All I can say is that every song I've heard of Taylor's has a shallow feel to it that leaves me cold. Hole has several songs that rip at my heart in a way I can't explain. I have seen Lana live, twice in concert, once at festival. She can sing, and she does sing live.

She isn’t a high energy, engaging, dynamic performer, she rambles the stage warbling. It’s her schtick and in person it does work.
