Steve Benjamin, bald Democratic strategist for Biden, must have some worth to the campaign, but he's useless on TV. Nicole and David Jolly were pressing him to answer a question about how the Biden campaign could/should reach out to.Haley voters.

He's a robot without a bit of nuance. David asked the question and got a robotic prepared answer, and Nicole tried asking the same question twice trying - by changing a few words in the same question - to elicit the answer, or any answer. All three times he gave the same robotic answer talking about Biden's accomplishments. It was ridiculous. And he's clueless about the state of the election. Jolly, a former Republican who frequently says the only way out of this mess is to vote for Democrats, was legitimately probing for what the answer might be for Biden to reach Haley undecideds. Benjamin couldn't get passed his canned response, which didn't come close to really answering their question.

They gave up and Nicole, who made some comment about the answer being the same day by day, ended the interview while she and David smiled and repressed laughter.

As always, Democrats need some serious help in getting out their message, and Benjamin is useless at it.

And not to beat a dead (if very handsome) dead horse, but it just seems weird that someone as smart and hot as Jonathan Swan wouldn't be gobbled up by MSNBC or CNN and be a regularly featured guest. Even he is not going to get me to tune into Fox.

I love Swan because he seems to be the only person who knows how to interview Trump where Trump consistently comes off happily as an ignorant asshole without realizing it. I think he sees Swan as a cute central casting pixie who really likes him.

MSNBC is now talk radio on TV with the exception of a lackluster midday lineup where they hammer the same three or four points of the day. ' The network is being starved of funds to do actual reporting and they need a news overview at least once an hour. Their format is stagnant.

The lack of funding to do actual reporting is an industry-wide problem. It’s hard to make journalism pay when there are so many other sources of information.
