Charmed Reboot Canceled

CBS canceled the pilot it ordered for a Charmed reboot. Just like with the Zombieland series, it was pure hatred from fans that caused it to get canceled. As soon as the news broke that CBS ordered a pilot thousands of primarily female fans clamored to get online and complain about it saying that it was "too soon". CBS finally got the hint and dropped it. Thanks fan girls! The only thing you are good for is to get shows canceled. What's ironic is that many a fan girl posted saying they want a reboot in 5-10 years. Right, like they get to make that call. It's over with. There's never going to be reboot now. This was the one and only chance and you ruined it.

And in case you are wondering, the director of Zombieland the series says it was "collective hatred" that caused the show to get canceled. Too many people objected to a series based off of the movie and he was upset that they didn't even give it a chance. They recently made "From Dusk to Dawn" into a series and it's not half bad. I think idiots react negatively far too soon. Just think that if they ganged up they may have gotten the WB to cancel Buffy before it aired too.

I really could see a movie version.

R1, Why? Prue is dead. Rose McGowan doesn't want anything to do with it. A reboot is the only way to go.

by Anonymousreply 2September 16, 2014 5:39 AM

I meant a reboot that is a movie. New stars.

Holly could play the ghost mom.

by Anonymousreply 3September 16, 2014 6:00 AM

Well thats just dumb you dumb ass haters yall just didnt want there to be a reboot because it was gonna be at the top of the rating chart 5 stars 😠😡💔👎✋💯💯

I'm confused as to why they'd even consider a Reboot. The show wasn't really that popular, especially in the last few seasons. And if it's just the concept that they thought would work with today's audiences... how hard is it to just create a show centered around a family of witches.. ahem, Witches of East End?

by Anonymousreply 5June 9, 2015 1:37 PM

Wasn't Zombieland just an Amazon pilot?

by Anonymousreply 6June 9, 2015 1:41 PM

Maybe it's just me but the show went downhill with the recast of Rose McGowan, I don't like her, it was a horrible miscast, also she hates gays now. That said, the show was good for the first couple of seasons with the original stars.

Well, we also got spared from a Murder, She Wrote reboot thanks to public demand.

R10, the Jem movie is that only by name. I admit I've never watched the original Jem series nor the new movie and my only connection is the absolutely lovely Jiz. But I've read they didn't even try to make a real new Jem movie but only slapped its name on a script that had few resemblances with Jem the series.

Charmed was way too chick show for me so I never got into it. I'm kinda glad they backed out of the remake since something fresh might now come out of it. Or not.

They recently made "From Dusk to Dawn" into a series and it's not half bad.

It is not half bad and in fact is actually better than the films it is based off of.

The show took a serious nosedive after Doherty left. It became too camp and cutesy. The sister dynamic was abandoned for Milano's fuck of the week new boyfriends.

McGowan was actually pretty good but you could tell she was phoning it in the last few seasons. The changed Piper way too much, too. She went from shy and sweet to a stark raving bitch with a chip on her shoulder.

I still think the show would have thrived if they had killed Milano off instead of Doherty and apparently most of the crew felt that way, too.
The show took a serious nosedive after Doherty left.

This has been mentioned in one of the other threads before, but might as well be mentioned here too. There was an article written after Doherty left about how a lot of the writers and crew used to bitch about Shannen and how she would get too heavily involved in production. She would be too vocal in telling the writers what direction to go, what was too much, what needed to be rewritten and how. They couldn't stand it. Yet, after she left, the quality quickly went down and they realized that Shannen not only knew a lot more than they thought, but played a bigger role then they realized in keeping a certain quality on the show. Her leaving was one of the reasons the scripts turned to shit and a lot of the staff supposedly ended up leaving the show shortly after.

Yeah, the first few years was about the sisters and their fighting warlocks, demons and dark lighters while being a strong family unit.

Then it all became about fairies, leprechauns, wood sprites, etc... They completely abandoned the warlocks and dark lighters mythology and it was just demons. And they even stopped trying with the demons by axing make-up effects and just making them all wear leather.

Who the hell cares this much about a fucking Charmed reboot? Aren't there enough reboots?

[bold]Charmed Reboot Gets CW Pilot Order[/bold]
The CW’s previous stab at a Charmed reboot was set in the 1970s but didn’t make to the pilot stage when it “didn’t come in the way the network had hoped.” (At the time, CW boss Mark Pedowitz described the project as “self-contained” and “very standalone,” with no ties to the original supernatural series.)
The rejiggered version is set in the present day and is described as “a fierce, funny, feminist reboot” centered on “three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches. Between vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy, and maintaining familial bonds, a witch’s work is never done.”
Jane the Virgin‘s Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin, the team behind last year’s pitch, executive-produced and wrote this redevelopment for CBS Television Studios, while Jennie Urman (Jane the Virgin), director Brad Silberling and Ben Silverman are the other EPs.
