Murdaugh Murders
I was seriously considering a move to North Carolina. due to the cost of living in New England, but holy shit- after getting into this Murdaugh family shit and watching the MAX and Netflix documentaries--- I don't think so.. (And I know this was "low country' South Carolina--
but just. watching this makes you feel the oppression and small minded lives..
What a fucked up family, fucked up man, fucked up kids---
Some of the Netflix interviewees did not seem completely homophobic (the 2 lovely young ladies- one of whom dated the murdered son) but I suspect that they were the love the sinner/hate the sin types..
But I did find my new favorite saying-
"He was drunker than Cooter Brown!"

Yeah, I instantly liked the two girls who were great fag hag material and looked fun to be around: they were both in awe of the sweet character of the gay guy. The rest, not so much.

You know though, OP, no matter where you go, and not just in the USA, local politics tends to be very corrupt, and sometimes dangerously so.
My suggestion would be to watch the Russian movie from 2014, Leviathan, and then just move wherever the fuck you want, because things are the same everywhere — frozen Siberia or the warm Carolinas.

The story that was always told in my childhood was that Cooter Brown didn’t want to fight in the Civil War. To prevent being drafted into service, he stayed drunk the entirety of the war because you couldn’t be legally drafted while drunk.
