Have any of you fat whores done it? Is it more difficult than it seems? I'm pretty good at pie crust, but this seems next level.

FAT WHORE?

Ina says just buy it at the store.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 21, 2024 12:50 PM |
I think we all know the obvious answer to that questions, R1.

Why bother?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 21, 2024 1:13 PM |
I love pastry of all kinds OP. But I follow Ina’s advice and buy it at the stores You can also buy GF (gluten free) puff pastry.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 21, 2024 1:38 PM |
R4- I feel the same way about Chinese food- Why bother?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 21, 2024 1:47 PM |
because it is fun
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 21, 2024 1:52 PM |

So does Greg.
Ina-shminer.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 21, 2024 4:51 PM |
Thanks, r8 and all. I don't mind a bit of extra effort for gains in quality/flavor, but it doesn't sound like there's return on investment.

R10
Referring to oneself in the third person constantly can sometimes indicate a disconnection from reality or a mental health condition, such as schizophrenia or dissociative identity disorder.
It is important to approach such behavior with empathy and sensitivity, as it may signal distress or impairment in functioning.
Stigmatizing or labeling the person without understanding the underlying reasons is not beneficial.
Professional evaluation and support from mental health professionals may be helpful in such cases.

OP, look for a rough puff pastry recipe. It’s not as involved as traditional but provides perfectly acceptable results in a fraction of the time and effort.

Well, Greg’s glad he doesn’t do it constantly.
Do you know what ‘constantly’ means?
What a dumb shit you are.
Now go fuck off.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 21, 2024 7:49 PM |
R10 What does "Ina-shminer" mean?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 21, 2024 7:53 PM |
R16, it means go fuck off.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 21, 2024 8:03 PM |
They're always doing "rough puff" on the Great British Bake-Off. I'd never heard of that, or hot-water pastry, until I started watching that show.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 21, 2024 8:05 PM |
R17 No seriously, what does it mean? Does it not mean anything at all?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 21, 2024 8:07 PM |
It's like Ina-Schmina, r19.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 21, 2024 9:35 PM |
R20 It wasn't funny and he fucked it up.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 21, 2024 9:38 PM |
That happens.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 21, 2024 9:42 PM |
Just what did I fuck up, R21?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 21, 2024 10:17 PM |
R22, thanks for your always kind comments.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 21, 2024 10:20 PM |
Not worth the trouble. Buy it at store.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 21, 2024 10:31 PM |
I haven't bought any in a long time, but I seem to recall that some brands of the frozen puff pastry didn't use all butter. I can't imagine that would be too good.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 21, 2024 10:34 PM |
What the hell, why not give it a try?
It looks to be more tedious than difficult.
I would give it a try.

Every pastry student does the swan thing.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 23, 2024 2:57 AM |
Puff, strudel, phyllo.
I do them all.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 23, 2024 3:15 AM |
I love eating puff pastry so I sometimes just think about it rather than actually do it. It's really unhealthy and addictive. And to actually make it? Way too much effort - even for a boring rainy day.

And I made them for bake sales in junior high.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 23, 2024 12:50 PM |
I tried once but it doesn't work in a warm and humid house. A good cooking exercise but not worth the trouble.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 23, 2024 12:55 PM |
R31 Well I made them in fifth grade.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 23, 2024 5:23 PM |
R33, Well, I made them in second grade—but perfected them and sold them in junior high.

r35 Is he Puff, the Magic Drag Queen?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | April 23, 2024 10:30 PM |
Frozen parathas are a cheap and easy hack for puff pastry. It was a game changer for me.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | April 23, 2024 11:00 PM |
I agree with the buy it. There is no real point why you would go through the trouble of making your own puff pastry. It's a lot of work, things can go wrong, and the end result is unlikely to be better than just buying it.
