Biden Admin to provide ATACMS to Ukraine

The Ukrainians have wanted these for a while — the Army Tactical Missile System, or ATACMS. It’s a kind of very long range missile — it can be fired from HIMARS or other platforms. We have already sent them mid-range ATACMS, M39s, but these, M39A1 or M48, are long range — 300km.

Based on the current frontline, the Ukrainians would be JUST able to bombard the Kerch Bridge with them, although that would move the HIMARS quite close to the (dangerous) front line. If the missiles are M48s, Mister Putin’s beloved bridge is in a spot of bother.

So we're basically at war with Russia.

Won't change the course of the war.

by Anonymousreply 2April 24, 2024 1:03 AM

News flash, we've been at war with Russia since November 2016.

You type like you're in Tolyatti, R2.

by Anonymousreply 4April 24, 2024 1:14 AM

I don't know what that means, r4

Is it witty?

The Ukraine has been significantly impacted by the US not supplying them with defense funding and weapons. But then that was the primary goal of the Putin Republican party.

#6, you never say THE Ukraine- it's simply 'Ukraine'. Gawd!

by Anonymousreply 7April 24, 2024 2:03 AM

The Putin Republican Party?

by Anonymousreply 8April 24, 2024 2:15 AM

No r1, no more than the USA and USSR were at war during the Vietnam War, or during the Doviet War in Afghanistan. During both of those wars, one side supplied weapons to use against the troops of the other side.

^^^ Soviet

Of course it will. Since Trump ordered the republicans to cut off aid, the Ukrainians have been losing ground. (It’s caused tremendous Russian losses, but they don’t seem to care.)

Its quite likely that the infusion of additional weapons and other equipment will reverse that trend.
