Was the accelerant Trump's hair spray that he uses by the gallon?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 19, 2024 5:50 PM |
Yep, cult member. Trump will watch replays over and over chortling "see what they'll do for me?!"

From the NYTimes:
A young man set himself on fire on Friday afternoon near the Lower Manhattan courthouse where jury selection continued in the criminal trial of former President Donald J. Trump.
The man doused himself with a liquid around 1:35 p.m. in Collect Pond Park, across the street from the courthouse. Onlookers screamed as bright orange flames engulfed the man. It was unclear what motivated his action.
People rushed over to try to extinguish the fire, but the intensity of the heat could be felt several hundred feet away.
After a few minutes, dozens of police officers rushed over and tried to smother the flames. The man, who appeared to be alive, was loaded into an ambulance and rushed away.
The man was in an area of the park that was cordoned off for supporters of Mr. Trump.
This is a developing story and will be updated.

CNN's Coates and Perez are on the scene reporting this tragic scene as it happened.
Public self-immolation is a shockingly serious statement for a person to demonstrate, and is usually politically or religiously motivated.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 19, 2024 6:01 PM |
I hope he's dead.
There are some situations worse than death and being alive to experience the pain of multiple degrees burns is one of them.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 19, 2024 6:03 PM |
This is probably the wrong reaction, but I wonder how it smelled?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 19, 2024 6:04 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 19, 2024 6:07 PM |
Yikes. This is the third self-immolation in recent months (one in Atlanta in December and Aaron Bushnell in February).
The NYTimes reported that "The man was still moving as officers knelt beside him and asked his name. He was loaded into an ambulance and taken away."
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 19, 2024 6:07 PM |
The breaking news I long for: Donald (Madea) Trump goes to jail, supporters commit mass suicide.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 19, 2024 6:09 PM |
On a positive note, I think this will damage Dump’s election chances (to what extent remains unclear). People who are on the bubble who are not enamored of Joe will be reminded how truly bonkers his supporters are.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 19, 2024 6:13 PM |
I'm not convincd this was a Trump supporter. It may have been a pro-Palestinian protestor who knew that there would be a large media presence outside the courthouse and wanted his act to receive maximum exposure.

Meanwhile, inside the courtroom, Trump is falling asleep, farting, and maybe shit his pants.

Or maybe the exact opposite happens. It became a pretty powerful protest tool in VN. Have we heard any report of last words?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 19, 2024 6:21 PM |
Sadly, as we witnessed during the Vietnam era, this will likely be the first of similar public suicides.
Damn you, donald trump, damn you to the Hell you deserve.

Helped was a word chosen on purpose and for a reason. Body bags always wins out in the end as far as public support.
There were anti war protests that started in 1965. Before US body bags became a big issue. And for many Americans those burning monks were their first look at VN.
All the pieces matter

[quote] Mental illness
We mainly only talk about it after a mass killing, but here again we see an instance where the evidence of mental illness is visible, but there’s no system to identify people who need treatment and to prevent them from hurting themselves or others. Maybe AI could be used to go through online posts and screen for ill people. For example, it could be used by health authorities to find people on DL who put words in all caps on the political threads and other mentally ill people.

I was reading through a different Trump trial related thread earlier today and seeing that it was wall-to-wall DL insane asylum material, even more so than normal. It makes me wonder if the people who post about Trump literally every day on DL somehow present as “normal” in real life, or would it be clear to rational people that there is something really wrong with them.

A disillusioned democrat.
𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨
“We’re victims of a bi-partisan, totalitarian con that will soon collapse the economy,” he wrote on Instagram. His social media pages rail on the wealthy and is critical of politicians of both political parties, including Democrat Bill Clinton and Republican Donald Trump.
“That Bill Clinton was secretly on (former CIA Director) George H.W. Bush’s side, and that the Democrat vs. Republican division has been entirely manufactured ever since: Clinton is with Bush; Gore is with Bush; Trump is with Hillary, and so on,”
, “As it turns out, we have a secret kleptocracy: Both parties are run by financial criminals whose only goals are to divide, deceive, and bleed us dry.”
Azzarello wrote that he had previously worked for California Democratic Congressman Ami Bera and Democratic New York Representative Tom Suozzi in 2013 and 2014, although his manifesto indicates he had come to be disenchanted with both political parties; he also railed about cryptocurrency and “ponzi schemes.”
“This extreme act of protest is to draw attention to an urgent and important discovery: We are victims of a totalitarian con, and our own government (along with many of their allies) is about to hit us with an apocalyptic fascist world coup.”
It continues, “These claims sound like fantastical conspiracy theory, but they are not. They are proof of conspiracy. If you investigate this mountain of research, you will prove them too. If you learn a great deal about Ponzi schemes, you will discover that our life is a lie. If you follow this story and the links below, you will discover the rotten truth of ‘post-truth America’. You will learn the scariest and stupidest story in world history. And you will realize that we are all in a desperate state of emergency that requires your action.:
He added: “To my friends and family, witnesses and first responders, I deeply apologize for inflicting this pain upon you. But I assure you it is a drop in the bucket compared to what our government intends to inflict. these words are true, this is an act of revolution.”

His mom died two years ago, and he wrote the following. I wonder if he had been on antipsychotics and then became non-compliant after her death, because he sounds very lucid here:
My mom, Libby Azzarello, passed away peacefully with her family at her side yesterday morning. We're all so touched by the outpouring of support from those who knew her, and the fond memories they've shared.
I couldn't be happier to have been able to be close to her these last few months. She suffered from COPD, but I am immensely proud to say that she navigated the awful challenges of this disease with strength, dignity and spirit through the very end. I'm honestly not sure I understood what those words really meant until I saw her continuous willingness to adapt to her limitations and to push herself in ways I can only imagine.
And throughout it all, she never let go of those beautiful traits that have touched so many. She never stopped being gracious and warm, silly and catty, compassionate and supportive. I can honestly say that the recent time I've spent with her was as fun as any I've had.
I love you mom, and I already miss you dearly XOXO

That’s what I wondered, R157. If he was a medicated schizophrenic who lost it when his mom died and stopped his meds. Or something like that. Prior to that, there was none of the political nonsense. It’s really quite sad and I thank the universe that I don’t have a mental illness.
by Anonymous | reply 160 | April 20, 2024 12:53 AM |
It is indeed very sad, r160. Reading the post about his mother was particularly gut-wrenching. I suppose if there is any silver lining to this horrible event, it's that she didn't live long enough to see it.

by Anonymous | reply 162 | April 20, 2024 12:58 AM |
R157 That's incredibly sad. I have a sibling around his age who is Bipolar with Psychotic Features—so severe she was misdiagnosed with Schizophrenia for the first few years she was symptomatic. Many of this guy's screeds could have come directly from her journals. She's been non-compliant with her meds for most of her adult life and has wreaked untold havok and heartbreak on our whole family. But when she's stable, it's like you get a brief glimpse of this bright, funny, caring, amazing person that you remember and you can't imagine them leaving again, but they always do, and it's like you have to mourn their death over and over.
As horrible as this was (and it WAS), I can't imagine the chances of him choosing to turn things around and staying on his meds at his age—statistically, they're incredibly low. I can guarantee you this isn't the first time his family has had to grieve the loss of his life, it's just the last. And if he was a Paranoid Schizophrenic, which I suspect he was, he'd likely been suffering for decades.

I too think he went off the deep end because un-medicated after his mom passed.
One of my roommates was schizophrenic and fine when on meds. She would get to a point where she felt she didn't need them - they made her tired or slowed her down so she would stop. And after she was hospitalized once she was released to a 'supervised residence' but could go out though she had a curfew. And then we would get together and hang out. But when she stopped taking her meds she would fairly quickly revert to alarming behaviors.
She was brilliant. I still think about her and wonder where she is now.

--- "Police said that Mr Azzarello’s drivers license showed he was born in 1987 and was a native of St Augustine, Florida. A registered Democrat, he attended the University of North Carolina.
He is believed to have arrived in New York at some point between April 13 and April 19, family members who spoke to police said they were unaware that he was in the city.

Trumpers are screaming that this guy’s “manifesto” was publicized right after he died but “the Tennessee shooter” manifesto has not been published. Why not?
Hey assholes - it’s because self-immolators only kill themselves. Mass shooters kill other people. After Columbine, the notebooks of the shooters inspired other angry misfits to go out and kill others.
LEO and media decided not to publicize the violent, insane ramblings of mass shooters after that. The relatives of victims also asked media not to make shooters celebrities with name recognition while the victims were dead and forgotten.
If this self-immolator’s extremely painful and pointless death inspires others to kill themselves, it won’t result in 45 victims. It means like maybe 3 crazy people will kill themselves.

People have criticized Coates for her ongoing highly detailed commentary during the tragic event, but in reality she was doing her job as a trained journalist: give the live audience the details of what was happening just off camera, since the cameraman was probably instructed not to show the actual immolation.
I thought she did a great job under pressure, with no warning about what was going to occur. The awful burning smell was part of the live details.

I don’t know about nowadays but years ago they used to use a little device for skin grafts that looked like a cross between a wringer and a cheese grater. They’d “wring” the skin to stretch it out then the stretched skin would be punctured by the sharp points on the “grater” and the skin would look like Swiss cheese. The device elongated the skin and the holes later filled in a bit, but always looked different from the rest of the graft. So I could see how it might resemble a waffle iron.

[quote]But others here are calling you a goddamned nut as well based on your comments.
See, this is the cue that you and I have a history; nobody's said that about me in this thread. So naturally I had to research you.
You're a former participant in the religious threads, having argued (among other things) that the Holiness Code exhibits preternatural wisdom in disease prevention. The claim itself is Anscher-esque, 'tho there's probably some others who also think that.
No, nobody calls me a nut 'based on my comments.' My detractors are never really able to successfully assail what I've said. They generally avoid the substance of my posts. Calling me a nut is purely for ad hominem's sake. And it's not lots of "others," but just a few of really bitter posters who've lost arguments (usually about the existence of Jesus Christ, but also politics), who like to express their grudge through their sock accounts.

Ah, one of the surviving 'BlackMillennial' trio of socks. How apt that 𝑦𝑜𝑢 should respond. It's not 'everyone who disagrees with me is a sock,' it's the identical specific opinions and set of insults which give the socks away; lack of originality on the part of the sock users.
There's an easy solution. You could
𝐚) Stop socking, and/or
𝐛) Put me on ignore.
One would think the latter option would be the most attractive, but it's something you've always refused to do. With any of your accounts.
So, I guess you'll just keep having to be called out.

Well, it's the return of Mr "far too nice" sock, crying about being exposed. I'm evidently important enough for you to have spoken to to begin with, and also to reply to yet again.
If you think what you post here constitutes 'entertainment,' don't quit your day job.
Unless shitposting here 𝑖𝑠 your day job. Is it? Are you paid in rubles, potatoes, or vodka?

You are the typical entertainment here. And I will try and make fun of anyone. You are not special or important. The is DL special and important is not part of the deal. . You are just an easy target and easy to make light fun of.
Don’t over think it

Think of the police, EMTs, doctors and nurses who are traumatized by this shithead. Have you ever seen anyone covered in burns and accelerant? Try to get an IV in one? It’s a horror show

He was very mentally ill, r269. I doubt he had the capacity to think rationally about how his act would affect those around him.
I can only muster sympathy for him and his family.
by Anonymous | reply 270 | April 22, 2024 1:39 PM |
I don’t think it minimizes sympathy for him or his family to have sympathy for the first responders. Sympathy isn’t under ration.
by Anonymous | reply 271 | April 22, 2024 1:46 PM |
I agree, r271, but calling him a "shithead" is unnecessary. By "I can only muster sympathy for him and his family," I meant that I can't blame him or hold him responsible for the trauma he caused those who witnessed his death.

With all due respect Elder Lez, do you read some of the posts here at the Data Lounge?

Very fair, R273, very fair.

If I knew a fire fighter that was going to be traumatized by seeing a burnt body I’d suggest they had picked the wrong line of work. Same for an emt or police. Grow a pair
These are the kind of days they signed up for.

Yeah, nobody called the fire department R275. Cops on the scene put out the fire.

Close.
Police and others responded first. New York fire dept responded and credited with putting the fire out.
Either way police and fire were there and saw Mr Burnt Burger. Likely not the first or last burnt body they have seen on the job.
Amd they will be telling stories about this day as they have a few beers with friends for years to come. And they won’t be sad DL stories. They will see the humor in it all.

So I’ll assume the same go for all Americans and seeing dead bodies from gun violence. You should expect it. It’s part of your culture. Grow a pair and stop complaining.

It depends on your neighborhood

If you assume that then you are not nearly as smart as I assumed you were. Most Americans are not fire fighters or police and they don’t have a job working with the violently dead . They did not opt for a job where they would be dealing with the violently dead.
Surely you understand this?
it would be the same thing in combat. If an 0311 is going to be traumatized by seeing a KIA from a gun shot that 0311 should have demanded a,pogue job in supply
Overly sensitive fire fighters who can’t stand to deal with fire victims——the DL story continued
