Kevin Bacon

He seems like a normal decent guy. Anyone met him? I was watching Beauty Shop last night and his turn as the gay, bitchy Jorge got me thinking he had to have done that movie for fun.

by Anonymousreply 81July 23, 2019 9:50 AM

Never met him but I've heard nice things about him. I can't remember when it was but there was a stage production of Footloose somewhere a few years ago and he sent a case of champagne to the actors and crew and a note wishing them well. Very classy. I love how he was willing to make fun of himself on the Visa six degrees of Kevin Bacon commercial he did:

[quote]I love how he was willing to make fun of himself on the Visa six degrees of Kevin Bacon commercial he did:

C'mon...those Visa commercials easily paid $2 mil. a spot.

by Anonymousreply 2January 2, 2011 4:27 PM

For the life of me, I really don't understand why he's never been nominated for an Oscar. The Woodsman should have garnered him a nod.

by Anonymousreply 3January 2, 2011 4:35 PM

Loved him along with that other hunky guy in Tremors. He can do comedy. I also thought Stir of Echoes was really good.

by Anonymousreply 4January 2, 2011 4:38 PM

He is a really good actor. He's one of those really good actors who even tho is probably a better actor than a Pacino, you'd never think to add to a list of acting greats.

by Anonymousreply 5January 2, 2011 4:49 PM

He seemed like a good sport on those W&G episodes where Jack is obsessed by him.

by Anonymousreply 6January 2, 2011 5:22 PM

Everything has been downhill for ol' Kev since ANIMAL HOUSE.

by Anonymousreply 7January 2, 2011 5:27 PM

He and Kyra Sedgewick lost a great deal of money to Madoff.

by Anonymousreply 8January 2, 2011 5:34 PM

Saw him off Broadway in a show called "Road" where the whole show was in a warehouse and the actors were all over the place, there was no stage. One scene he was in white boxers and he bent over right in front of me and I can I say I saw Kevin bacon where the sun don't shine.

by Anonymousreply 9January 2, 2011 5:36 PM

one word. Tinymeat.

by Anonymousreply 10January 2, 2011 5:41 PM

In the mid 80's he and Kyra were in KC filming something. They arranged and appeared at one of the first AIDS benefits there, in a straight bar no less.

by Anonymousreply 11January 2, 2011 5:47 PM

[quote]one word. Tinymeat.

The man knows how to wear a pair of jeans. Sock(s)?

He's no porn star, but is this really considered "tiny"?

[quote]C'mon...those Visa commercials easily paid $2 mil. a spot.

So what? It's not like he needed the money. Most actors would probably consider it beneath themselves to do commercials but he doesn't.

by Anonymousreply 14January 2, 2011 8:52 PM

I agree with Mia. He's been overlooked too many times. I hope he gets his due soon.

by Anonymousreply 15January 2, 2011 8:52 PM

He supports our gays, and gay marriage, love him. I would love to see him win an Oscar someday.

by Anonymousreply 16January 2, 2011 8:53 PM

He should have been nominated for "Murder in the First"....yes, he's always overlooked, and he's been in the business forever.

by Anonymousreply 17January 2, 2011 8:55 PM

I thought he had been nominated for an Oscar! Prison drama, 10 or 15 years ago, small film, but a great performance from him.

by Anonymousreply 18January 2, 2011 8:58 PM

[quote]So what? It's not like he needed the money.

How do you know, are you his accountant? It is well know he lost a lot with Bernie Madoff.

by Anonymousreply 19January 2, 2011 9:04 PM

R14, as R8 mentions, he and his wife lost a lot of money in the Madoff scheme. As far as doing commercials, you haven't heard that many A-list celebs go over to Asia and do them for an obscene amount of money?

by Anonymousreply 20January 2, 2011 9:05 PM

I thought he had the biggest cock in Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 21January 2, 2011 9:08 PM

Be that as it may R19 I doubt he and Kyra are in the poorhouse. He could've done the commercial because he thought it was a hoot, which it was.

by Anonymousreply 22January 2, 2011 9:10 PM

Forgot to mention that that particular commercial is very old, done long before the Madoff thing.

Moving on. I liked him in The River Wild, nice change from the good guy roles he usually plays.

by Anonymousreply 23January 2, 2011 9:15 PM

Very underrated. He will be like Jeff Bridges and have to wI for his boy n

by Anonymousreply 24January 2, 2011 9:17 PM

[quote]He could've done the commercial because he thought it was a hoot, which it was.

He could have. But, if commercials weren't paying the likes of Kate Winslet, Kevin Bacon, Jodie Foster... bags and bags and bags of money they would not be doing them. They make more doing a commercial than a feature film.

by Anonymousreply 25January 2, 2011 9:20 PM

[quote]He's no porn star, but is this really considered "tiny"?

Considering what's going on in the Russell Brand thread, he's gigantic.

by Anonymousreply 26January 2, 2011 9:20 PM

*immediately heads to the Russell Brand thread*

by Anonymousreply 27January 2, 2011 9:23 PM

r27, boy are you in for a suprise... it's itty bitty. but maybe he is a grower.

by Anonymousreply 28January 2, 2011 10:28 PM

Did r24 have a stroke mid sentence?

by Anonymousreply 29January 2, 2011 10:35 PM

Bottomed for Colin Firth in Where the Truth Lies

by Anonymousreply 30January 3, 2011 12:06 AM

My friend (a director) worked with him a few years ago. Says he's a great guy and would love to work with him again.

by Anonymousreply 31January 3, 2011 12:20 AM

Loved him in Taking Chance.

by Anonymousreply 32January 3, 2011 12:22 AM

He was really good in The Woodsman.

by Anonymousreply 33January 3, 2011 12:26 AM

I saw him in a movie where his son was killed in an armed robbery and he goes all Charles Bronson on their asses.

by Anonymousreply 34January 3, 2011 12:29 AM

Even though some people would not find him conventionally handsome, I think he's REALLY sexy.

by Anonymousreply 35January 3, 2011 8:29 AM

I wouldn't say he's underrated considering he's worked constantly for like 30 years. He's just... one of those actors who is always there but not THERE in terms of media coverage. And good for him, I'd think it would be a dream gig to keep working (and in a lot of good projects) but avoid all the B.S. Famous but not too famous, all the perks and none of the drawbacks. For instance, you couldn't pay me to be Brad Pitt with the constant attention, photographers everywhere, people knowing where your houses are, etc, etc. But Kevin Bacon - that's the sweet spot of fame.

The Madoff connection does make me wonder just how "clean" he is, though. Smacks of pure greed.

Also - compare his performance in Footloose for what passes today as acting among the youngsters. Night and day. He looks like Brando compared to Zac and whoever else they're pushing these days.

by Anonymousreply 36January 3, 2011 8:40 AM

"Even though some people would not find him conventionally handsome, I think he's REALLY sexy." What are you talking about? He's been on the "hot guy I'd fuck" list since like 1985. No one thinks he's anything other than handsome, at the very least. You make it sound like he's in league with Steve Buscemi.

by Anonymousreply 37January 3, 2011 8:44 AM

r37, well, I said that only because it's been said that he has a face similar to a pig, especially the snout.%0D %0D Of course I disagree. Like I said, he is one sexy man.

by Anonymousreply 38January 3, 2011 8:53 AM

Sexy vs.handsome. That is the question.

by Anonymousreply 39January 3, 2011 11:49 AM

[quote]In the mid 80's he and Kyra were in KC filming something. They arranged and appeared at one of the first AIDS benefits there, in a straight bar no less.%0D %0D Kyra Sedgwick played Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward's daughter in MR. AND MRS. BRIDGE. That was filmed here in K.C.

by Anonymousreply 40January 3, 2011 12:19 PM

[quote]The Madoff connection does make me wonder just how "clean" he is, though. Smacks of pure greed.

Are you an idiot? Rich people invest their money all the time. Madoff was a legit investor. Thousands trusted him. You think Bacon knew he was a world class con man?

by Anonymousreply 41January 3, 2011 12:29 PM

Anyone who invested in Madoff had to know something was not right, given his rate of return. Maybe they thought it was mafia money or drug money or something else--but they knew that legal business investment did not reap such returns.

They thought they were benefiting from something not legal and got caught in their own net.

by Anonymousreply 42January 3, 2011 12:39 PM

He is loved in Philadelphia, where his father is a well-respected architect and city planner. His father is some bigwig in the Philadelphia scene.

by Anonymousreply 43January 3, 2011 12:47 PM

A great man. A Class Act. Never heard a bad thing said about him. Wish him every success. Truly one of the good ones.

by Anonymousreply 44January 3, 2011 12:49 PM

It's January 3. I thought high school was back in session. Are you home "sick", Madison?

by Anonymousreply 45January 3, 2011 12:55 PM

A lot of people lost their money not dealing directly with Madoff but lost it through 3rd party business managers, investment companies, etc.

by Anonymousreply 46January 3, 2011 2:14 PM

They cannot be that bad off financially, Kyra is wrapping up production of the Closer this year and it is still the highest rated non-network, non-pay channel television show.

As for Kevin? It is very rare that you actually need 6 steps to get from one actor to Kevin. He was in countless movies in the last twenty years.

by Anonymousreply 47January 3, 2011 2:34 PM

He and his brother have a band and are playing tonight here in Berlin, Germany. Should I go? Does anyone know their music?

A friend is a coordinator for a theater-related non-profit in NYC. Kevin and Kyra are big financial supporters. My friend says that Kyra is somewhat aloof and that Kevin is super nice if a little scatterbrained or distracted. He said they both seem like great parents. That's all I've got.

by Anonymousreply 49January 3, 2011 3:01 PM

I was about to post what R46 posted.

by Anonymousreply 50January 3, 2011 3:15 PM

His music isn't very good.

by Anonymousreply 51January 3, 2011 3:28 PM

Like him. One of the celebrities that seems to be normal and decent.

by Anonymousreply 52January 3, 2011 3:29 PM

I saw him and Kyra on Madison ave in NYC once. Cute couple. Seemed like they were still into each other.

by Anonymousreply 53January 3, 2011 3:38 PM

R10 has clearly never seen Wild Things.

by Anonymousreply 54January 3, 2011 4:10 PM

I like Kevin Bacon. For a time I was put off by his mean looking teeth, but he's never really seemed mean at all. I hope he just another actor like Rosie O'Donald who got a less than talented dentist. %0D %0D Put me on the lise of "Beyond sexy" and I will continue hoping for a hot dream with Kevin.

by Anonymousreply 55January 3, 2011 4:11 PM

I saw this commercial last week. He's really funny.

by Anonymousreply 57January 3, 2011 4:28 PM

He and his brother played a resort in the Poconos once, where I had the tremendous misfortune to work (this was about 8 years ago).

The place was a literal dump and celebs that were there for one night did their gig and then got the hell out of there back to New York.

Kevin (and his brother) could not have been more down to earth and amicable. They both remembered me by name. Came up to the front desk themselves to check in. They were gracious to the entire staff.

Class acts, both of them.

Kevin and Kyra have given generously to the Gay Man's Health Crisis and AIDS.

by Anonymousreply 59January 3, 2011 4:52 PM

I completely agree about him being robbed of an Oscar nom for "The Woodsman".

by Anonymousreply 60January 3, 2011 5:00 PM

[quote]I saw him and Kyra on Madison ave in NYC once. Cute couple. Seemed like they were still into each other.%0D %0D The keep a low profile and raise their kids away from the Hollywood limelight. That seems to work a lot better than the people constantly in the tabloids. I've never seen a picture of their kids.%0D

by Anonymousreply 61January 3, 2011 6:11 PM

with a name like bacon you'd think he'd be a heifer.

by Anonymousreply 62January 3, 2011 6:13 PM

r57 = wild imagination.

by Anonymousreply 63January 3, 2011 6:46 PM

Their eldest daughter played her niece on The Closer.

by Anonymousreply 64January 4, 2011 4:37 AM

I was working backstage at a concert for the Bacon Brothers Band, when I met him. Really nice guy. He grabbed my crotch - hard - and we traded blowjobs in the bathroom. Dick was average sized. He asked me to swallow, but I never do, so I think I disappointed him a little.

by Anonymousreply 65January 4, 2011 4:52 AM

You are a whore, darlin'.

by Anonymousreply 66January 4, 2011 5:00 AM

his dad was my arch professor back in early 80s at university of Cincinnati

by Anonymousreply 67January 4, 2011 5:03 AM

by Anonymousreply 68January 4, 2011 5:03 AM

r68, well, I can beat that!%0D %0D My neighbor's cousin's BF's landlady's granddaughter's best friend's uncle talked to him once and said he was nice.

by Anonymousreply 69January 4, 2011 7:31 AM

[quote]I think Kevin lives somewhere in Central Park West and he tried to cruise me while I was waiting for a bus some 15 yrs ago..

They do live on Central pPark West. I passed their building on day and he was exiting wearing a head to toe spandex skin tight running outfit and that boy was skinnnnnnny.

by Anonymousreply 70January 4, 2011 1:01 PM

Clearly none of you really know Kevin. I do. He's a pretentious. nervous, unhappy guy. Very insecure. Hard to spend time with. Totally self-absorbed. However, he takes no pleasure in hurting other people, and has helped a lot of younger actors along in their careers. And, when he does relax, he can be very funny and even sweet. Kyra is a diva--when she's around, all attention must be on her. And she's kind of nuts, but then, she comes from one of the craziest families in America. Their son is a vegan, and very cool.

by Anonymousreply 71January 4, 2011 2:37 PM

I loved his appearence in Will and Grace. He sure had fun in the show poking fun at himself. He seems like a good sport.

by Anonymousreply 72January 7, 2011 2:11 AM

This may be the first thread ever in DL history without a nasty word said about the subject by post 72. People must really, really like Kevin & Mia.

by Anonymousreply 73January 7, 2011 3:23 AM

I have been in lust with KB ever since "Friday the 13th"...looked so good in a speedo (not an easy thing for a northern, fleshy, white boy!) and who can forget that brief glimpse of his meat - tiny by NO ONE's definition - in "Wild Things?!!!" (He really has some bacon to bring home.) Wish that he and Matt Dillon would have got it on, like everyone else in that movie did with each other (and would've made sense, plot-wise, IMO).

Buddy really seems to be an old-fashioned movie star; i.e., does good work on EVERY job and then goes home to live his life and let his fans "speculate" (read: fantasize) about him in whatever way they wish. Good on ya, Kev!

Attachment is our boy @ 50+!!!!!!!

KB has always been my ideal as a truly BUTCH actor. He and Ewan McGregor imo are the two most sexy butch actors in Hollywood. Kevin has those mean teeth. If he smiles a certain way, you just know you wouldn't want to see his mean side. He is one man that has never made my gaydar active.

by Anonymousreply 75February 5, 2015 4:35 AM

his family is from philly, he came to a ribbon cutting once at my place of work. he seemed a bit distracted but nice enough. he and his wife have a holiday place in the area.

by Anonymousreply 76February 5, 2015 4:37 AM

Kevin is truly a really nice guy.

by Anonymousreply 77February 5, 2015 4:42 AM

He made one bad choice after another after Footloose. Then the 90s hit and he becomes this great character actor in tons of big movies.

by Anonymousreply 78July 23, 2019 5:22 AM

R78 then he did The Following.

by Anonymousreply 79July 23, 2019 9:23 AM

We walked past each other one summer afternoon on 2nd Avenue in Midtown. He was wearing linen pants. I assure you, he has a big dick.

by Anonymousreply 80July 23, 2019 9:33 AM

R71 sounds legit - Kevin Bacon and his wife aren’t *perfect*. No one is. I’ve heard nothing but nice things from people I know who’ve encountered them over the years, on the UWS. So they’re polite and kind to everyone in general, but have some flaws. Cool.
