We need to come up with a role that's sure to win her an Oscar
Let's create a surefire Oscar-winning role for Annette Bening!

Annette could play a transgender drag queen with Aids who, while trying to save her farm from unscrupulous bank foreclosure, has to sell a kidney on the black market in a parallel universe in order travel back in time again to the Holocaust in order to save her kidnapped children from Nazis.

Annette could try playing fellow loser G in "The Eternal Bridesmaid" and split the Oscar with her. Desperate times...

A remake of Mildred Pierce in which her child is trans.
Played by her actual trans child.
Co-starring CGI de-aging.

She's sort of a bizarro-world Sally Field, in that Annette is 65 but looks 75.
Sally played Mary Todd Lincoln at 65 and passed for 45.
Maybe Annette could star in a remake of Harold and Maude with Tim O'Tay?
A racially recharged remake of Rosemary's Baby, starring Zendaya and directed by Jordan Peele?

We need to put Glenn in it, too

Cast Cillian Murphy as the male lead and I’ll line up to see whatever the group comes up with.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 11, 2024 7:39 PM |
We tried it for poor Glenn. It didn’t work.
Some things just aren’t in the cards. Not every fine actress can be beloved by her peers.

A dramatic Golden Girls type film starring Annette, Glenn Close, Sigourney Weaver and Angela Bassett.

Annette is 65, Cillian is 47.

R11, I'd actually love to see that!

The Katherine Hepburn part in Suddenly Last Summer. Seriously.
She'd be better than Hepburn was, and they could do a remake closer to the original intent of the play.
Whaddya think?

We need to get Diane Warren to write a theme song for the movie
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 12, 2024 5:29 PM |
And I'll sing the fucking heart out of that theme song!

Bradley, you can direct. Then give a bunch of interviews about how the spirit of Leonard Bernstein was guiding you

Maybe, a Nancy Pelosi biopic.

Annette Bening as Hilary Swank in “The Hilary Swank Story.”

In “MILF and Dove” Annette stars as Julie, a blind & retired librarian who is forced to take to OnlyFans due to medical bills. Unbeknownst to her, her assistant Dove (Lily Gladstone) has also been posting conversations with Julie at the breakfast table to YouTube, where Julie has been sharing her painful story of abuse and how she persevered. Julie becomes an internet sensation and becomes the first blind woman to host a hit daytime talk show. Costars include Oprah Winfrey and Emma Stone as Julie’s estranged daughter, Honey, who is also blind.

No, Emma already has two Oscars. I will play the role of the estranged daughter who is also blind.

R29, are you also R12?

Big Gretch- The Gretchen Whitmer Story
With the aid of prosthetics, wigs, makeup, and CGI Bradley plays Big Gretch. Annette will play Big Gretch's mother who died of brain cancer years ago. With Carey Mulligan as Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Winona Ryder as Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, and Abigail Breslin as Big Gretch's lesbian daughter.

For their excellent body of work, it’s mind boggling that Annette Bening, Glenn Close, Sigourney Weaver and Angela Bassett have not received an Oscar. These are well trained, experienced, interesting, and accomplished actors.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 12, 2024 7:45 PM |
Angela Bassett should have tried to star in a Shirley Chisholm biopic years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | March 12, 2024 7:48 PM |
The estranged blind daughter is Oscar bait for Nepo Baby Ella Beatty, who will her first, and forget to thank Mom, while Annette loses again.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | March 12, 2024 8:24 PM |
*will win*
by Anonymous | reply 37 | March 12, 2024 8:25 PM |
Give Annette the Oscar!!
by Anonymous | reply 38 | March 12, 2024 8:42 PM |
Glenn Close too!
by Anonymous | reply 39 | March 12, 2024 8:42 PM |
It's part popularity contest and Annette apparently just ain't that well liked.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | March 12, 2024 8:56 PM |
I also need an Oscar and I can play the estranged blind daughter.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | March 13, 2024 6:39 PM |
The Oscars really missed a trick not having Hillary Swank present Bening’s nomination. We’d never stop talking about it.

Annette Bening in "The Elizabeth Warren Story!"
by Anonymous | reply 43 | March 13, 2024 10:55 PM |
Amy Adams could use a boost in one of these projects after six nominations.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | March 13, 2024 11:28 PM |
I think the dementia route that has won Streep, Moore & Hopkins Oscars recently would be her best bet. Throw in Bradley Cooper as the son and Amy Adams as the daughter and at least one of them should get an Oscar. End credits will have a tear-jerking ballad by Diane Warren, "Please remember me (and tick my name on the ballot)", co-written and performed by Glenn Close.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | March 13, 2024 11:42 PM |
Amy Adams will probably go down the political biopic route for an Oscar. She'll either dye her hair brown to play Gretchen Whitmer or don a short blonde wig to play HIlary Clinton.

Annette as Muriel, a harried webmistress, in DATALOUNGE.

I think Glenn has a slightly better chance of winning an Oscar than Annette.

[quote] Annette Bening in "The Elizabeth Warren Story!"
Well, she played Dianne Feinstein in a movie several years back. Playing another US senator won't hurt her if it could get her the Oscar.

If should could nail the accent, she could portray Nico from The Velvet Underground, but re-imagined... like Nico she didn't die of an overdose and lived to be an extremely aloof, yet talkative, old lady.

[quote] Angela Bassett should have tried to star in a Shirley Chisholm biopic years ago.
Bassett was the right age for that about 20 years ago, when Hollywood was not making movies that starred 40-something Black female actors.

Annette would be great as the star in a Glenn Close biopic.

Serving the Royals
Annette doing a British accent plays Dr. Violet Clark, an oncologist who is tasked with advising King Charles III and Kate Middleton on their cancer bouts while also dealing with her own personal issues. Co-starring Christoph Waltz as the ghost of Violet's husband who was also a doctor, but died tragically in an accident during a medical mission in Africa. Carey Mulligan plays Violet's disabled daughter who was cerebral palsy and speaks with slurred speech (this will help Mulligan win an Oscar in the supporting actress category). Vanessa Kirby in brown wig as Kate Middleton and Michael Fassbender in age makeup and prosthetics as King Charles III.

I want something that’s physical as well as emotional - with a blurry Summer afternoon glow about it.
“NELL, EVER AFTER” in which an older and world weary Nell confronts her speech therapist - played by Drew Barrymore - as well as her physical therapist - played by Courtney Love. It might veer into Suspiria territory with a song and dance number.

Reassemble the original cast of Grifters and reshoot it exactly, Gus Van Sant style. The actors are directed to play it straight and the question of improbability due to age is NEVER addressed. They must sell the characters, using their career long acting experience and brilliance. And it works! Oscars for everyone.
