For an actor whom so many call the greatest working actor, he really doesn’t have the filmography to show for it. He may be great in Roman J. Israel, Esq., but it’s still just Roman J. Israel, Esq., and half of his movies are trashy action thrillers that aren’t even at that level.

Shouldn’t the best actor be in much better films? Otherwise the greatest designation feels slightly theoretical, like a great athlete who can never bring his team to a championship.

Denzel is a good actor but indeed plays essentially the same role in every film. He’s hardly a chameleon on screen.

And he is a homophobe but on the woke scale, race trumps gay.

His nepo baby kid makes him even more unlikable.

Didn’t this start when the woke NYT named Denzel the #1 actor of this century? He’s fine but as noted, he is often one note and kind of sleepy. Except for Fences when he screams for 2 hours.
