM |
He has aged so oddly.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 30, 2013 11:24 PM |
Sorry to de-rail the thread, but...where does the Joey Luft "I like blue" quote come from? I've been posting here for over a decade and I've noticed it popping up in threads quite a bit recently and am curious.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 30, 2013 11:48 PM |
R19 I think he had work done on his face too young and it ruined his looks.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 30, 2013 11:59 PM |
Because he can, lucky bastard.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 31, 2013 12:06 AM |
'Who cares, with an ass like that the man can do no wrong."
An ass like what?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 31, 2013 3:47 AM |
Uggh, R15. If you can't quote correctly, don't quote at all.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 31, 2013 4:02 AM |
[quote]Sorry to de-rail the thread, but...where does the Joey Luft "I like blue" quote come from?
People assume Joey Luft has Fetal Alcohol Syndrome or some other cognitive disability based on his mother's alcohol and drug use during her pregnancy with him. "I like blue!" is a shorthand reference to him being a feeble-minded recluse who spends his days making arts and crafts in Lorna's breakfast nook.

They do. On cable's TV ONE on Friday nights. I just watched two episodes.
As for Joey's butt and bod, I much preferred him during "Brotherly Love", where he was still muscular but meatier and had a fatter ass.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | June 1, 2013 1:53 AM |
What is with his damn hair. It looks so fucking ridiculous, like it's painted on or something!
Every time I'm channel surfing and come across his stupid show, I burst out laughing.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | June 28, 2013 4:20 AM |
the question is.... why do they keep running episodes of this stupid ass 2010 show?
I'd rather watch reruns of Reba....
Barbara Jean and Van are hilarious and the ex husband is quite nice to look at.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 29, 2013 1:57 AM |
R28, that's because they aren't re-runs. Joey and Melissa is still on the air.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 29, 2013 2:02 AM |
Joey Lawrence had previously said in a interview that he's not comfortable being addressed by another name. It offsets his performance as a professional actor.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 29, 2013 2:03 AM |
Wow, that's a lame excuse. It's so cornball to play yourself in every role (Tony Danza, I'm looking at you too...)
by Anonymous | reply 31 | June 29, 2013 2:06 AM |
[quote]What is with his damn hair. It looks so fucking ridiculous, like it's painted on or something!
He looks very metrosexual, especially with his tweezed eyebrows and shaved body. He's not sexy at all.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | June 29, 2013 2:06 AM |
It looks like Joey colors his hair, then shaves it off. Very weird bald head, like artificial.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | June 29, 2013 2:08 AM |
I agree with you all. I was watching Melissa and Joey the other night and remarked that his hair looked like the painted-on hair of one of those little toy men I used to play with as a kid. I don't know why he doesn't just grow his own hair out. It's so thick and voluminous. And his body is another thing. I'm heartbroken whenever he wears tight pants on the show, because his one-time bubble butt is now just a memory. I think he's worked himself out so much that his butt just vanished.

Get the DVD box set from Canada. The syndicated versions MCA TV prepared when the show first went into reruns were so poorly edited I couldn't believe it. Without having even seen the network broadcasts I could tell stuff was cut.

Vivian Vance hated being called "Ethel" all the time so when she costarred with Lucille Ball on "The Lucy Show" They made her characters name "Viv"
by Anonymous | reply 38 | January 12, 2015 3:42 AM |
I bet he's hung. I remember dancing to that song of his in the 90's.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | January 12, 2015 3:55 AM |
Oh, brother.....
by Anonymous | reply 40 | January 12, 2015 4:04 AM |
His lips look odd @R36, as if he's had a stroke or something. Bad Botox job?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | January 12, 2015 4:06 AM |
His brother Matthew did a nude scene on Melissa and Joey!
by Anonymous | reply 42 | January 12, 2015 4:09 AM |
R43: Wow to the nth degree.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | January 12, 2015 4:20 AM |
I saw him with his two brothers, walking on 5th Ave. NYC.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | January 12, 2015 4:30 AM |
His face is so fucking odd - especially in those pics with the bad honey blond dye job. He looks like a drag king from the neck up.
What his relationship situation? An fb of mine swore that Joey cruised him at a theatre show in LA about a decade ago.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | January 12, 2015 4:34 AM |
Picture of yourself, please R46 so we can make fun of you.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | January 12, 2015 4:37 AM |
How do you pronounce Joey? I've always pronounced it Joe-Wee.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | January 12, 2015 5:38 AM |
Joey takes too much care of his eyebrows. His brother is still hot, though.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | January 12, 2015 5:41 AM |
I would mortgage my house to see Joey and Matthew Lawrence spit-roasting Nick Robinson.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | January 12, 2015 5:48 AM |
whoa
by Anonymous | reply 52 | January 12, 2015 6:30 AM |
Remember when Joey didn't want to bang Six.
I mean come on now.
The only reason anyone watched Blossom was to look at Joey Lawrence's ass or Jenna von Oy's ass.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | January 12, 2015 2:16 PM |
Is Joey a shorty? That 12 year old is taller than him.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | January 12, 2015 2:55 PM |
He's 5'8" 155 according to "Celebrity Sizes" (whatever that is)
by Anonymous | reply 55 | January 12, 2015 9:08 PM |
Do any of you remember a show he did with his brothers called Brotherly Love? What did you think of Joey in that?
by Anonymous | reply 56 | January 13, 2015 3:56 AM |
too dumb to remember another characters name?
by Anonymous | reply 57 | January 13, 2015 12:36 PM |
He is playing a rabbi in his latest series called Jewey Lawrensteen
by Anonymous | reply 58 | January 22, 2018 5:22 PM |
He also did several commercials as a kid and teenager and his name was always Joey in them.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | January 22, 2018 5:27 PM |
Sad about his butt. His pecs are still great though.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | January 22, 2018 6:40 PM |
