Jeopardy! #42
by Anonymous | reply 122 | May 4, 2024 3:17 PM |
Just to jump in, I'll say that Ken Jennings, who once seemed a terrible choice as host, has grown on me; he's lively and engaging. His and the contestants' asides and ad libs would probably have made Alex recoil, but I rather like them for the most part. (And he's so prefereable to Mayim.)
But I wonder: Alex used to walk to the winner to shake their hand. Why doesn't Ken? Hygiene?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 18, 2024 2:19 PM |
[quote]But I wonder: Alex used to walk to the winner to shake their hand. Why doesn't Ken? Hygiene?
That all ended with COVID.
Alex used to stand in front of the contestants podium to interview them, but once COVID hit, that stopped. Host now stands at least 10 feet away at all times. Same thing at the end.
Although the host does still pose for photos with the contestants after the show. But that happens after the camera is turned off.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 18, 2024 5:56 PM |
Marko's Vanna White story was awkward, don't think I really understood it. But, he's cute and pinged, so ... yay!
Connecticut seemed obvious to me.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 19, 2024 12:05 AM |
Yay, Marco!! Way to go. He seems like a nice guy. I had a feeling that Allison wasn’t going to win it one more time because the DDs were not her friends tonight. She got the first one wrong and the two in Double Jeopardy went to each of her challengers. Plus, instead of remaining quiet and not venturing answers, as she had done previously, she seemed to get a few answers wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 19, 2024 12:06 AM |
Allison was "exposed" as a less than a great champion. She missed several easy answers (like thinking Arkansas was a state before Alabama). I thought FJ was really easy... CT pretty obvious.
Marco is cute as a button.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 19, 2024 2:30 AM |
Alison was quite sporting to her fellow contestants, I liked her for that.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 19, 2024 2:54 AM |
I, too, guessed Arkansas, even though I knew it was too far south to be correct.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 19, 2024 2:03 PM |
Connecticut seemed easy in retrospect. But only then,
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 19, 2024 2:36 PM |
Finally a fun game with some decent competition. Go Marko!!
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 19, 2024 2:36 PM |
Farewell, Foghorn Leghorn. We hardly knew ye.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 19, 2024 3:20 PM |
Good game. I like Marko, the new champ. He does have a math professor quality about him.
I said Delaware for Final.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 19, 2024 5:30 PM |
So did I, R12! Didn’t even remember CT.
The new champ is a cutie.
Plus today’s FJ was ridiculously easy.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 20, 2024 3:28 AM |
I’d be more embarrassed to have guessed Delaware than Arkansas. That FJ was ridiculously easy.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 20, 2024 3:37 AM |
That was like Final Jeopardy for Juniors.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 20, 2024 6:25 AM |
So glad to see Super Villain Molly go down in flames.
Her cockiness was annoying.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 20, 2024 6:48 AM |
I'd love to make the new champ smile.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 20, 2024 4:19 PM |
With your tongue, R18?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 20, 2024 5:08 PM |
Sylvia Plath???
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 22, 2024 11:58 PM |
When a champ wears a tie after not doing so for several nights, he is going to lose. Seen this before.
I got Final, but it wasn't obvious.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 23, 2024 12:02 AM |
I guessed Lorraine Hansberry, too.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 23, 2024 12:04 AM |
I thought Hurston was pretty obvious, really the only answer considering a Black woman writer in the time period mentioned.
But, yeah....Sylvia Plath???? There is nothing remotely right about that response.
Nam looks to be around for awhile, I think.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 23, 2024 1:26 AM |
I got Zora Neale Hurston at the last second.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 23, 2024 2:00 AM |
R20 I though Marco was cute and I was sad when he looked like he was going to lose.... but then.... Plath. One of the craziest responses ever. (Although the image of her collaborating with Moms Mabley is pretty fun.) And with "Plath" all my interest in the lad went away. Funny how something stupid can extinguish affection.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 23, 2024 2:32 AM |
R12 I guessed Delaware, too.
I knew it wasn't an "A" state, I just forget about fucking Connecticut when I was going through the alphabetical list of states. (Though to be fair to me, it's a very easy state to forget about.)
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 23, 2024 3:09 AM |
Go Nam! Bravo! I liked him instantly and also think he’ll be around for a while.
I guessed Hurston for Final. Couldn’t think of any other black female novelists and playwrights of that era, but figured it was wrong. Was surprised but delighted to learn it was right.
Plath was obviously a hail mary guess as time was running out. Marko knew it was wrong but Plath was better than leaving it blank.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 23, 2024 8:07 AM |
R27, Leaving it blank would have been less embarrassing than offering a ridiculous response.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 23, 2024 10:01 AM |
Cue all the Ben Franklin, Mark Twain and Dorothy Parker quotes.......
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 23, 2024 1:25 PM |
R27 There's Hail Mary (e.g. Tony Morrison) and then there's lunacy/shit-the-bed (a white privileged suicidal poet who wasn't born in 1932).
I agree Nam looks like he'll be around a while.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 23, 2024 2:23 PM |
That was short-lived.
No surprise that he still lives at home with his parents.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 24, 2024 12:43 AM |
Is “Nam” short for Vietnam?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 24, 2024 1:41 AM |
No hug for the piano teacher?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 24, 2024 1:42 AM |
I loved the piano teacher and was thrilled whenever she responded correctly (and slowly).
But at FJ I actually snorted, "yeah, right............" Wasn't I surprised?!
by Anonymous | reply 34 | April 24, 2024 1:54 AM |
Respectfully, i don’t think there was a single moment tonight or last night when Nam looked like he’d “be around for a while”.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 24, 2024 2:41 AM |
R35 At the start of the show Ken shared that Nam's 75% buzzing in/correct answer record the previous night was unprecedented. I guess you need to tell Ken and producers they were wrong and you knew it. Do it with respect though, eh?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 24, 2024 2:50 AM |
r2, If they're worried about Covid, why are the contestants allowed to hug?
by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 24, 2024 2:56 AM |
I was shocked that he recognized Buchanan immediately like that being Canadian.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | April 24, 2024 12:21 PM |
The rumors about Buchanan have made him a gay pin-up boy.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | April 24, 2024 12:38 PM |
Yea! Correct with FJ
The old winner seemed very low key.
I like the new lady winner.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | April 25, 2024 12:28 AM |
I thought ginger was hot.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | April 25, 2024 1:12 AM |
Good close game! Seemed through most of it like any one of them could have come out on top. I like the new champ.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 25, 2024 1:36 AM |
All three got FJ right, it's been awhile since that has happened.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 25, 2024 1:48 AM |
I foolishly guessed the Orient Express. The Hindenberg seemed quite obvious once revealed.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | April 25, 2024 2:34 AM |
Look up “nonbinary” in the dictionary and it would just be an artist’s rendering of defending champ’s hairdo.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | April 25, 2024 4:42 AM |
Orient Express, famous for its pressurization and need for air locks between cars.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | April 25, 2024 4:43 AM |
One needs to know who the Montgolfiers are.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | April 25, 2024 5:56 AM |
I want to be the meat in a Tyler/Justin sandwich.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | April 25, 2024 11:32 PM |
JFC!
Tyler and Justin might as well have gone for coffee and let Amy play alone.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | April 25, 2024 11:55 PM |
Even with Amy's skills, there were so many unanswered responses. Tyler seemed promising, but he just collapsed in DJ.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | April 26, 2024 12:11 AM |
Not exactly a nail-biter tonight.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | April 26, 2024 12:20 AM |
How could not one of them know “The Caine Mutiny”?
How could not one of them know Charles de Gaulle was President of France in 1967?
by Anonymous | reply 52 | April 26, 2024 12:21 AM |
And Maybelline!!!!
The 3 of them just seemed too young for some of the categories tonight. And I can't remember an episode with so many unanswered questions at the end.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | April 26, 2024 12:26 AM |
I knew obscure Woodrow Wilson question - yay, me! Although, folks here are by definition seriously above average intelligence as a group.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | April 26, 2024 12:33 AM |
But that was a very hard FJ. I guess no surprise that that huge tacky statue is in Tennessee.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | April 26, 2024 12:36 AM |
I guessed Georgia.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | April 26, 2024 3:00 AM |
I got FJ because I immediately thought of the Parthenon copy in Nashville. I’ve always wondered what the fuck that is doing in Tennessee.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | April 26, 2024 3:04 AM |
So many unanswered clues! I wonder if this was a record.
I figured out Final after thinking of the Parthenon replica.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | April 26, 2024 9:47 AM |
I think I detected a bit of frustration on Ken's part with the contestants' ignorance.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | April 26, 2024 12:11 PM |
I’m done with Amy and her blasé attitude. She’s boring and she’s slow. She’s becoming unwatchable.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | April 26, 2024 10:23 PM |
No Jeopardy at the regular time tonight because of the NFL Draft. Instead, it’s been moved to 3:00 am. Ugh.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | April 26, 2024 10:30 PM |
Where do you live, R61?
by Anonymous | reply 62 | April 26, 2024 10:46 PM |
R60, Amy has the torso of a football player with those broad shoulders.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | April 26, 2024 10:47 PM |
Amy = Born to be broad.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | April 26, 2024 11:03 PM |
DC, R62.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | April 26, 2024 11:57 PM |
Did anyone else notice the huge man boobs on Matt the bald guy tonight?
by Anonymous | reply 66 | April 27, 2024 12:34 AM |
Why does Amy seem sedated?
by Anonymous | reply 67 | April 27, 2024 12:35 AM |
She's a doctor. You know those doctors and drugs.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | April 27, 2024 4:12 AM |
She lucks out once again.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | April 30, 2024 12:46 AM |
FJ was one of the easier ones.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | April 30, 2024 1:01 AM |
Lucked out? She had the right response. The guy with more money didn't. Even the gal with $800 had the right response.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | April 30, 2024 1:07 AM |
Easy FJ, she lucked out that he didn't know it when most challengers would have.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | April 30, 2024 1:33 AM |
The stupidity lately is maddening. As is the lisping.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | April 30, 2024 3:02 AM |
Yes, she lucked out because if Ferdinand had gotten the correct answer she would have lost. His bet would have given him a greater total than Amy was able to garner. But, he didn’t know and she bested him — which was quite fortunate on her part.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | April 30, 2024 3:25 AM |
That other woman couldn’t get it going. Poor thing.
I got FJ after a little bit of thinking. It was either going to come to you or it wasn’t.
Amy got very lucky.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | April 30, 2024 4:50 AM |
Amy definitely is lucky. She's low-energy, seemingly sedated contestant who somehow manages to keep winning.
I thought Ferdinand was finally going to knock her out. Too bad he couldn't figure out an easy Final.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | April 30, 2024 5:35 AM |
Jeopardy! Masters 2024 starts on Wednesday, May 1 in primetime on ABC (not in syndication). Nine games airing over the next three weeks. The final game airs on May 22.
Since not everyone will be watching both the daily syndicated game and the primetime Masters games, it's best to have two separate threads for discussion.
Use the thread linked below to discuss the Masters games.

by Anonymous | reply 78 | April 30, 2024 3:59 PM |
Seeing him blow Lake Geneva like that was incredibly painful.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | May 1, 2024 12:21 AM |
I want to see a battle of the Amys. "There can be only one!"
by Anonymous | reply 80 | May 1, 2024 12:38 AM |
Cue the Amy is just lucky trolls!
by Anonymous | reply 81 | May 1, 2024 12:43 AM |
There was no need for Bryan to bet it all on that DD.
A stupid mistake that he’ll regret forever.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | May 1, 2024 12:45 AM |
I was really rooting for the older lady. Loved her spunk!
But she, like me, was far too old to make that Ninja Turtles connection. And because the category was Fictional Groups I assumed they were referring to characters from.....fiction. You know, like novels.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | May 1, 2024 12:46 AM |
She is, dear R81. Lucky, slow and not terribly bright. If the kid gets easy easy easy Lake Geneva she doesn’t have a chance. Finishing in the lead with $7,600 is pathetic,
by Anonymous | reply 84 | May 1, 2024 12:54 AM |
Except the kid didn't get easy easy easy Lake Geneva.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | May 1, 2024 12:57 AM |
Comfortably numb Amy is one of the dullest champs ever.
There are zombies that are livelier than she is.
Yeah, that old lady certainly was spunky.
Bryan never recovered after that DD fiasco. Oh, and he had nice lips.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | May 1, 2024 1:32 AM |
OK, Amy has secured a spot in the next Tournament of Champions. Congratulations to here.
Now its time for her to exit and let someone more interesting and exciting be champion for a while.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | May 1, 2024 5:57 PM |
She is so slow to react when she is picking the next clue. She's an emergency room doctor. I want my doctors to think on their feet.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | May 1, 2024 8:16 PM |
Stupid, lucky (yes, lucky R85) Amy from Milwaukee doesn’t know the largest park in Chicago is Lincoln Park. I am so done with this lifeless ass.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | May 1, 2024 8:54 PM |
Is Amy short for Ambien?
by Anonymous | reply 90 | May 1, 2024 9:32 PM |
Reminder: Here's the thread to discuss the Jeopardy Masters Tournament that starts tonight.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | May 1, 2024 10:25 PM |
Know your opera, contestants! MADAME BUTTERFLY would have saved her!
And what kind of stupid ass name is "Wickea??" And she annoyingly kept repeating, "I'll take..." whenever she chose a clue. Someone should really coach these contestants before they appear!!!
by Anonymous | reply 92 | May 1, 2024 11:04 PM |
Tonight’s FJ was super easy.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | May 1, 2024 11:18 PM |
Cinchy FJ.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | May 1, 2024 11:27 PM |
How did they all miss FJ?? It was incredibly easy. The CIA? NORAD?
Bye, bye, Amy.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | May 2, 2024 12:00 AM |
I'm sure you're all going to love Wikkeakai.
Miss me yet, bitches?
by Anonymous | reply 96 | May 2, 2024 12:28 AM |
Wikipedia is already super irritating.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | May 2, 2024 12:30 AM |
What about poor Nils? He was kinda hot and ahead there for a quick minute.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | May 2, 2024 12:42 AM |
R98, He reminded me of Howard Dean.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | May 2, 2024 1:22 AM |
How could Ken not ask Waikiki about her name during the interview segment?
by Anonymous | reply 100 | May 2, 2024 1:23 AM |
No one spotted Robert Mitchum?
by Anonymous | reply 101 | May 2, 2024 1:41 AM |
FJ was very easy, but apparently everyone was thrown off by the date.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | May 2, 2024 2:30 AM |
Was not rooting for Wikkeaka. I hope it’s short lived.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | May 2, 2024 2:43 AM |
I was rooting for Nils, the pot luck dinner (and I presumed gay) guy.
Instead we got stuck with Caltiki - or whatever the hell her name is.
Well, at least Dr. Sleep is gone.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | May 2, 2024 3:01 AM |
Easiest FJ in a long time. NORAD? I think NORAD already worked overtime, jeez.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | May 2, 2024 7:23 PM |
Who won last night? I missed the show.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | May 3, 2024 11:38 AM |
Wiki, R106.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | May 3, 2024 11:48 AM |
I didn't know France had a space program in the 60s. But there weren't many countries to choose from -- France, Britain and China were the only real possibilities beside USA and USSR. And the name made it obviously French.
Miss Wikipedia is already getting old. And she's only two games in!
by Anonymous | reply 108 | May 3, 2024 5:18 PM |
"France" would have been even more obvious, if they'd spelled the clue correctly using l'accent aigu in the satellite's actual name: Astérix.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | May 3, 2024 6:19 PM |
Today is NOT a murderer’s row of knowledge. Dumb, dumber and dumbest.
by Anonymous | reply 110 | May 3, 2024 9:43 PM |
And Henry is cringy gross.
by Anonymous | reply 111 | May 3, 2024 9:44 PM |
R111, Haven’t watched tonight’s show yet, but judging from the site’s photo, is Henry trans?
by Anonymous | reply 112 | May 3, 2024 9:51 PM |
Fj was super easy!!!
OMG, can’t believe Waikiki pulled it off!!
by Anonymous | reply 113 | May 4, 2024 12:30 AM |
I couldn’t decide whether Henry was gay, trans, both, or a Paul Lynde impersonator.
by Anonymous | reply 114 | May 4, 2024 12:34 AM |
R113, Not for me, I blanked and all I could think of was Lola from “Copacabana”, which I knew was wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 115 | May 4, 2024 12:41 AM |
Yeah, good grief. Wackycaca is dull as dish water. I can’t imagine they’ll allow her to notch five wins. She’d be dead weight in ToC. She doesn’t have star quality like Rowan had.
by Anonymous | reply 116 | May 4, 2024 12:48 AM |
I didn't catch the first round of watching the beginning of the second round I was certain that Henry was going to be constantly battling the wiki chick for the lead. But it seems like they were both so desperate to answer every clue they kept attempting and getting wrong answers. And then suddenly the lady in the middle Sparks to life and pretty much pounces both of them that was pretty cool.
by Anonymous | reply 117 | May 4, 2024 12:54 AM |
I'm sad that the middle Asian. Lady didn't win. And while I'm not a fan at all of wacky head I'm really glad that Henry didn't win because I couldn't have stood watching another episode with that thing.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | May 4, 2024 1:06 AM |
The lady from Hawaii seemed sweet and she was very delightful to watch. I was rooting for her. I thought when I saw her smiling before her FJ reveal that she’d clinch it, but alas. We’re stuck with Waka Flocka going into next week.
by Anonymous | reply 119 | May 4, 2024 2:43 AM |
OMG I was so disappointed. I was so hoping Wikipedia would lose. The only champion I hate more than her is the guy who dresses up like a lady. The hula lady would have been a return to normalcy.
by Anonymous | reply 120 | May 4, 2024 6:15 AM |
Wikikakai is even luckier than Amy.
by Anonymous | reply 121 | May 4, 2024 1:40 PM |
Wackycaca, Wikipedia, Wikikakai, Waikiki, Wiki, Caltiki, Wikkeaka, Wickea . . .
No matter how you spell it, she's the very definition of lifeless.
Stick a mirror under her nose to see if she's still breathing.
Between her and previous champ Dr. Ambien, this has been Night of the Living Dead Week on Jeopardy.
by Anonymous | reply 122 | May 4, 2024 3:17 PM |
