Tasteful friends. Would you want your very own castle for under 1 million?

It's located in Michigan!

It looks like the unholy union between a Medieval Times and Mormon mcmansion.

by Anonymousreply 1April 30, 2024 4:19 AM

Varlets included or extra ?

by Anonymousreply 2April 30, 2024 4:24 AM

I am the easiest person to please. On anything. I could have probably found something nice about Hitler. However, every inch of this house is ugly. It looks like the exterior is made of cardboard.

by Anonymousreply 3April 30, 2024 4:32 AM

That is not a castle. Its a McMansion with bits stuck on so it vaguely resembles a castle from a distance...in fog. And as R3 says, those bits look like cardboard

by Anonymousreply 4April 30, 2024 4:39 AM

I can't stop laughing at the patches of brick stuck ON TOP OF the plaster

by Anonymousreply 5April 30, 2024 4:44 AM

What a DUMP !

by Anonymousreply 6April 30, 2024 4:46 AM

It’s a McCastle.

by Anonymousreply 7April 30, 2024 5:20 AM

That’s sad. Not a single redeeming characteristic.

by Anonymousreply 8April 30, 2024 10:08 AM

Well I had a theory, but it is nowhere near Michigan’s Renaissance Faire, so I’m at a loss on why this was built.

by Anonymousreply 9April 30, 2024 10:18 AM

Looks like they ran out of money before completely whatever it was supposed to be.

by Anonymousreply 10April 30, 2024 10:25 AM

Beautifully staged.

by Anonymousreply 11April 30, 2024 10:59 AM

Does it have an air strip?

by Anonymousreply 12April 30, 2024 11:03 AM

A lot of odd angles in a place that's basically a couple rectables with some bay windows. Looks like they ran out of money before they could landscape. Probably meant to be a vacation/weekend house given the location unless they're the local gentry.

by Anonymousreply 13April 30, 2024 11:50 AM

It's quintissentially Michigan.

by Anonymousreply 14April 30, 2024 12:01 PM

it has a vineyard; perhaps this was someone’s dream winery business or something and they failed horribly.

by Anonymousreply 15April 30, 2024 12:10 PM

hideous and risible yet i feel it could be worse

by Anonymousreply 16April 30, 2024 12:11 PM

The outdoor area with the long tables set up gives credence to the winery theory.

I've seen mobile homes with more charm.

by Anonymousreply 17April 30, 2024 12:40 PM

Ghastly! The furniture is hilariously awful.

by Anonymousreply 18April 30, 2024 2:41 PM

It needs a moat.

by Anonymousreply 19April 30, 2024 3:08 PM

Vile. The most laughable American castle I have seen in a very long time.

Not one aspect or feature that's not horrible

by Anonymousreply 20April 30, 2024 3:17 PM

Well, to be fair, in Michigan you’re not really safe unless you live in one.

by Anonymousreply 21April 30, 2024 3:21 PM

Love the landscaping.

by Anonymousreply 22April 30, 2024 3:25 PM

That is one ugly ass castle.

by Anonymousreply 23April 30, 2024 4:11 PM

[quote] It needs a moat.

You don't need a moat, you could always drown yourself for buying that money pit in Lake Michigan which is nearby.

by Anonymousreply 24April 30, 2024 4:17 PM

McMansion staircases are all horrible. And this is the clumsiest McMansion staircase design I have ever seen.

Trying to figure out what’s going on in the twin bed room. The view from the window is blocked.

by Anonymousreply 26May 1, 2024 12:41 PM

I wondered the same, R26. Grain silo? Plastic pod sauna? Tanning room? Wine fermentation tank? Home for bad children?

by Anonymousreply 27May 1, 2024 12:45 PM

Oh, my stars. I’ve lived my entire life in hopes that in the final act a mob of villagers would set their brooms alight and storm my castle as I hung out the highest window shrieking at them and now it can all happen!

by Anonymousreply 28May 1, 2024 12:58 PM

R26 and R27 that bedroom is below grade and that is the window well for escape in case of fire.

by Anonymousreply 29May 1, 2024 3:50 PM

OMG, surely that is not legal. I did look at the exterior trying to find the double window shown but could not see one.

by Anonymousreply 30May 1, 2024 3:55 PM

(Continued)

3 bedrooms and one is THAT? Every decision here has been bad.

by Anonymousreply 31May 1, 2024 3:58 PM

If I ever had a RICH stalker, this would be his abode. I could live the life of Costco luxury in some part of the mitten and he would proudly serve air-fried turkey legs.

by Anonymousreply 32May 1, 2024 4:13 PM

Well it does have a view of the lake...

by Anonymousreply 33May 1, 2024 4:41 PM

What in the world do they teach in architecture school?

by Anonymousreply 34May 1, 2024 10:45 PM

R34 Ypu think the people that "designed" this have ever been anywhere near an architecture school?

by Anonymousreply 35May 1, 2024 10:56 PM

This is truly one of the most hideous homes I’ve ever seen.

by Anonymousreply 36May 1, 2024 11:10 PM

is there even access to the top of the turret!?!

by Anonymousreply 37May 2, 2024 1:50 AM

Those scratcher winnings never go as far as you think they will.

by Anonymousreply 38May 2, 2024 2:42 AM

Yeah, someone lost their shirt on this project.

by Anonymousreply 39May 2, 2024 3:40 AM

[quote]What in the world do they teach in architecture school?

They teach build house!

by Anonymousreply 40May 2, 2024 8:44 PM

It’s a shitty house with an awful exterior that looks like a cheap attempt to make it look like a castle.

by Anonymousreply 41May 2, 2024 9:01 PM

The worst thing I've ever seen in a "Tasteful Friends" thread. Stupefying.

by Anonymousreply 42May 2, 2024 10:07 PM

[quote] The worst thing I've ever seen in a "Tasteful Friends" thread. Stupefying.

Oh there have been much worse than this.

by Anonymousreply 43May 2, 2024 10:23 PM

Looks like a hole at the miniature golf course.

by Anonymousreply 44May 2, 2024 10:46 PM

And suddenly even a shitty house thread is a Trump thread. Forty replies though. You Trump gals are slipping.

by Anonymousreply 45May 2, 2024 10:47 PM

When a house fails even by McMansion standards, I can't laugh; it's just too easy. Even the views of Torch Lake can't redeem this chaos. The weedy vineyards tell the whole sad story.

by Anonymousreply 46May 2, 2024 10:58 PM

Not that I've seen, R43.

by Anonymousreply 47May 11, 2024 12:57 AM

Looks about as authentic as Mortville in John Waters’ “Desperate Living.”

by Anonymousreply 48May 11, 2024 1:53 AM

Is it in one of the MAGAT areas of Michigan?
