Easy To Be Hard From The Movie Hair (1979)

I loved this movie when I first saw it with my parents and my brother in March 1979. I thought my 13 year old young gay head was going to explode when they showed White Boys/Black Boys and showed the young draftees getting naked for the draft board.

I loved Grease when I saw that movie in June 1978 with my family but I think I was even more taken with the movie Hair.

Sorry at the last minute I decided to post Black Boys/White Boys. The title should have been changed. Sorry datalounge people.

A bunch of us from college showed up for the Be-In filming in Central Park. I don't remember much beyond all the pot.

It was made ten years too late. I didn’t like the slower tempo in a lot of the songs and most of the politics were gone, resulting in a bunch of scruffy kids dressed like cavemen running around in Central Park for no reason.

Here's the song to OP originally intended (which I love).

R3- When I saw it back in 1979 I did not notice it but watching it now they look like late 1970's hippies. They do not resemble hippies form ca. 1968.

R4- I do love her rendition of this song but I decided to switch the last minute to the other song.

[quote]It was made ten years too late.

10 years previously, r3, Hair had only been running a year.

Worst costume design in the history of movies. Everyone looked 1979 instead of 1966.

Totally disagree, r8.

R8- The movie was set in 1968 not 1966.

I never understood why one of the ED drug companies didn't use "Easy To Be Hard" in their commercials.

This is the only one I remember.

R11 The show was written before 1967 which is when it opened on Broadway so 1966 is a good guess for its time period. The movie costumes and especially the hair were anachronistic.

If you say so, r14.

Annie Golden’s hair was totally wrong. And why even have her in It? They cut out “Frank Mills.”

And the “Black Boys” singers looked like they were in a Nair ad from the 70s.
