Victoria Rowell
Based on her latest SOD interview, her medical team has apparently found the right combo of meds to settle her crazy ass down.
Or maybe she's got enough outside gigs going on finally (a new book, primetime gigs, etc) to make her care less about that show.
The best part is her description of her audition for Tyler Perry. You know that he was all "Gurl, you cray cray. Keep giving them hell. Now why don't you audition with that scene where Drusilla goes over the cliff ?"

She was one of the best parts of Y&R. It hasn't been the same since she left. I'd rather have Dru on than Victor.
I don't get the primacy of Victor. That they continue to let the show revolve around him is one of the most egregious instances of "We do it this way because we've always done it this way" in TV history.
And it's not even true, really. They haven't "*always* done it this way." The Newmans and the Abbots were both new characters at one time. There's no reason they can't be replaced now, when the show so sorely needs something new.
And JFP, I'd've thought would be just the EP to do it. Instead, we have a brand new penthouse for Victor. He ain't goin' nowhere.

The entire cast thinks she's beyond batshit crazy. The biracial chick who plays her daugther threatened to quick after hearing rumors that JFP wanted to bring Vicki back. Scieno Stafford, Bergman, and Melody Scott, who have a lot of pull, hates the bitch's guts and would quit en masse if Vicki came back. She's insane.

by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 31, 2013 11:11 PM

On another board someone suggested that Y&R needs to fire all the newbies and hire a full-time mediator to keep the cast from each other's throats. This was at the end of the horrid MAB era, when the news that Stafford got the actor who plays (played) Murphy cut down to bi-monthly appearances, if that, because he left Scientology. And then there's the fact that Bergman and Braeden don't really like each other, and Scott and Braeden don't like each other, and on and on.

Jeanne Cooper and Melody Thomas Scott barely speak either. Lots of hard feelings on Cooper's part when Scott used to let one and all know that she queen of the manor when her husband was producing the show.
Stafford is apparently angry that she's been backburnered. When asked about this in a joint interview, Josh Griffith and JFP stumbled over each other trying offer good spin. JFP said that they have a wonderful story ahead that will have Phyllis driving story, while Griffith essentially said that she has good story now with Jack.
And there's that arrogant prick Michael Muhney who loathes Braeden (the feeling is mutual) and cut a bitch via twitter when old lady Cooper made some negative comments recently about the new young cast members.

Who the FUCK is Stafford..the new show-runner? Despite the fact that Phyllis drugged/killed the geek doctor and buried him with reformed perv Kevin, neither character has gotten their come-uppance yet. The show absolutely sucks shit now. They need to marry off Phyllis to Nick and send them both into the sunset or to "TB&TB". Avery does nothing and Fen needs to shit or get off the pot--in other words REALLY show you are the son of Michael circa 1992 and ramp up the crazy. Lilly, her new beau, Cain and Chelsea are doing *nothing*. The show needs to be purged off dormant characters and replaced with new blood
It's sad and shocking that even "TB&B" is getting better than this. They seem to getting off the Liam/hope/Steffi fickery and going with the new and interesting Rick/Caroline/Maya triangle. Caroline has been a really NASTY bitch at poor Maya since the found out. I hope TPTB won't shy away at teh obvious class *and* racial conflicts at the core of this. Dayzee seems to becoming a rather mercenary bitch herself. Let's hope the writers actually "go there' and deal with race as easily as "Days" has dealt with sexuality.

r17, in an interview last week, Granny Cooper essentially said that the young actors lack training and come to the set unprepared. She apparently got a lot of flack for that. Muhney went on twitter the next day saying something to the effect that all the young actors are terrific and that "certain people" (obviously referring to the old broad) should keep their mouths shut. It must be holy hell going to work there. I don't think there's ever been such a cast with such internal loathing and obvious cliques.

That was after Muhney got into a fight with Eric Braeden on Twitter, too.
He has a point there, though. I don't understand Braeden's popularity. He's one of the worst actors who ever lived (almost as bad as Ronn Moss) and he's as ugly as a cat's pinched ass.
And yet everyone seems to think he "is" Y&R.

Michael Muhney stands out because he won't take their shit and has no problem calling the big troublemakers out. YR has a specific way of doing their in show Emmy nominations. If you are outside of the popular kid clique, you won't even be considered. He blew the process wide open and people didn't speak to him.

There was a great twitter war last year between Muhney/Braeden/Case when Sharon and Victor were paired. Case hated the pairing and hated working with Braeden. She went on twitter trashing the coupling. Braeden went on the defensive and tweeted that she was being unprofessional. Then Muhney, who is BFF's with Case, began tweeting negative stuff about Braeden, essentially saying he should just keep his mouth shut and show some respect. Then a few months later, Morrow got into hot water when he publicly stated he prefers working with Stafford over Case and that he hopes they never re-pair Nick and Sharon. What a set!

Whether they like it or not, the return of Victoria Rowell as Drucilla Winters would be a serious ratings hike. JFP is certainly capable of telling the VR haters to suck it up or don't let the door hit them if they really do want to leave upon her return. VR does have one major player on her side and that's Eric Braeden. He loved working with her.

EB and VR are very unpopular with the other cliques, which explains why they like each other. Supposedly Sony has focus group data suggesting that viewers like Victor, which is why they keep him around (though he took a big pay cut last contract).
MTS has glommed onto Josh Morrow; she had been lady of the manor when Ed Scott produced there, and she was quite adrift when he decamped. For a while now Bergman and Stafford have ruled that show, and JFP has put that under strain (Bergman benefits greatly from their vision, Stafford does not). MM and SC are each other's biggest cheerleaders, and Chrissy and Greg are both big-time supporters of Stafford (and vice versa). Now that MCE and Jessica Collins have began their ascent to leading lady status, it will be "interesting" to see how the factions deal. MM would be wise to hitch himself to MCE, as Billy Miller is trying to do.
What will also be fascinating fallout is the new Kyle situation. They were clearly headed for a Kyle-Phyllis hookup (which Stafford supposedly loathed); the recast would suggest they are either listening to Stafford (by getting rid of this older Kyle) or throwing her under the bus worse (by setting up a more appropriate Summer-Kyle relationship, only to have it thwarted by old school Y&R incest when they reveal Summer to be Jack's, which Stafford has opposed for years). Stafford would be wise to go to JFP immediately and demand to be paired with Steve Burton--he may not be the most emotive actor, but he sparked best with her of his recent chem tests, and she certainly has experience with a block of wood (Morrow).

Yeah, back in the early-80s, Bell completely rebooted Y&R by writing out the Brooks and Pentisses and shifting the focus to the Newmans and Abbots. Victor Newman's story has been told. He just had his FOURTH wedding to Nikki. It's time for him to fade into the background.

I agree with you R25. Victoria Rowell is no bigger pain than several others. Eric Braden is a primo pain in the ass but the biggest one is Michelle Stafford. She seemed to be fine with the pairing of Phyllis and Dru (not romantically) at first, and so did the audience. But then Michelle got pissed because she couldn't rein over the Dru character. They are just to similar. Michelle was fine until Victoria started stealing some of her thunder. Michelle wants to be the only "Phyllis type-Dru type" on the show and she raised a fit. She also hated Maura West coming on and sabatoged (SP?) her chance with the show. She has done it with others too. And yes as someone stated she was pissed that the "Murphy" actor left Sciweird. MS had ALOT of pull during the last 2 years of MAB's rein. I think JFP is one EP who won't let her get away with it anymore. MS really is out of control. Funny how Michelle bitches about being on the BB (for once!) but she sure didn't care about the people she's had thrown under the buss. Karma is a bitch babe.

R33 Michael Muhney does not need MCE at all. That pairing was a bore. It was the only time I wanted to FF Adam. He needs to be free of that mess. I'd like to see MCE go to AMC she is not needed on Y&R at all.
Also MTS an EB have an up and down relationship. They are getting along right now because MTS sided with EB during the MM twitter thing. I think with them, Melody likes the pairing of Victor and Nikki more that EB does. But EB does see how important it is.

Michael Muhney is one of the few exciting things about the current Y&R.
There is so much dead weight there. Lauren and Michael needed to go ages ago (and Kevin, Gloria et al with them). Instead they axed Ashley and Abby.
Jess Walton is all but off the show now, which is a real shame.
Michelle Stafford is being smacked down right now with the new character of Avery, her sister. Jessica Collins is clearly getting a lot of favoritism from the powers that be and it's driving Stafford mad.
Stafford and Case have allegedly approached people about Scientology, which didn't exactly endear them to anyone.
For whatever controversy she's caused, Vicky Rowell is immensely popular with the audience and should be back on Y&R.

VR, Tricia Cast and Kimberlein Brown should all come back. Ratings gold.

It is amazing what you people do not know about the show. I worked on it from 1994 -2009 behind the scenes.
Truth - Eric Braeden is not well liked by the cast, he and Begman got into the well documented fight at the studio
Most of the rest you people talk about is Pure garbage. Melody is very well liked, never paraded around like the queen bee when Ed was the EP.
Same goes for Victoria Rowell. She was ambitious, but hell she did Y&R and primetime at the same time. She left due to salary dispute nothing more and she was not hated at all. Her and Kristoff got along famously. I think she thought she would be more famous than she is but other than that not crazy bitch at all.
Kimberlin Brown on the other hand.....she was bad news. She did some awful behinds the scenes shit including testifying against Hunter Tylo in her divorce from Michael Tylo.
Jeanne Cooper is a fucking absolute doll. The most down to earth person you will ever meet and she has not one bad thing to say about Melody or Jess or anyone.
Michelle Stafford is very very nice...scary nice but does not shove scientology down anyone's throat.
Trica Cast - fucking amazing chick. She married the music guy from the show, jack allocco but they got divorced in 2000.
You are right the show lost it's story telling magic when they lost Bill Bell. Maria Arena was nothing close she got it because of her husband BB Jr. Kay Alden should be the head writer she knows how to write Like Bill. JFP should not be EP - Ed Scott should. He was EP longest under Bill Bell. He knows how to pace a show like Bill did.

I always thought it was asinine and retarded to bring Maura West on to play 50 something Diane Jenkins. Maura is the same age as Sharon Case, which means she should surely have been playing Grace Turner instead, a role left wide open since Jennifer Garies is on B&B.
Let's be honest though, all the people raving about Muhney prove how lacklustre this show actually has become in terms of acting prowess. He's capable but not outstanding. If they brought back Heather Tom as Victoria Newman she'd chew him up and spit him out. Look at what they've done to Victoria Newman since 2005 using that "Loving" actress - they have totally feminized her. Victoria was Stephanie Forrester pedigree, an absolute force of nature once upon a time. Now... god. All we hear is Michelle Stafford's Phyllis screaming every line. Her blonde daughter is not adopted. Our sons went to school together, she was very nice, available and involved in her kids lives. Approachable too, always had a smile. We could count on her for school functions, so it's funny to hear she was so crazy at work.

R79, I think a major takeaway from this thread is that she wasn't crazy at work--her work was CrAzY and it may have rubbed off on her to some degree.

Y&R has gone way overboard on the crazy. They don't need Sheila part 22. That character and story have been DONE. TO. DEATH.
They don't need Patty, take 12. That also has been done to death.
No Sheila, or Patty, or Daisy, or any other nutsy psycho bitch for at least two or three years. They relied on it way too much.

Maura West was treated like dog shit by MS and EB. Wouldn't speak to her or run lines with her. MAB also hated the character because the actress was forced on her by CBS. Didn't even invite her to YR holiday party. It was awful. Adults shouldn't act like that.

Read an Eva Longoria interview when they were doing the Devious Maids pilot. She mentioned watching Susan Lucci do her scene and how friendly she was. She said that had not been her previous experience with daytime soap stars during her time at Y&R. Granted she might have just been sucking up to the boss, but it does seem like you hear more stories about the Y&R set not being a friendly place.

R86, Yes MAB did not like being told to hire MW. Poor Maura. She also had MS refusing to work with her. I didn't know about MTS and EB but I believe it. That girl never stood a chance. She was set up to fail.

I love Y&R, but I'm convinced that Michelle Stafford and Melody Thomas Scott are a bunch of shit-stirring megabitches who thrive on conflict. The stories of the fights they'd pick with Victoria and other actresses are legendary. Why do you think that so many female fan favorites never make it for any length of time? Nina, Sheila, Drucilla, Ashley, Olivia, Heather #2, Patty #2, Diane #2 and so many others have had their characters completely wrecked...meanwhile, Phyllis and Nikki are shoved down viewers' throats (along with Sharon).
Does anyone know if the woman who plays Victoria is part of the Michelle Stafford/Melody Thomas Scott clique? She's...okay...but the fact that she's made it this long seems to indicate that she's willing to go along to get along.

PS: Doug Davison is soooo hot. I was watching the 40th Anniversary episode that began with a highlight reel of Paul, and Doug was hot, gracious, and just seemed like a really great guy. I'm hoping he gets an Emmy this year for the storyline related to Paul shooting Ricky.
I've also been enjoying the actress who plays Leslie (although I initially thought she was Jennifer Hudson!).

Amelia Heinle goes along to get along and is not seen as a threat. Only actresses that they deem threats are treated poorly. This is the same reason why Steve Burton is getting a pass, they don't consider him a threat - yet. It also probably helps that Burton is JFP's boy and is tight with Steve Kent.

I bet it drives them crazy that Eva Longoria and Shemar Moore were able to eventually move on to hit evening shows while they're still stuck on shitty soaps after all these years.

Keeping willowy Amelia Heinle who got her start as a classic damaged Aggie Nixon ingenue on Loving seems like a Sony thing. In their and Barbara Bloom's endless quest to become more like ABC. Brad Bell has Heather Tom locked down but I think JFP would welcome her back - Tom's Victoria is a lot like JFP. the current version doesn't work.
VR is needed at YR but she is insane. She did a 3 day twitter rampage demanding fans boycott all advertised sponsors (which she named) and called Steve Kent a bigot.
Stafford doesn't know how good she has it. Her reunion with Jack is great and I can stand to watch her again. Reopening Summer's paternity as she goes for Kyle would be amazing story. They better do it.
Burton will be chewed up and spat out. But Muhney, while talented is an egomaniac drama queen. Reminds me of George Reinholt on Another World. Magnetic but a relentlessly disruptive shit stirrer.

R94, I really don't like watching Burton's talentless ass, so I wouldn't mind if the GC Mean Girls deaded him, but I think you underestimate JFP. Girl is a C-U-N-T. And she LOVES Burton. If MS/MTS go up against him I could see Nikki having a flareup and losing the power of speech while Phyllis becomes HIV positive after a one-night stand--if she doesn't just fire their asses.

again amazing what you don't know-
Let's see - there are no parking spaces assigned at television city or at least there were not up to 2009.
As far as Melody Thomas Scott there was a period where she did not talk to anyone one set. Jeanne and her are long since over it. Same goes for Ed Scott, he would spend time (Jeanne says hours but I don't think anyone spent hours on lighting..lol if you saw the shooting schedule) on lighting Melody. Again way in the past and both are over it.
Victoria Rowell is ambitious. When she got the Eddie Murphy Movie, and then the prime time tv, she thought she was headed for big times. She wanted more money to stay, her schedule became impossible and it was decided to let her go. Is she a diva? Yeah. Did everyone hate her? no.
Kimberlin Brown. Saying the whole cast loved her shows how much you do not know. When she first got on Y&R she buddied up to Tonya Lee Williams. As soon as she got the baby storyline she dropped Tonya as a friend. You want to know how much she is liked? Ask Tracy Recht, Ask Peter Barton, Ask Hunter Tylo, ask anyone who worked with her on and off camera. She would pit people against each other. She would start rumors and gossip. She would pry information from people. She thought she was the next Melody Thomas Scott.
Look if you really knew how things ran on Y&R behind the scenes you would be disappointed. There is hardly as much drama and truth to what is spilled here. Some actors are dissapointed when they get cast and don't walk in being treated like a big deal and have negative things to say. If you are new and someone has been there for 20 years, yeah that 20 year person is going to appear to treated differently by the crew. They paid their dues, they know everyone. People will leave and say "oh so and so was a diva, they pushed me out," Truth be told if you click, have the chops and are well liked by the audience, you are staying. If you just don't mesh, or grow a bigger head than what you really are you are going,
And yes the ratings for Y&R for AA audiences is sky high, always has been Nothing to do with race on the show. Generations was never as popular with AA audiences and that show was all black.

R105's response doesn't even really respond to what we're talking about here--which is the infighting between and amongst old-school veterans and their cliques. I do buy that MTS and Jeanne Cooper are over it, though. Cooper gave MTS a shout out in her little episode intro that wasn't really necessary--unless she was fucking with her.

Rowell's relentless hunting of Y&R about diversity did get them to add some blacktresses and blacktors, though it took the arrival of JFP to get them on the front burner. So, props to her for that.

R47 Go fuck yourself saying Victoria wrote that her daughter was adopted in her book. Victoria is half white and her husband (at the time) is white so her daughter is 3/4 white. It's not impossible and not as infrequent as you think.
I loved Dru, loved her friendship with Sharon and hated how her last year was. They wrote terribly for Dru that final year.
MCE is a mediocre actress, no chemistry with MM or anyone else. MCE, surprised it's not mentioned more often, is engaged to a CBS executive hence her major airtime and how she's in various storylines, getting airtime with actors who play legacy characters. She's also friends with JFP. Mousy looking woman, looks like she has herpes on her mouth, Cindy Crawford mole you are not!
The show sucks. Dru's return would make a huge impact. Love her or hate her, Dru was very popular and still is. I don't see it happening, I think the ratings would have to be very low for them to even consider it.
Victoria was a foster child but she still managed to thrive and is a spokesperson for foster parenting. She studied ballet seriously at well-renowned places. She also modeled professionally.
It's hard to believe she managed to shoot Y&R and Diagnosis Murder for years. She's a wonderful success story in spite of her sometimes diva behavior. I think she exaggerates but I do not doubt that she experienced prejudice at Y&R.
It's amazing that the infamous spit take still gets talked about.

Y&R ALUM VICTORIA ROWELL SUES CBS AND SONY!
Daytime Confidential broke the news that Victoria Rowell (ex-Drucilla, Y&R) is suing CBS and Sony (and other defendants) on the grounds that Y&R refused to rehire her in retaliation for her speaking out about the lack of employment of African-Americans on daytime's top-rated drama. In the suit, Rowell alleges that she left the show in 2007 in the wake of racial discrimination, which she describes in her complaint. Rowell claims that since 2010, she has sought to return to the show, or to join BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL, and that Sony and Bell-Phillip Television Production, Inc., acting in concert with CBS's CEO, have rejected her bid because of her public and private comments about the show's lack of diversity both in front of and behind the camera.
